Even "mild" food allergies are horrible....

No idea. But I had about 6 of the small Laffy Taffy's today and was just fine. So I honestly don't know. But I'm gonna just keep avoiding peanuts and Kind bars LOL Better safe than sorry, as far as I'm concerned.

    Quite surprising side by side....

Thank you guys so much!!! It's fun, but weird LOL My son was born in April of 1998. So early/mid 1997 was the last time I was this size. Styles have REALLY changed since then lol I definitely have no idea what I like, what looks good, what I prefer...but I'm enjoying finding out.
  3. Pic on top...my senior year of high school (prom) when I was 17. Pic on bottom...a couple of weeks ago at age 46. Face is older, but body is pretty close. Just sayin.....😏😉

Before & After + Shorts that fit!

Ok, first of all, LOVE the outfit. Lord have mercy. I absolutely love your style. Congrats on your shorts being too big!!! It's always a great feeling when you need new clothes because you lost weight, isn't it? You're doing awesome!!!

Even "mild" food allergies are horrible....

I thought about that. Might be a combination of both. But I definitely had a reaction to the peanuts. The first 20 minutes was definitely that. I'm not sensitive to sugar at all, but carbs.....wow. I didn't even look at the carbs in those bars, but there's a lot. I think, even if I had a combination of dumping and an allergic reaction, it's enough that I'm staying away from peanuts completely and paying closer attention to carbs. Normally I'm super diligent about it, but for some reason I just didn't look at it. Blah.

    Quite surprising side by side....

When I was a size 5x/30, I was basically wearing moomoo's because there wasn't much else. At 3x I finally found a couple of things that were ok, but still not great. Size 2x started to get better. Then a whole new world opened up for me when I hit XL lol And now I'm size large/size 10 and I honestly forgot what it's like to go into any store anywhere (in person or online) and find cute, well fitting, stylish, flattering, pretty clothes to wear. Now it's a matter of "do I love this enough to spend my money on it" instead of "hey, at least it's not a moomoo" when I'm shopping now. I'm still convinced size 10 won't fit when I look at it. I mean, it looks so dang small!!! Then I put it on and OMG it fits perfectly!!! I wonder if I'll ever get use to it....

    Quite surprising side by side....

I went to the thrift store late this afternoon (Saturday) and bought a few things because I only have XL clothes and they don't fit anymore. I was sure I was in a size 12. NOPE. I'm in a size 10!!! I was absolutely FLOORED. I was a size 8 in the senior pic above. And I'm a 10 now. Ok WHAT??? I'm absolutely STUNNED. It was a pleasant surprise, I'll tell you that. But I'd be really happy to stop losing now lol I was at the same weight for a bit and thought I was at my body's new set point. Nope. Apparently I was in another stall. When it broke, I was down a few pounds again. It's like my body has a total mind of its own and likes to lose weight now no matter what I do. But either way, the fact that I can absolutely, literally go into any physical or online store and find something in my size, and have that something be cute and in-style and not just any random thing that fits.....that brings tears to my eyes for sure.
  8. In the last 3 weeks, I've been dealing with crazy weird constipation. But my poop isn't hard, it's really soft. Just won't come out. TONS of gas. Bloated stomach. I was diagnosed with IBS-C about 7 months after my initial surgery (sleeve). I was on the 145mcg dose of Linzess for about a year and a half, and between that and Miralax (and every once in a blue moon, a combo laxative/stool softener) I was very regular. Pooped either every day or every other day for the most part. No bloated stomach. No real gas. Then 3 weeks ago, the constipation just went crazy and got really weird. Gas has been the most insane of my life. Stomach super bloated and uncomfortable. Linzess was increased to 290mcg and has done NOTHING. Miralax was increased. Added more Fiber to my diet and even a fiber supplement. Even started taking more laxative/stool softener meds. Added prune juice. And still, I've had a good poop exactly twice in 3 weeks and 3 small poops. That's it. Nothing is working. I drink 100 fl oz daily. I don't drink soda or anything with sugar. I honestly don't know what else to do. Any advice or suggestions? Oh, I've also added magnesium. I tried Colon Broom. Literally....nothing. I JUST WANNA POOP!!!!!

thank you!!! It's weird because I definitely thought the day where I would be anywhere near my high school size were LONG gone. And 29 years later...holy cow, here I am...

What is even happening right now??!?!

I don't know what that is, but I'm going to look into it. Thanks!!

What is even happening right now??!?!

I'm going to ask to have an ultrasound and see if they can see anything and if not, schedule another colonoscopy (just had one a year ago, not due for another 2 years). I'm going to look at what you mentioned (never heard of it) and see if I can get it here and if it helps. Also, if you've pooped 6x in the last 3 days, you could probably give your body a break for a day and if you don't go at all, take the medication again. After a hysterectomy, you want to make sure you go regularly and keep the poop soft and/or a bit runny for the first 2 weeks at least. Well, I had to be cut open, so maybe that was more for me. But I found it helped A LOT because the muscles really hurt. I imagine laparoscopic would be similar like with WLS since we needed to go easy with the pooping for a while after that, too. Definitely don't let yourself go too long without pooping, but if you're going more than twice per day, you might want to back off just a little to give your body a break and not get dehydrated.

Not a lot of ESG folks?

Not so much because we need something that gives drastic results, that's permanent and can't be undone, and will be a tool that will help and almost force us to stick to the diet and make good choices. If it's something that can be easily undone, then when it gets hard and we feel like it sucks, we can go in a moment of frustration and have it undone. Not to mention, the weight loss isn't as much, which is something most of us need. At my surgery weight, I was 388. My goal weight was 190. So my excess weight was 198 pounds. With this surgery, I only would have lost 40-50 pounds. That wouldn't have made any sense at all. There are a few articles I saw that had people lose 35% of their excess weight, but that's the exception and not the rule. But even then, I would have only lost 65 pounds. Still would not have been enough. Wouldn't have even gotten me out of the 300's. My heaviest weight was 421 and my surgery day weight was 388. With the sleeve, I lost 113 pounds but had complications and needed a revision. Once I had the revision, I lost another 100 pounds. No way could I have done any of that with this particular surgery, and I'm guessing that's why most of us don't look at it. We need something more drastic. Losing 40-65ish pounds wouldn't cut it.
  15. One cracker won't make any difference. HOWEVER, that doesn't mean to have 1, then maybe 2, then ok 3 is still ok, so 4 is then fine....no. Think about why you cheated, remember why you're doing the surgery, give yourself some grace in this, and just keep doing what you're suppose to do. One cracker isn't the end of the world, I promise

    Revision

The pain didn't start off intense. How high of a dose are you on and how often do you take it? Is it daily? Once a day or more often? Have you had to increase the dose or does the dose you currently take keep it controlled? If you're well controlled on a low dose, you're probably ok to stay on it. If you're not well controlled and need to increase and this continues, then you might have to look at a revision at some point. High doses of PPI aren't meant to be taken long term, and the higher the dose for a longer amount of time, the higher the chances you will likely need a revision.

Not a lot of ESG folks?

It might be because the reality of this particular surgery is that it's not permanent, the expected weight loss if you are completely compliant is between 12-20% of excess body weight and we typically need to lose a lot more, and insurance won't cover it. It's around $10,000 and people tend to want better results for that kind of money.

    Alabama Medicaid

Who got you approved? Typically you have to get a referral to a bariatric surgeon, their coordinator tells you what Medicaid's requirements are, you spend however much time doing everything Medicaid wants, then it's all submitted to them, then they approve it. How did you get approved for bariatric surgery with no surgeon?

    Feeling Happy

I totally relate to buying things just because they fit. I'm still trying to remember that I get to actually be choosy and find fun and cute styles and colors that are flattering and fun, that I actually like. I'm in a size large. I can go into literally ANY store anywhere and find stuff that fits me. Now it's just a matter of "do I like this enough to buy it, or is it cute HERE in the store but not enough to shell out the dough for it" lol I haven't been able to shop like that in 27 years. So it's definitely taking a while to change my mindset around it. My husband STILL has to remind me "Babe, why do you keep going to the plus size section? You can't fit in any of that anymore. You wear a large now. All of that will literally fall off you, then you'll be naked in public, I'll get into a fight with someone, I'll get arrested, and all your shopping money will have to go to bailing me out and paying for the lawyer. So just stay over here in the skinny people section and stay away from there. You don't shop over there anymore." When he said that to me the last time we went shopping, I was literally guffawing lol

    Pain skin removal

This isn't the kind of thing you can breathe through. And being in that kind of uncontrolled pain can actually slow down your recovery. Is your kid still living with you? If so, put your pain meds in a lock box that only you can get into. If they aren't, then you should be ok. Just hide the meds when they come visit. But you need to think of yourself and your body right now. You need to be able to fully relax, fully rest, and fully heal. And that won't happen if you're constantly suffering and in all kinds of pain.

    Um

Maybe you're eating something that doesn't agree with you. Maybe you're eating too fast or too much in one sitting. If I do that, I get really nauseous.

When is happening and how often? After activity, after you eat, or at any time with no rhyme or reason? You may need to call your surgeon's office. Could you be sick? Or pregnant?
