I am starting to find clothes that are just too baggy in my closet.. YAY!

Make yourself available to do active and healthy activities together but don't make your friendship about you coaching her to lose weight. Sure she wants to but it will discourage her as you lose better due to the band and she may start to resent your success. Not because she is a bad person but because its less painful to focus the negative emotion on you than herself. If she REALLY wants to lose weight she will ask you for suggestions and do research on her own as well.

Does anyone feel like life with the band is too hard?
Minxz replied to lindsayb's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I thought she meant food by her best friend? I could be way off though. In the end its about what is more important because you do lose some things. For me, I just couldn't stand feeling as poorly as I did and knowing it was only going to get worse. I already miss the solace I found in food. It wasn't a healthy relationship though. -
Want to start running...need encouragement
Minxz replied to Claudine1975's topic in Fitness & Exercise
There is a podcast!! So cool! I will have to download it when I get home. I am on the second week of the cto5k. I was surprised I was able to move on to it right away but I am not sure about the third week. 90 seconds at a time is a real challenge I don't see me handling 3 and 5 minute intervals yet. As far as looking funny I have come to terms with that I mean I am shuffling almost 300 lbs forward in an awkward jog while puffing like a steam engine. I know I look funny.. I'm ok with that lol. I just wonder what the people who walk by me think when I am in my recovery walking beet faced and puffing lol. I want to say "you just missed it but I was running back there honest Im not so out of shape that walking did this to me.:blushing:" -
I did not work out yesterday but I will make up for it today. I started the second week of the Cto5k before work and after I will do Curves. I am planning on a 10 mile hike this Saturday.

Man it would be awesome if there were more threads like this! Its so wonderful you are here looking for ways to support your wife. I haven't read every post but I'm sure the basics have been covered here is one that was and is very important to me. Don't pressure/watch her. Band results are not as drastic initially as something like a bypass. Support her and love her even when she messes up. Don't judge or watch every bite she puts in her mouth. Positive reinforcement is much better than negative!! Support it if the diet of the house changes. Walk/exercise with her if you can. That is my 2 cents

Success/experiences the first month??
Minxz replied to Agnes's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I lost almost 14 lbs right away but then I started eating and gained back 6. I am almost back down to the full 14 and hoping to get a little under that before my first fill. -
Im in Bandster hell with you ladies. Really pushing the exercise. I am pretty good food wise up until I get home. I just get so hungry I have a really hard time keeping my portions small. I can't wait for my fill which had to be moved forward to July 13th:sad:
-
I sure hope it gets easier to get on and off. If not I may have to downgrade a little. Support is awesome but not much good if I want to go for a run and DH isn't home to help!!

I did Curves in the AM and will be doing my second installment of the Cto5k tonight.

If you are doing 20 g or less of carbs a day it should take 2-3 days (on average) I am planning on switching to low carb in a couple weeks. I just want to finish running through these left over Nutrisystem meals lol

These doodads are expensive! I just realized that the Gofit and Bodybugg require monthly subscription fees on top of the hardware. I was told I should get a HRM but I think for now I will hold off since these all appear to be $100+

Laughing I did my map and It was quite a bit shorter than I had estimated. Oh well. I am going on my second run tonight. Feeling a bit more psyched about it. My gear was comfortable though my running bra needs 4 hands to get on. Husband helps me when I holler pitiably from the bedroom he does his best to stifle his laugh as I tend to look like a twisted Picasso half in and half out of the thing..

I feel your pain Gonnage. I am in the same place and my fill isn't until the 13th because my Dr doesn't have any openings before then :smile2:. I have next to no restriction and am struggling on staying low cal. I am doing pretty good with exercise though.

I started my first week last night. It was ..tough.. I know my shuffling gasping jog is a far cry from that elegant run I hope to some day attain but its a first step! What are people using to clock the distance they are using?

I am another late comer I didn't see this thread but have been exercising regularly this month. I go to Curves before work Mon-Friday and I was walking for an hour Mon, Wed, Fri and Sat but as of yesterday I started the couch to 5 k program and last nights walk involves short bursts of me attempting to run.. lol

I finally have the $ together to buy running shoes and "support" I am hoping to get them this weekend and then start the program *gulp* still a little nervous. Running has always been uncomfortable. Not just the out of shape part just things always seem to hurt. I'm hoping with proper equipment I can adjust.

I'm hungry lol. Trying to stick to my 1000 calories been a struggle. First fill isn't till July 1st. Hope it helps!

DON?T WAIT TO BUY NEW CLOTHES, Too Funny
Minxz replied to CarmenPonce's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I am set for clothes for the most part for the next 50 or 60lbs. Most the clothes I buy can be worn with a 30 lb variation and I have a big bin of clothes that I didn't have the heart to throw marked for 220lbs. Cant wait to wear some of it again. Great story made me laugh! -
How do you know when you have eaten too much??
Minxz replied to pephlin's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Thank You I needed to hear that. I feel like you originally did and am really looking forward to some restriction! -
Not losing and desperate!!!! Help!
Minxz replied to lots of dimples's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Im with you Lots of dimples. Right now I am trying really hard not to gain. I'm hungry and have no restriction. I have been great about exercise and am trying really hard to stay at about 1000 calories a day. Its a struggle and if I was good at this I would not have chosen to do WLS. So I am taking it one day at a time right now. Praying it doesn't take me 6 months to get to my sweet spot lol. -
What online food tracking program do you use???
Minxz replied to pephlin's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I use Fitday.com It lets me track calories, protein, carbs even vitamins and such if I want. I can track measurements and weight plus activity. IF they don't have it I can add it easy and its free :ihih: -
I am 5'10" my huzby is very tall though so I could wear any size heel I want (6'6") I understand being self concious about being taller than your mate and everyone else I grew up in South America where my 5'3" mother was on the tall side for a woman. I think its about how you feel if being taller than your DH makes you feel big and clunky I wouldnt do it. but if heels make you feel sexy and he likes them go for it!

I fully understand justpeachy. The moment I went on solids my scale jumped 5 lbs. Finally after keeping to 1200 a day and exercising its starting to go back down I am really hoping to be back where I "started" by beginning of next week and then start seeing some actual progress. I cant wait until I get to my "sweet spot" trying not to dwell on the fact it can take months to get there. Hang in there most of us banditos are in the "bandster hell" right now.

 That is awesome Great job!
