Dr. Gerald Kirshenbaum - Hey Dr. Kirshenbaum samurais
ambraberger replied to mdargen's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
You're under 200!!!!!! Awesome!!! I'm frustrated, don't know what to eat, don't want to mess anything up, but not feeling really any different. Except my port hurts. I go for a fill 10/28. I haven't lost a thing since I started eating soft stuff. boo. -
22lb! Awesome! What are you eating? My wtloss has stalled, and I'm frustrated.
-
So glad to see a post from you. Have been wondering how you are since you were so sick afterwards. That's great you're still losing. I have been at a standstill since I started eating soft stuff. Frustrating cuz I don't eat near the amount of food I used to, but its just another stage to get through. Patience. Are you back to work?

I was banded 9/29, 2 weeks and 5 days ago. I'm having trouble getting in enough Water. I don't know what to eat. Have started trying some things, carefully, and slowly. Haven't had any problems, but just couldn't take mashed potatoes, scrambled eggs and pintos & cheese, anymore! And I'm not losing!!!! Dr's office said you're not suppossed to right now, this is the month for healing, but it's frustrating just the same. I eat way less then I used to and the scale won't budge, even gained 1 lb back after starting soft stuff. I get my 1st fill 10/28, but I wish I could be losing a little by then. Dr's office suggested low carb diet, so as not to gain back what I've lost, 6 lbs preop, and 6 lbs postop minus the 1 lb I've gained back. :tt1: Now stuck. Lst week was my 1st week back at work, 12 hour shifts as a NICU nurse. So I got through that. Guess now I'll try to start walking. Maybe that will help. Thanks for "listening". Just frustrated. Feeling good though. :tongue_smilie:

I'm feeling good. Went back to work this week. Nicu Nurse/12 hour shifts are kind of long. Have trouble drinking enough Water. And I'm frustrated, cuz I'm not real sure what I should/shouldn't be eating. Have mostly been eating mashed potatoes and Jennie O turkey loaf, cuz it's soft. It was good the 1st 12 times... lol.... I've tried a couple bites of salad, and a lettuce wrapped grilled chicken sandwich. I'm not losing even though I'm eating way less then I used to. I'm a little less then 3 weeks out. I know it takes time, but It's nice to see results when you've put yourself through something this big. Thanks for asking. How are you doing? Ambra:tongue_smilie:

I'm also struggling with Protein. I'm very picky/sensitive to the taste of the protein. This shake: Premier Nutrition Protein is good. Tastes like creamy chocolate milk. It's not bad at all. I live in CO, the only place I know of to get them is costco. Going today to get a membership and some shakes. :tongue_smilie: Also the protein bullets that are fruity. I only like the fruit punch. 1/2 in a bottle of Water, add a crystal light fruit punch to it, can't taste it. They come in grape, orange, and blue raspberry. I don't know about pills. I'm tired of crushing/taking the ones I already have to. Good luck! Hang in there.

Uncomfortable feeling in chest

Hong in there you recently banded ... the shoulder pain is awful... it does pass believe it or not and then on to different struggles. But if we all remember to help and support each other, and remember we did this for a reason, we'll get through it. I'm feeling lots better. Banded 11 days ago, have forgotten about the horrible gas pains, now just trying to think about eating cuz I'm getting hungry.... Good luck!!! Walking even very slowly does help. -

How did your fill go? I'm trying to eat slower. It's been helping me not get so sore. It's hard to eat cream of wheat slow when you feel like your starving. Geez! My mental attitude is better tho, so it's helping. -
Good luck with your surgery today. Keep us posted. I was banded 9/29. I'm 11 days out. Working on eating my soft stuff slower. And realizing that this too shall pass. Had a couple rough days. Feeling better every day, physically and emotionally.

