  1. Ground chia seeds and ground flax seeds literally have been my lifesavers. I was having to take Colace and Milk of Magnesia all the time because I just wasn't going. Now I go at LEAST every other day, sometimes everyday. In the beginning I had to take fiber supplements because I just couldn't get enough in. Chia and flax seeds are both high in fiber. You can add them to ANYTHING. And there's no flavor to them.
  2. I'm on day 16 of my stall and it's really bothering me. I hate stalls. But the worst thing is my daughter woke up really sick yesterday and now I'm sick today. Fever, achy, super tired, sick to my stomach, bad headache, runny/stuffy nose. I'm drinking the Fairlife protein shake (with caffeine) and eating fruit because honestly, that's all I can do. I normally get my protein from my food but I have a feeling that while I'm sick I'll be getting half or a little more from my shakes and protein drinks. Nothing is sitting right in my stomach besides fruit. Not sure how that's going to affect my weight, but I'll worry about it later. I hate being sick. Blah....

Yeah. It's not covid. Nasty...whatever it is...going around. Blah.

Still super sick, but my stall finally broke!!!! 18 days.....ugh. But at least that's a bright spot in my day. My daughter is starting to get better but my husband and I are miserably sick. My 2 cats are trying to "take care" of us. It's so cute!!! Milo will be 3 in Sept and Asher is 4 1/2 months old. No working out for me for a while, which is driving me nuts. I love my workouts. But I can barely make it across the apartment without feeling sick. Ugh...

Thanks As miserable as I feel, I hate seeing my daughter sick even more. My mommy heart absolutely HATES it when my kids are sick.

I had my husband get me some sugar free popsicles and some chicken noodle soup (I strained out the broth and kept the chicken but threw out the noodles). I'm just sleeping the weekend away, snuggling with my daughter and watching Netflix between naps.

    Stalls - How many

I lost 30 pounds in the first 2 1/2 weeks, then I went into a stall. When I came out of it 2 weeks later, I started losing slowly. I'm now 3 months out and have only lost another 15 pounds, and I am currently in another stall.
  8. I've started to notice something about my mindset with food now. I know how much I'm supposed to eat, but every bite makes me feel like I'm going to stop losing weight (especially when the scale doesn't move for a day or 2) and I find myself restricting what I eat. Because I never lost my hunger hormone, it's always a dance trying to figure out when to stop eating (it's hard to stop when you're still so hungry but you've eaten the allotted amount for that meal). So now I've somehow gotten myself to the point where I don't like to eat anything because I just know that I know it'll pack the weight back on. I'm always hungry, so I'm getting used to ignoring it. So it seems I operate in extremes. I either eat and eat and eat until I'm so full I can barely move, or I hardly eat at all and ignore the hunger because I'm afraid of gaining. For example, for breakfast, I had my Protein Shake (Fairlife with caffeine) and a P3 Portable Protein snack Pack with Turkey Almonds & Colby Jack cheese. For lunch I had a few bell pepper strips (about 6) and hummus. For dinner I had 4 lemon pepper chicken wings and a sugar free protein gatorade. And for a snack later I'll have a few pieces of watermelon and pineapple. That's an example of how/what I eat per day lately. Plus I work out twice a day. It's like I went from one disordered mind set (massively over eating) to another (not eating nearly enough and working off most of what I eat). Not sure why I'm so scared of food now, but there has to be a happy medium somewhere, and I have to find it. I get upset if I eat within my limits because I'm convinced I'll gain weight again, so I eat WAY under what I'm supposed to. 2 steps forward, 3 steps back. I swear...

Trying to get out of my head....

You're right. I've been trying so hard to follow their directions to the letter that I haven't been listening to my body. I know I can't go crazy with the fats, but more than 50 per day is needed for keto. I used to hit around 100-120g of fats per day, so if I look at maybe 75g of fats per day, while still keeping my carbs very low (the bariatric diet is 50 or less carbs per day, when I did keto I stayed under 35 per day) I'll see if it works well or needs to be adjusted again. And I always stayed around 80 or so grams of protein per day. And I went on sugar free and very low sugar when I did keto to begin with and just always kept it. The fats are really the biggest difference. So we'll see how it goes. Worse comes to worst, I can just go back on the bariatric diet and do a "pouch reset" and start again.

Trying to get out of my head....

