I have a treadmill and a recumbent bike. I love Hip Hop Abs and Zumba,(both of which I do at home daily except Sunday) however, I enjoy going to the gym for classes such as Body pump, Zumba, Body flow and Aqua Aerobics.

I was at a plateau when I purchased Hip Hop Abs with Shaun T and decided to give it a try despite my coordination challenges. I had also purchased zumba dvd's by Beto Perez and they got here in time for me to begin on this past Monday (February23rd). I have followed Shaun T's 6 day diet challenge which is a high protein/low carb diet to the T. Since Monday, I have lost 2 lbs and will measure loss of inches on Sunday. I was at a plateau for about 3 weeks. If you want to have fun doing cardio, try these programs. You won't be sorry, especially if you like to dance. It's a blast! What's funny is my husband does it and sweats something fierce and he loves it. I do my strength training at the gym 3 days a week for the most part.

Hip Hop Abs helped break my Plateau!!!
health4life replied to health4life's topic in Fitness & Exercise
I've read where women shouldn't drop below 1200 calories. It's really based on your height, weight, age and how active you are. Here is a link where you can calculate what your intake should be. Of course for us lapbanders, the number of calories may be difficult to get in because of the amount of food we can consume at one sitting. This is why more frequent smaller meals are good in my opinion. Calories Per Day Calculator - Basal Metabolic Rate -
Hi Heidi! It's going GREAT for me. I am about 1.4 lbs shy of a 50 lb weight loss and I feel better than I have in a long time. How is everything going for you?

Exercising...but Gaining?? Please Help!!
health4life replied to MississippiGirl's topic in Fitness & Exercise
Check your calorice intake. Journaling is the best way to determine this. Are you doing any kind of weight training? If so, that could be the reason for the gain as it builds muscle which is what burns fat. Cardio is great everyday. I started Hip Hop Abs by Shaun T and followed his diet and lost 2 lbs in 3 days which broke my plateau. Best wishes! -
I had it sometime ago and it was very painful. I wasn't permitted to eat anything with hulls or a shell such as; peas, lima beans, corn, nuts, popcorn etc... This has nothing to do with the band and everything with your diet.

Hip Hop Abs helped break my Plateau!!!
health4life replied to health4life's topic in Fitness & Exercise
First, congratulations on your surgery. Don't be so hard on yourself. Discipline is our best friend, however, we slip up sometimes and the best thing to do is look forward. You can't change the past, just don't continue to repeat it. Try not to fall below 1000 calories as you will find it difficult to continue losing weight. I'm not sure if you watch the Biggest Loser, but like they say, you must eat to lose and especially if you are working out intensely. I'm glad to know someone else that has Hip Hop Abs. I think Shaun T is so motivating and if my Husband is doing it too, it must truly be fun. You'd have to know my Husband to fully understand. I love Zumba as well and actually I think I like it better. I combine the Hip Hop Abs with a Zumba daily in addition to what I do at the gym. I'm almost at 6 months post op and I'm close to 50lbs weight loss. I am so excited I can't see straight. By the way, what kind of weight loss did you experience when you began Hip Hop Abs? I'm curious. Take care! -
Does any one have regrets on being banded?
health4life replied to gottaloseit's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
No way. I just wished I had it much sooner than I did. -
What was your recovery time?
health4life replied to mynewlife09's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
There's no way I could have gone back to work that soon. It took me at least 2 weeks to get back into the swing of things. I went back to my calendar and saw that at 2 1/2 weeks after my surgery I went to a wedding. -