Hey Sharyn. Wondering how you are. I struggle with depression too. I've had a couple very bad days. Don't know if you're on meds or not. It's really nasty crushing them. I finally figured out applesauce covers it up the best. Just wanted to let you know, you're not alone with the depression struggle. Take 1 day at a time. Even 1 hour or minute sometimes. Ambra

Yes, I work with premies and sick newborns. It is very rewarding, I love it!!!! There are some very sad times, but lots more rewarding times, and it's an honor to be there during some very hard times. I graduated from nursing school 2 years ago and went straight into the NICU. I still consider myself new, and I'm always learning. Right now, there's no where else I'd rather be. I love it!!! I do rotate 6 wks on days and 6 wks on nights, but have a lot of friends on both shifts. Everyone has been concerned with my surgery, so hopefully going back won't be too bad. We'll see.

What's up chica? Hope you're busy doing something fun with your mom before she leaves tomorrow. Just checking in!

I'm really resting a lot these next few days so I'll be ready for next week. The good thing about 12 hour shifts, only working 3 days per week. I'll let you know how I do. I'm feeling a little better today cuz I've been resting a lot. So hopefullly with resting 3 more days....... wish me luck:blush:

How long did it take for your pain to go away completely? I'm 10 days out, and just uncomfortable. Going back to work monday, and just wondering when I'll feel more like normal. Thanks. -
surgery 9/29/08 ....NOW IM HUNGRY!!
ambraberger replied to ImWithTheBand22's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Just wondered how you're doing. I've had a very rough day.... feeling better since I've been on here. But struggling. Feels like the pain will never completely go away and I'll never be able to just eat something, even small portions again. Would love to hear from you! Ambra banded 9-29 -
Not really. I turned in all the paperwork to HR today. People I work with are very supportive and I just need to take it easy these next few days, not run around all over the place like I have been the last couple of days. It will be to work and then bed that's for sure. And the good thing about my patients they are very tiny!!! My coworkers will be very supportive and concerned about me, I work with a close group. At least this is what I hope!!!

When will I feel like a NORMAL Person again!!!!!!
ambraberger replied to gigim's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was banded 9-29 and am having a VERY hard day. Glad I got on here and read your post and the responses. There were reasons I wanted the lap band and its just hard to remember all that, since i've had the pain for 10 days. And not being able to eat whatever. I'm struggling with the emotional part of letting go of my old eating habits. It's harder for some of us then others. Hang in there and know you're not alone. I'm going to look at before and after pics now. Thanks for that suggestion!! -
I'm 10 days out, was banded 9-29 and I am really struggling today. I am tired of the pain. I am really struggling with the emotional part of letting go of old eating habits. I know this will pay of in the long run, but today, I am tired of hurting. Tired of not being able to just eat something and feel better. I'm going back to work monday, I'm a NICU nurse and work 12 hour shifts. When I decided to go back to work at my post op appt this past monday, I felt better then I do today. Now I'm worried. I'm just struggling today. Ambra:sad:

Hi Everybody! Hope you're all feeling even a little bit better then yesterday! I actually feel quite a bit better then I did yesterday. I had my 1 week post op appt, and asked again about exercise. The dr said not to do anything weight bearing for 4 weeks due to the stitches inside. Don't want to "pull" anything. Made sense to me. JWRN~Hope you're on the mend. Any improvement with the new antibiotic? Hope so!! Happy healing/recovering to everyone!! Hugs! Ambra:smile:
-
I hope so. Good to know someone else started early. Thanks! I was told walking for 4 weeks, then on to whatever, I'll ask again today at my post op appointment. Hang in there! I'm sure everyone just cares about ya!! Chin up!! Maybe that nasty medicine will save your band!!! Fingers crossed and prayers being sent!!! Keep us posted!:girl_hug::tt2:

Just checking in. I'm a little concerned. I had talked to someone at my surgeons office on friday and she told me to step up the diet to soft foods. So I did. I was confused cuz all the paper work I had said full liquids days 3-14.. I was banded 9/29 and I'm on day 7 now. So I started CAREFULLY on soft foods on day 5????? That's what she told me to do because I was feeling very weak/puny. I haven't had any different pain, just the same stuff that is healing, I hope I haven't done something bad. Worried. JWRN~I'm so concerned for you. I'm a NICU nurse and know how that can go. I hope they get it taken care of for you. How are you feeling?