I asked my dietician in the group zoom 3 month check in yesterday and she said "because we don't do that. It's not recommended after surgery" so I asked her "ok, but why? Will it make me sick? Will it hurt me? I know the bariatric diet says low fat but my body responds better to high fats, very low carbs, low sugar, and high protein. Is the fat going to hurt me? I don't do all eggs and bacon and all that, and my cholesterol is always perfect. What is bad about it?" and I still got the same response of "because it's not recommended for after surgery". So I never actually got a real answer for why keto isn't allowed after surgery.
  12. For me, the pre-op diet was the absolute worst. Think about it...you have the larger stomach, you have all of your hunger hormone, and you're only giving yourself liquids. It's BRUTAL (I had to do all liquids for 2 weeks, so I get it). You've already done 9 days, so you're more than halfway there!!! You got this

oh i hate you stalls lmao

Man, I feel you on the stalls. I've been in one for the last 10 days and it's driving me nuts. I'm a week away from 3 months post op and I've about had it.

Trying to get out of my head....

I'm on Omeprazole daily. And as of today I actually gained 4 pounds!!! Like, how?? Why??? It's so demoralizing because I didn't have these issues when I did keto. I steadily lost, I didn't have a fear of eating, I only had 1 short stall. My issue was that I couldn't keep it off once I lost 100 pounds (in 9 months). I'm finding it's 10x harder to lose weight after this surgery than it was with just doing keto. Only now I can't do keto again because I had the surgery and I have to have low fat instead of high fat (both require low carbs, low sugar, and high protein). I thought maybe if I did keto again, then it would be easier to lose and the surgery would help me keep it off. But then I read that you can't do keto once you have the surgery. So I ended up afraid to eat because it seems like everything causes weight gain....and now here we are. *sigh*
  17. The scale hasn't moved in about 8 days. I haven't gained this time, which I'm very happy about, but I haven't lost either. I fluctuate between the same 2 pounds (between 343 - 341). I have PCOS, and I was told that will make it harder and take longer to actually lose the weight and keep it off. But it's REALLY frustrating and annoying. It's harder to lose the weight now than it was when I was just doing keto. I read that we're not supposed to do keto after bariatric surgery, but MAN it's tempting!!! I know this will pass, I know this is normal, but I HATE that it's normal. I'm 2 1/2 months out from surgery, so I'm not surprised I'm getting hit again. But UGH!!!!!

    Weirdest None-Scale-Victory - I'll go first

As of today, I have officially dropped a full clothing size!!!! The scale isn't moving again (hello stall #2) but I dropped from a size 26/28 to a size 22/24. WHAT??!?! I literally cried. I can't believe I'm sitting here in size 22/24 clothes. Right now. I also went out to dinner with my husband last week and we sat at a booth and my stomach wasn't smooshed against the table. I had space there!!! Again...WHAT?!?!?

    I really hate stalls!!!!!

It seems like when I work out more, I stall. So I was trying to just stay with what I had, and I'm still stalled. So now I'm going to ease my work outs and just walk. Hopefully that will help.

Trying to get out of my head....

That's really smart. i didn't bother to do that and I should have. I went into my 2 week pre op diet and was completely shell-shocked at how hard it was. I definitely should have started early to get my mind and stomach ready lol

Have you had your surgery yet? If so, which one? I see you've lost 55 pounds. That's awesome!!!!

Doc is out of town and I need help.

Definitely go to the ER. Call your PCP and let them know what's going on and then head to the ER. Be sure to let them know about your surgery and issues. Are there other surgeons in your surgeon's office you can see? Or at least call the office and let them know what's going on. If it was me, I would call ALL the people and then head to the ER.

Trying to get out of my head....

So update: I found a therapist and had my first session with her. It was good, but I have to be completely honest with her, which is hard. I can find ways to justify my thoughts and behaviors, but not with her. I started using MyFitnessPal. I was told it would be helpful, but it just freaks me out more. I see 900 calories and panic and cut my food in half or substitute things so what I eat is lower in calories. I've been staying around 20-30ish carbs a day, 80ish grams of proteins per day, and 20ish fats per day. I was told by my surgeon's office not to worry about counting calories at all, but here I am...counting them anyway. Now that I'm using that app, it's really messing with me more. I don't know what to do, but I really think I'm going to stop using that app. I think it's more for those who are needing help staying accountable and not eating too much or eating the wrong things, and not for those of us not eating at the levels we're supposed to because the idea of doing that freaks us out.

    Telling others

I told my boss and my mom and that's it (not counting my husband, of course). I told other people about 2 weeks after the surgery.
