I'm 14 months post op and have lost almost 75lbs. It takes time. Exercise and eat right and you'll notice results. Don't get so hung up on the "number" but how your clothes feel.

Gross...but at least it was yours and not someone elses.

How often do you weigh yourself?
health4life replied to LouLouBell's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I weigh daily! I know it's not good, but it helps keep me motivated whether I see loss or gain. One thing I have realized though is the number doesn't really matter as much as how your clothes fit. Although I still register a 200+ weight, I am in between a size 14/16. That's a great feeling from a size 22/24. -
does anyone regret having the surgery over losing weight on there own?
health4life replied to fatgirlnomore7's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Losing the weight on our own would have been a great accomplishment but that's just one piece of the puzzle, you must keep it off and that's why I do not regret having the surgery AT ALL!!! I would do it all over again and certainly wished I had done it much sooner than I did. -
I am fairly restricted now and sort of like it that way. However
health4life replied to kplant's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Sounds like you need a slight unfill. I have had 2 and need a 3rd. What's funny is that after my 2nd unfill, I felt really good for over a month and then all of a sudden I have been experiencing discomfort with drinking water so eating is becoming a challenge. I can eat, but I feel great discomfort. I'm scheduled for a slight unfill for the 3rd time. What makes this band feel tight for no apparent reason? Has anyone else experienced this? -

AND I DIDN'T GAIN A POUND!!! WOOHOOOOOOOOO! Never before in my life have I ever gone on a cruise or vacation and didn't come back with weight gain. I did get stuck once and PB'd, but I certainly watched it the remainder of the time. I'm perfectly restricted. Thanks Dr. C and staff!

Went on a cruise 2 weeks ago...
health4life replied to health4life's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Which cruise did you go on? Who knows, we may have been on the same one. The main thing is that you lost what you gained and 2 lbs is nothing. It was more than likely Water. -
1 fill costs $350??? What the heck? They are making all kind of money doing fills. That's crazy. I'm glad my first 2 years included my fills.

Thanks! I had to be strategic about what I ate because there were soooo many things that looked so good. Probably my biggest downfall was ice cream. I ate ice cream probably 2 times per day, but I couldn't eat very much stick to your ribs food. Mostly salad, meat and vegis., some pizza. -
WHY is it fine one day and too tight the next?
health4life posted a topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I haven't had a fill in a few months, as a matter of fact I had some removed? One day I feel just fine with my restriction the next day food struggles to get down and I feel uncomfortable. Why the inconsistencies? -

dieting while on lapband?
health4life replied to moviestartaal's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Lap Band is not really a tool change the way we eat, but how much we eat. It's out of control. Changing the way we eat is a condition of the mind. You have to make a conscious effort to change the way you eat. I eat regular foods but in much smaller portions than I did pre band. That has enabled me to lose over 70 lbs. I've always pretty much ate good food, but I didn't know when to stop piling it on. It's amazing now to go out and eat only 1/2 of a meal that I normally would have smashed and then want more. I am AMAZED! I LOVE my band. -
Greek yogurt is fabulous!!! I like it plain with 2 pkts of splenda or honey, mixed fresh berries w/diced bananas, 2 t-spoons granola with walnunts. You can also add it to your protein shake. YUMMY! I mostly eat the FAGE brand.

How long have you had your band and are you still happy?
health4life replied to Beka's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I've had my band now for 1 year and 1 month and I LOVE my band!!! I had some pain and discomfort but I was determined to get to the bottom of it. Turned out to be a tad bit too tight and some reflux was causing the pain. Easily remedied! I was NOT going to allow that to discourage me. I would do it all over again. -
My Husband and I took up bike riding 4 months ago and we LOVE it! Now that it's cool, I love it even more. I will ride for as long as there is no snow and ice.

Breathing tube question
health4life replied to gbakerc's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
No! Mine was out when I awoke. I would have been completely traumatized if that tube was still in my throat when I awoke. Best wishes. -

Hello everyone. Well today I had a slight unfill (.3cc's) My last fill was Dec 2nd and in April I began experiencing some discomfort in my sternum area. I called the Dr and they told me what to do and I did it. I felt better but last week eating became increasingly difficult and painful. I went to the Dr and did an xray under flurofill (sp) and found the barium went down as it was supposed to and nothing was wrong with my band, so they told me. They believe it's an issue with my food. I may not be chewing it good enough and will become more aware of my chewing. I am hoping and praying this unfill will not interfere with the amount of restriction too much. Has anyone else had to do this? If so, what was the reason?