3 days post op-wish I could have dieted when I had the chance.
health4life replied to Linda Hawkins's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I think the majority of those who had surgery felt this way at some point post op. I certainly did and regretted it until about 2 weeks post op. After that I began feeling so much better and now after over 5 months I don't regret it at all. I'm looking forward to a healthier future. You'll be fine in a couple of weeks or less. -
I was banded Sept 2, 2008 and have lost 46 lbs to date but I have been there now for at least 2 to 3 weeks and I'm taking 3-4 exercise classes a week (sometimes more) and training a couple times a week for 30 min at a time. I have good restriction and eat pretty healthy so I'm not really sure what I should be doing? I know other banders have been where I am. What did you do to get over your plateau?
-
I have a 10cc band and I'm at 4.8 cc's which was my third fill at which time I felt good restriction. quote=alyciaboo;1147896]:thumbup:can i just ask what type of band and size do most people have cause your fills dont seem the same as mine ive got an ap small with 10cc capacity ive had 2 fills so far and im at 6cc they have told me i wont have more than 8cc in my band
-
Thanks! I have been consumed with weighing myself. I will start measuring more and weigh less.
-
This may be it. I will try journaling again. Thanks!
-
If I were to get a fill right now I would be PB'ing ALL the time. I have very good restriction. I'm just now sure if I should pick up the workout intensity. I may be eating too little. I'm going to begin journaling again.

Liquid vitamins...has anyone tried this brand?
health4life posted a topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I hate chewable vitamins and have been in a search for a liquid vitamin. I found and just purchased a product online that Muhamed Ali's daughter took after her LB surgery. (link The Bariceutical Prescription, liquid vitamins exclusively designed for biaratric patients and bypass patients, the only one in the world.) I just wondered if any of my fellow Lapbanders on here have either heard of this product or used it. If you use or have used this product, please give me your honest opinion of what it did/n't do for you. -
Cheese sticks, 2% Fage greek yogurt, sardines, tuna etc... During a snack you should eat a protein as it will help curb your appetite longer. I ate brown rice 1 month after surgery. I'm not sure what your Dr. recommends though. Follow your Dr's. instructions. Good luck to you. By the way, 12/11 is me and my husbands anniversary.

Serious Second Thoughts
health4life replied to Melissa Anne's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The anxiety and doubt you are experiencing is so normal. I had them too, but being 5 months post op, I wish I had done it sooner. As far as I'm concerned, for me, the lapband is my one of my miracle workers. It makes losing weight easier and sustanable although you still must do your part. It is your decision and you must be 100% sure that this is what you want and you're willing to do what it takes to make the band work for you. I trust you will make the decision to do what's in your best interest. Good luck! -
I wasn't able to have salad until 4 weeks after surgery but I do very well with salad. Just chew chew chew. That's the key.

What FINALLY made you decide to get banded??
health4life replied to Mrs_Mauricio's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Mine was when I decided to travel with my husband on a business trip and for the very first time ever, I had to get a seatbelt extension. At that point, I said "this will NEVER happen again"!!! I tried to lose it on my own for over a year to only lose 36 lbs and new I needed another weight loss tool, thus the wonderful lapband. I wish I had made the decision way before I did. I am very happy with my decision. -
Max. amount of carbs and sugars?????
health4life replied to autparhar's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
In the manual my Dr. gives to all of his patients under "Guidelines To Follow": Eat until comfortable NOT FULL Choose Protein first, vegis second, carbs last Eat slowly, chew well Don't drink 30 minutes before or 30 minutes after meals Avoid high calorie liquids Exercise daily Protein: Men: 80-100gm/d Women: 60-80 48-64 ounces Fluid per day Carbohydrates: 50-60 gm/d Fats 4-5 gms per meal I hope this helps. -
For those of you who don't know if "your" LB is working for you or have had your band and are not losing weight, read this article and try this 5 day pouch test. Although I am restricted pretty good, I am going to take the test myself and report my results. I encourage you to do the same. They also have liquid Vitamins that was formulated by a band patient who basically had no energy by 5 in the evening, thus becoming a couch potato. Vitamins are important and I HATE chewable vitamins but have never 100% completely felt any different taking vitamins. I will try these as well and report my results. If you would like to do the same, you will see the BariCeutical Vitamins in the column to the right of the article and 5 day pouch test plan. Click and read about. It's pretty darn interesting. :cursing: Surgical Weight Loss 5 Day Pouch Test
