My husband and I decided that would be our gift to one another this Christmas. We got the Wii bundle with Wii Sports, Fit, Play and Mario Kart. I LOVE the Hula hoop, Yoga, step, balance games, bowling, tennis and even the running is interesting. I do the hula hoop daily in an attempt to rid myself of inches from my mid section. I still love going to the gym to do body pump, zumba and aqua aerobics then chillin in the sauna.

How often do you PB?
health4life replied to lins12's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Before getting banded in Sept, I read about people PB'ing and sliming and since I HATE throwing up, I mean it totally mortify's me I tried to do everything within my power to not PB; however, I have slimed and it's gross enough. I just hung over a toilet and spit til the episode ended, but NEVER have I PB'd...THANK GOD! I try to be very concious of chewing my food before swallowing. If you're distracted it is easy to swallow more than what you intended to and then you wait to see what's gonna happen. It's so much better to concentrate on eating and chewing so you don't risk the chance of something getting stuck. Good luck to you all in this wonderful weight loss journey and lets make some attainable goals for the new year. -
Are there people on here that do body pump? How do you like it and where do you do it?
-
The gym I am a member at offers Les Mills programs. I did body pump with my trainer before being banded and saw great results. I didn't keep the weight off after no longer having my trainer. That's when I had lb surgery. Now I'm back into body pump and certainly follow it up with cardio. I do body pump and zumba back to back on Mondays and through out the remainder of the week find another form of cardio in conjunction with body pump. I've never tried body jam, body flow, body step (i hate regular step classes), body attack or body combat. I think I want to try body combat, body flow and body jam. I LOVE body pump.

Both had it done-One of us regreting it!
health4life replied to angel43072's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Everyone recovers differently. Tell her to be patient, this too shall pass. It took me all of 2 weeks to feel like a halfway normal. My first 2 weeks I second guessed myself and thought what in the world have I done to myself. Now, 3+ months out I'm feeling great and have a steady weight loss. Tell her to keep her head up, be postive and everything will be alright. -
Anyone doing Medifast diet with the Band?
health4life replied to sadie11's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I did the 2 week pre op medifast diet and there is no way in hell I would go back on that nasty diet. That is the grossest food ever. I can tolerate the protein shakes and the pudding but the rest is horrible! I will stick with weight watchers or lean cuisine if I must have a quick meal. I have lost a total of 35 lbs since my pre op diet. -
Lori, We all on here are or were "big" girls or guys. I totally understand how you feel, but you must face your fear and go to the gym. I have found that a group fitness class or aqua aerobics is great for helping to build your confidence in the gym. Also, you may want someone to show you how to use the exercise equipment properly and that will help build your confidence. Get on a bike or an eliptical and have fun with it. You can do it!

Is it possible that when you go in for a fill...
health4life posted a topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
your nurse searches for the port with her fingers, locates it, sticks the needle in and moves it around for about 30 - 50 seconds then tells you to tighten your stomach and when you do the nurse says "there, all done", when it could possibly not be done? Could the saline not make it into the right spot for tightening? And if so, where would the fluid go? How do they know "it's done or it's in the right spot"? I just had the 3rd fill yesterday and so far, I feel no different than I did prior to going in for the fill. Granted, I'm on the pureed stage til tomorrow then soft and then normal on Friday, but wouldn't I notice on the 2nd day if it took or am I being way too impatient. I'm so ready to be at my sweet spot and thought I was really close. I'm a little perplexed and don't know if I should or shouldn't be??? Curious if anyone else has ever thought about this? -

yes. I even eat a greek yogurt with no fruit. They just don't want food getting caught during the fill. -

Where is your port?
health4life replied to Josette's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
When looking down at my port incision, it is slightly to the right of my navel and about 4 inches above it. -
Soda soda soda
health4life replied to MrsFlipFlops's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I totally gave up soda. My Dr. never said don't drink it...they serve it in diet form at support mtgs. I just chose not to indulge anymore and chose to drink more water. I have found it to be better for me and there's no bloating from carbonation. In the past, there was nothing more refreshing than a coke. I haven't had a soda in over 4 months. -
Holy Protein Cow! Cottage Cheese!
health4life replied to sistasassy's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
What brand of greek yogurt are you eating with 22g of proteing per serving? I'm eating fage single serving containers with 17 g of Protein because Oikos single serving containers do not have as much as fage. Please tell me which one you're eating. I want the 22g of protein. I LOVE greek yogurt. I like it with 1-2 t of splenda with fresh berries and a little granola with added walnuts for additional protein. It's a great night time snack. -
Has anyone flown witht he band?
health4life replied to Jaceesmom03's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
This is great to know. I'm flying to Paris next week and that's a long flight. I certainly do not want lb complications due to flying. -
FYI about Hair Loss
health4life replied to mamalovell's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I hear these stories about hair loss and thank God I have a lot of thick hair which means a little hair loss won't be as noticeable. I am taking biotin now which should help with that. Good luck to you all! -
weight watchers on the band?
health4life replied to Lshelley21's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I can't think of any reason a person couldn't and shouldn't do WW. I think it's a great idea to help keep yourself on track. WW is the only diet program my Doctor will reccomend. I also don't see why it is important for WW to know you had LB surgery. I certainly wouldn't tell them. -
Miracle cure for constipation...at least for me
health4life replied to Losing_It_In_Texas's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
There's Apricot nectar...not sure if it will do the same as the dried apricots, but it must have something to do with what's in the apricot and I can't see why it wouldn't work. If you can use prunes and prune juice I would assume it would be the same with apricots and apricot nectar. The nectar is delicious too. -
Hi Marty,
I'm doing really great. I had my second fill Nov 1st and much to my surprise, I lost 12 lbs the previous month. I am now at 31 lbs total since pre op diet. Hang in there. You will get some restriction. Remember to eat your protein as it keeps you fuller longer. That's what helps me the most and I get on the treadmill or do body pump which kicks my behind. Take care.

So sorry to hear that your fill experience was a painful one. I had my second fill last Sat. and it was a breeze and just a pinch, NO PAIN. Everyone is obviously not a fill specialist. Hopefully you'll have a better experience the next time.

My Family Member Said I can Do It On my Own
health4life replied to mollymai's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Notice how not all of the contestants on the "Biggest Loser" have kept their weight off. It's a struggle and with the band and proper restriction, you can not only lose the weight healthily, but keep it off. If you work the band, it will work for you! Don't let others place fear in you. Do what your heart tells you to do. I am enjoying my band and to date have lost well over 25 lbs in less than 2 1/2 months. Good luck!
