    Need Help

Hi. I'm sure this has been addressed before and hate to be repetitive; however, I need some help and reassurance please. I have a 4cc band and was banded on 10/26/05. I don't know what my current fill is but the last one I got was 3 weeks ago. This last fill was the first time I really felt any restriction and I was PB'ing all the time because I was having to get used to it being tight. Then last Wednesday I went out to eat with my daughter. That day at lunch I had had some trouble eating but just thought it was the usual eating too fast, too big of bites, not chewing, etc. Then that night at the cafeteria, I could get NOTHING to go down. I had to run to the ladies room 3-4 times. I was sooo embarrassed...of course there were people in there that I knew! Once I almost didn't even make it to the bathroom. I tried later that night to eat, no go...the next morning...no go...and Thursday afternoon...no go. I called my doc and they told me to stay on warm liquids and not to worry about slippage, etc. Finally later Thursday, after much broth, I could eat. Now I don't have much restriction I feel. I have PB'd maybe 3x when I tried to take my medicine or when I just absolutely ate too fast running out the door! Geez, when am I going to learn. I am making bad choices, and not losing weight. I really thought it would be much easier. I see talk of people losing some restriction as time goes on...but I still seem to drink when I eat~! I struggle with this daily. How do I get my head on straight, and can a fill go from absolutely very tight to no restriction?

Hey charli and JTrek: You both will do great! I have no regrets on the banding, just regret that I'm not doing what I need to do to get my head screwed on straight! However, this has been a great day and I'm on my second bottle of water...great for me! I'm also doing good on the not drinking when I eat thing! So, hopefully I'll see some progress this week! I've decided not to weigh every day and be surprised on Monday!
  5. Hey Kathy from Baytown. I grew up in Houston, but my dad used to work in Baytown and my ex's parents lived there too. I've spent waaaayyy too much time in Baytown. Do you know Glenn Vickery? I used to work for him, he's an attorney there, mostly retired now though. Anyway, small world.

I'm not really needlephobic, but I think fills are very uncomfortable. However, this last one was done by my surgeon's husband, who is also a surgeon, and it was better than the previous 2. I still have a huge bruise though, two weeks out. I'm working on getting my head on straight and just got some pointers from my doc's nurse about it. Hopefully, I'll make some progress before my next visit.

Oh, thanks for the info about band size, etc. I found out I have a 4cc band, but don't know how much fill I have yet. I need to ask more questions at my visits.

Hi. I grew up on Houston and graduated from South Houston High School in '79. I didn't get to NETX until I finally met my hubby that is from Hughes Springs. But, at least you know me now..hehehe.
  9. Hi. I joined this board last Friday and have really enjoyed it. I'm from Texarkana and was banded 10/26/05. It's been slow going, but it's my own fault. I must admit, I'm not near as knowledgeable about this band as I thought I was. I have tons of questions, like what determines what size band you have? What is the difference of the band sizes? What causes erosion? Do I need to worry about erosion? This last fill has made me PB a lot, but only when I eat too fast or too large a bite...i'm figuring it out. Finally learning not to drink when I eat, etc. Sorry for all the ?'s but I'm just trying to figure out what it's all about...after the fact...ha. I'll admit, I thought the weight loss would be easier, but I still think it's my own doing...or not doing. Nice to be a part of this group!

    Newbie from East Texas

Hi. I live in Texarkana, but lived in Marshall for 4 years from 1998 - 2002. I was banded on 10/26/05, here in Texarkana by Dr. Kailin. Slow going for me but only because I don't do what I'm supposed to do. I'm working on it. I just joined this board last Friday and am very inspired from all the before/after photos. That is one thing that has helped me get my head on straighter. I had my first two meals this last weekend without drinking...a huge feat for me! You'll do just fine and learn a lot from this board in a short time. Good luck...banding just around the corner for you! Yippee!

    I just feel like crying

Hi Yall! I'm new here but this just hit home. I am in the same boat and need to turn it around. I keep doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result! I drink when I eat, which means I can eat almost anything. I got a fill last week and can tell a HUGE difference. I've PB'd often. But, for instance, I just ate a whole small Quiznos sub. The last 10 bites or so I knew I was full...oh, I drank a large sweet tea also with it, anyway, the last 10 bites I knew I was full. Now I feel sick, but it all went down and I need to throw up...(Yuck). How do I get my head straight? I've lost a total of "about" 30 lbs, and 2-3 sizes. I just feel like this far into it I should be further along. :help:
