What to bring to the hospital??
Minxz replied to ReadyOrNot's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Can I ask a somewhat gross question about post op lapband needs...Since you are sore from Surgery.. how do you wipe after using the restroom? I think I saw someone suggestbuying some tongs to hold the TP and extend their reach. Has anyone else felt a need to do this? -

Minxz replied to hessekids's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am so glad I didn't have to do that test That is a long long test! -

Minxz replied to Lady Lap Band's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have my apt with the Surgeon March 16 I believe I will be scheduling my surgery then. I am very excited. I would love to get this done ASAP -
Anyone try vibration therapy - amazing!
Minxz replied to cookiebaby's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
This reminds me of a Betty Boop cartoon I saw a long time ago. I'm not counting anything out though. Keep us posted  -
I really hope I can report the same as you guys when I get banded. I wonder why some people have such problems with the gas pains and others don't?

Minxz replied to MADE IT 2 MY GOAL..OH YEAH's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Perhaps you were retaining a lot of fluid? -
I have a question. I want to start the couch to 5 k program and was planning on doing it at lunch. I have started walking with a coworker and want to continue. Can I jog next to her and count the time will that be as good of a work out?

I was told we aren't supposed to have coffee because the acidity can cause ulcers... I honestly dont know if I will be able to stick to 100% no coffee Perhaps just severely limited :cursing:

My understanding is that they will not unless you can make an extensive case proving medical necessity

DH wants me to cancel surgery 2/3/09 HELP
Minxz replied to heather1434's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Has your husband spoken of his concerns to the surgeon? Can you take him to a Lapband support group? If he is really concerned perhaps more information can help ease his fears! -
I have been eying this program for awhile. I really want to try it. In preparation I need to get some good gear. First and foremost I need a really good exercising bra? What do you ladies recommend
-
What are your concerns with telling your Mum? There are so many reasons they could react negatively: fear for you, lack of understanding of the danger of being heavy, feeling attacked (is she heavy), Control... etc

NJ - Looking Fine in 2009 Exercise Thread
Minxz replied to SherryW's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I've been sticking with it. I am a bit stiff since I jumped into exercise again but feeling a little more upbeat! -
Its sounds like before she was reved up and hopeful. Time has passed and now you are pregnant and she is not. Being envious is not pretty but I can understand that deep visceral desire and knowing you have what she wants can make her act ugly. Its not fair to you but perhaps understanding it can make it hurt less?

I bet that a big part of this (not that you ladies don't look great) is everyone's improved confidence. Everyone that is losing weight and feeling better about themselves is probably putting out completely different vibes than when you were unhappy with where you were. That's just a thought though

Kaiser does it as outpatient as well. So I am guessing that unless there is a problem I will be going home same day.

Let's talk about POOP...FLOATERS OR SINKERS
Minxz replied to health4life's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I was told that if it floats your not eating enough protein but thinking about it I dont know if that makes sense? -
I love the balance games. I love the boxing I get a good workout from that. My arms and waist get sore from it. I really like the advanced step as well. I put in arm movements and extra spring in my step. I think I might eventually add some weights to it. I don't love the hula hoop because it hurts lol but I do it and I am sore from it!

I believe the weight limit for the boards sold in the US is 330. I know a lot of people say the work outs aren't hard enough (definately not a problem for me) the thing is any workout can be made more difficult depending on how much energy you put in it if your keeping your core tight etc...

An obervation on what scared most of us before our Lap-Band surgery.
Minxz replied to Locomotive Engineer's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I'm a Prebander and I can agree with the fear of losing that solace in food... The other half of me is afraid that this wont work either.. -

The DDR was fun but I was having trouble with it. The commentary started to sound a little frustrated with me. It is a great aerobic workout though. Especially since they added hand movements. -
Additionally they want you to lose the weight to shrink your liver. They want to do the surgery laproscopically and the instrument used to lift your liver only comes in one length. If your liver is to enlarged to lift out of the way with the instrument they cant complete the surgery. (at least that is the explanation the gave at orientation... I have some questions lol)

Do you take off your shoes?
Minxz replied to argon's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Different places seem to have different customs. In Canada.. you took your shoes off (at least where I lived), Ecuador you didn't. Here in Cali.. I respect the wishes of the home I am in. Most don't ask you to take your shoes off. Those that do are usually very clean conscious so I am comfortable complying. In my home I don't have people take their shoes off. I don't have any carpet (I'm a pet owner) and no matter how well trained the animals are they still can leave unwelcome surprises. -
Up here (Nor Cal) I have been told that you cant get the surgery until you lose the recommended weight. Also even if you lose enough weight where your BMI is lowered you will still get the surgery. I am not sure if its the same down south.
