Why Don't We Give A Little Update Where We're At
PAWPAW KEN replied to speck's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Deb, dont' know about you but I have sort of "plateau'd" this past week. That is why I think I need a fill! I just hate the thought of having to go back on liquids for a few days after! -
When did you get your 1st fill?

Was banded Sept. 4th and will go in for first fill on Oct. 9th, 5 weeks out. Hunger has increased a tiny bit but still staying pretty satisfied with the 3 meals a day, which are small amounts. Looking forward to finding out the size of my band and if any cc's were added at the time of my surgery. -
I get the whey protein shots from gnc by the case and with my gold card, i save 20% the first week of the month. So i buy 3 cases at a time. I think they are 46 grams of protein so one a day is enough with my other foods. I also like the whey powder which can be found at walmart. Two scoops is around 50 grams which i mix with skim milk and add a banana and some frozen strawberries and whip it up in my magic bullet. Very tasty! My doctor said between 50 and 70 grams a day. I think that is why i have so much energy. I've also heard the protein is very important for during weight loss because you retain the muscle therefore not as much flab! Sounds good to me........!!

two questions please

I don't think it's that you can't eat more than 3 times a day. It's that you should not be hungry in between meals. I don't snack between meals at all like i used to. That's not to say i don't occasionally grab an apple or a sf popsicle. As for you being tired, are you sure you are getting enough protein? I have more energy which i think may be because i have more protein now. That is one thing my doctor stressed, to be sure and get at least 50 to 60 grams of protein each day. Good luck! -

I had surgery on Sept. 4th. I had to be on liquids for 10 days prior to surgery. My surgery center sent me 3 cases of Optifast, a high protein, low calorie drink that comes in vanilla, chocolate, and strawberry. I had to drink 6-8 per day. That is all I could have other than clear liquids, sf of course. And sf jello, popsicles, stuff like that. I lost 16 pounds prior to surgery and 32 so far total. I have my first fill on October 9th.
