Gall Bladder problems and Lap band
health4life replied to Blix's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I've never heard this. What are the symptoms? I'm 2 months post op, but thankfully with NO complications. -
I think what flipman meant to type was "The only things in life you regret, Are the risks that you didn't take."

8 days later and starving...help!
health4life replied to jenmorgan55's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My Dr. allows pureed foods 24 to 48 hours after surgery. I started pureed 48 hours after surgery for 2 weeks (which included protein shakes) and have had NO complications. Every Dr. is different though. Follow your Dr's. advice. The protein will help curb your appetite. -

I'm gonna tell you exactly what is in my manual given to me by my Dr. to follow after surgery: Stage 1: Clear liquid diet (24 hours) You will begin the clear liquid diet the day of your surgery, when your surgeon feels it is appropriate. The main goal at this point is just to keep you well hydrated. You will remain on this diet for 24 hours or until your surgeon or dietitian advance you. DO NOT TAKE IT UPON YOUR SELF TO ADVANCE YOUR DIET SOONER THAN RECOMMENDED! Stage 2: Puree Diet (2 wks) About 24 hours after surgery you will be advanced to the pureed diet. This is the point where you will begin introducing Protein into the diet. The texture of the foods that you will be consuming should be like baby food or mashed potatoes. NO SOLID foods are allowed on this diet. DO NOT EAT ANY solid food DURING THIS STAGE. During this stage it is important to be sure your food is baby food consistency. No chunks. You will put undo stress on your band and could cause costly damage. You will get to the solid food stage soon enough. At this point healing is key. Good luck! You CAN do this. -

Pre-op Diet Question
health4life replied to falcon66's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My Dr. has ALL his patients do the Medifast pre-op diet. I did it for 2 weeks, lost 15 lbs and my surgery was a huge success and lasted only 15 minutes. -
not constipated feeling, but not going either....normal or no?
health4life replied to Losing_It_In_Texas's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm a FIRM believer in Colonics and probiotics. Where I get my colonics they sell a probiotic (good bacteria) made with cabbage, carrots and ginger. It's not really good but with pumpkin seed oil it's not bad. It's very good for the stomach. Search for your local colonic provider. It'll do your colon and world of good. -

The burp part wouldn't be bad, it's the productive part that is alarming. I know it's just unchewed food, but that's gross. I read on here where someone PB'd and rechewed the food and swallowed and I thought I'd throw up. -
My Dr.'s manual says to eat 3 meals and 2 small snacks per day. It is in my opinion that this is the best way to achieve healthy weight loss.

How soon can i exercise after surgery?
health4life replied to alteration's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Did you not get a manual? I have a pretty big manual my Dr. gave me so feel free to ask me anything and if I don't know I'll refer to my manual. Go ahead a take a nice walk today and enjoy it. -
Although I don't have really great restriction, I have some and what I have found to be really easy to eat, especially for breakfast or snack is some greek yogurt with berries of all kinds and maybe some banana with granola and splenda. It's so yummy and easy to eat.

How soon can i exercise after surgery?
health4life replied to alteration's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Your Dr. should have given you the answer to this question. For me, my Dr. said just walking daily for the first 2 weeks then I could resume other exercises in moderation. I was also instructed to not lift, tug, push or pull anything beyond 20 lbs. for 2 weeks. Good luck. -
YIPEE, YAHOO....I've lost 50 pounds!!!

We're all in the same boat. We may as well support one another. I so appreciate all the veterans such as luluc. We're trying to get to where she is. Thanks luluc for being an inspiration! They are truly "band" savers! -

I've not had the problem of getting food stuck in my throat. But when it goes down and feels like it's struggling to go down, I have made the mistake of drinking something and it makes it worse in my opinion. Not quite sure what to do in your case. Sorry I can't be much help. -
Stop! Don't take another bite!
health4life replied to *slim*'s topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Sounds like it wasn't chewed up too good. I am eating a piece of chicken breast right now and if I do not chew it into a puree, I pay dearly. Unfortunately, chicken breast cooked any kind of way is not too band friendly. I have resorted to chicken legs. Try the chewing til it's pureed first before giving Chicken breast up. Good luck to you. -

health4life replied to *slim*'s topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Slim, What were you eating when this happened? It could have been caused by something not too band friendly or too much going down at one time. I have almost PB'd by too much, not chewed up good food. I get that deep chest discomfort and then it passes, but I don't like it so I chew, chew, chew. -

Where would a person buy Greek yogurt?
health4life replied to Losing_It_In_Texas's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I buy mine at the Whole Foods Market because I really like the Fage brand. The individual cups have more protein than the Oikos individual cups although if I'm at Kroger that is closer to me than the WFM I can only get the Oikos brand. They're both good, but I do prefer Fage. I put strawberries, blueberries, raspberries etc... and def. a small amount of granola since it's so high in carbs. I stir in some splenda and mmm good. It's a meal in and of itself and a great snack. Enjoy!!! -
OMG!!! I had my surgery on Sept. 2nd, had my first fill on Sept. 29th and I feel like I could reach out the window of my car and pull a horse in through the window and just chow down. I really have to watch myself. I have started journaling what I am eating or it'll get out of control. That helps keep be balanced. I completely understand what you all are talking about though. I get a 2nd fill on November 1st...thank GOD! Hopefully, I will have better restriction then. Hang in there.

Any non-stinky protein powders out there?
health4life replied to cobrien78's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have the Champion brand Vanilla, Chocolate, Strawberry and Banana Scream and none of them stink. Low in Carbs. too. Oh, I bought them online.
