Terrible headaches during pre-op diet, HELP!
health4life replied to hfalola's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm experiencing the same thing on my pre op diet of Medifast. I feel like crap today. Probably no more than withdrawl from sugar and/or caffeine. You should get over it rather soon. Medicine may not help, but I take 1 low dose asprin and 3 ibuprofins. Seems to help. Your surgery is just before mine. I'm Sept. 2. Well wishes. -
Long term liquids pre-op diet question
health4life replied to RestlessMonkey's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Be thankful that you can do this sort of diet...my Dr. has me on a 2 week Medifast diet which is pkg. foods and disgusting. I wish I could have a piece of chicken or fish or low carb veggies. My breakfast consisted of a vanilla shake and I have a headache from being on this diet and my stomach is growling. I don't think sugar free gum is a problem. They want the regular sugar out of our system. I'm the one going nuts right now. My 16 year old daughter went and go chinese won tong soup last night and I drank some of her broth. Sounds appetising huh? I'm trying stay focused on my goal. Have fun eating chicken and fish while I eat pre pkgd. food. -
Kristi, Here are a couple I looked up for you and would be easy to get to from where you are coming from. Give them a call and see if they'll do your fill. Good luck. Community Hospital North 7250 Clearvista Parkway, Suite 355 Indianapolis, IN 46256 Phone: 317-621-7771 Toll-Free: 866-621-7771 Community Surgical Associates 13050 Parkside Drive, Suite 250 Fishers, IN 46038-8235 Phone: 317-621-2500 Fax: 317-621-2503

Can anything be pureed for mushies?
health4life replied to *slim*'s topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
My nutritionist recommended buying or making a chicken salad you like to puree and Wendy's chili pureed is good. I will try both when I'm at that stage. Although I must say the thought of pureed chicken sounds disgusting...but after eating food on the Medifast diet (2 wk pre opt diet), pureed chicken doesn't sound all that bad. That food is SICK!!! -
That's exactly why I'm not having my surgery here in Indiana. I have mine in OH on Sept 2nd. Have you tried an bariactric surgery center in Indianapolis? I know St Vincents has a bariatric center. Not sure who else does. Hope you find someone soon.

health4life replied to Snowgator's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Chris, who's doing your surgery? I live in Indiana and am driving to OH to have surgery by Dr. Trace Curry on September 2nd. I'm 44, married to a wonderful Man and have 3 children and a pet child toy poodle who is my baby. Congratulations! We have to keep one another encouraged. I just started my 2 week pre op medifast diet. Looking forward to surgery and weight loss. -
Thank you Jesus.....
health4life replied to gg2007BandSTAR's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I started my 2 week pre op medifast diet today. It's not the worse, but it has to be better than an ALL liquid diet. It has a little variety but not very tasty compared to what I'm use to eating. I had to keep myself from smelling the chicken noodle Soup or I would be sick. I'm gonna try the pudding this afternoon. The shake isn't that bad. I'm gonna hang in there in anticipation of my September 2nd surgery. Thank God!!! -
Congratulations! Everything will go well and you will be on the road to weight loss forever. Good Luck!

Great question!!! I was just thinking about starting a thread asking "what is a list of highly recommended pureed foods and what pureed foods are not recommended at all?" You are on point. It'll be interesting to see the responses. :Banane34: -
Shoulder Pain and Hunger
health4life replied to kris74745's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm praying that I don't experience that shoulder pain. I'm glad you had a great experience. I'm looking forward to it. How are you doing with diet and exercise? How has your overall experience been with the surgery. -
Shoulder Pain and Hunger
health4life replied to kris74745's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm having my surgery with Dr. Curry on Sept. 2nd. On a scale of 1-10 with 10 being the worse, how bad was the shoulder pain? I want to know what to expect. I understand this is normal with this procedure, but it was explained to me that it was because of gas in the stomach which I would think would be temporary. -
Since Obesity is such a growing health concern, it has been stated that with obesity weight loss surgery, we may be eligible for a tax write off. I'm also wondering if the purchase of fitness equipment falls into that same category? Anyone work for the IRS or is an accountant that may know the answer to this question?

I love my band!!!!
health4life replied to donnabarney's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
That is so wonderful. I am so happy to hear this. I am 2 1/2 weeks away from having my surgery and I'm starting to get a little nervous. This helps alot. What is your exercise routine? Have you had trouble with vomiting your food back up? I don't mean to sound gross, but this is one thing that concerns me because I HATE vomiting. Thanks for sharing your good news and congrats! -
Live in Indiana, having surgery in Ohio. I hadn't heard enough about the Lap Band Doctors in Indiana, so I went where I heard loads of great things about the Dr. doing my surgery.

Not a problem. I totally agree that you should celebrate this new birthday. I will be doing the same every September 2nd. Trust me, the clothes will be alot more attractive next September, guarantee! I think it would be a great idea for someone to organize a lap band weight loss cruise. I may start that as a new forum. Be looking for it. Anyway, my goal is to: lose 130 lbs be small and healthy live til I'm 100 buy a whole new wardrobe in NY city I live in Indiana and I am having surgery in Ohio. I'll check in once surgery is over. -

HELP! I have a fatty liver/any tips or tricks?
health4life replied to RestlessMonkey's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My surgeon has me doing Medi-Fast for 2 weeks prior to surgery. This is what he has his patients on and has not had a problem as long as patient takes as prescribed. -
Well...at my psyc. eval. I had to complete a questionaire with over 300 questions. Questions such as: Do you have thoughts of harming yourself? Do you feel someone is out to get you? Do you enjoy harming pets? Do you love your Father? Do you love your mother? Did you steal as a child? etc... After that I talked to the Psyc. and he asks you about thoughts of harming yourself, depression, do you feel you understand the surgery and it's potential sided affects etc... If you are of sound mind, shouldn't be an issue. My husband was sure he was gonna send me home with Prozac LOL Aside from all those crazy questions on the questionaire, it was easy. Hope all goes well for you.

I have never been able to find a comfortable enough bicycle seat to ride a bike so I sold all our bikes. Is there a recommendation on a bike with a comfortable seat or a comfortable seat sold separately. It needs to be wide to accomodate my wide behind.

I love my band!!!!
health4life replied to donnabarney's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
WOW! You've done great! My trainer has always told me that you should change your exercise routine and do different things to confuse your body into weight loss. Your muscles get use to the same routine and it's not as effective. I think you're onto something with the bike. Best wishes. -
Please recommend a COMFORTABLE, WIDE Bicycle seat

I hope to join your thread soon after I have surgery which is on the 2nd of Sept. Thanks for the invite. I noticed you had your surgery on my daughters birthday. You've done quite well with losing weight. Aside from the band, what else do you attribute your weight loss success to? Congrats! -

I haven't purchased a bike yet. What is the difference between the standard bike and a hybrid? I have my surgery Sept. 2nd and would like to start riding in a local park with a rolling terrain. My current weight is 279 but I plan to lose some on the pre opt medi-fast diet. Thanks and I hope to see you on the Bicycle forum. -
I went to my consultation today and was scheduled to have LB surgery on September 2, 2008!!! I can't wait. Pray for a safe surgery, quick recovery and successful weight loss. Thanks.
