During an anxiety attack one day sitting on my living room floor a commercial came on for a lapband education seminar with a phone number to call. I immediately called that number and asked to just come in for a one to one consultation instead of group seminar. I had just been diagnosed earlier that day with high blood pressure and was completely scared to death of my future living large. I started the process of insurance requirements from 6 month physician and nutrition visits as well as sleep studies. I was banded in Jan 2009 and have lost over 110 lbs to date. It has not been easy and I find that since losing the first 100 lbs that I have found myself in a very emotional state. Looking to get more online support and outside support to reach my goal which is another 50 lbs lost. I will say that LapBand saved my life and I was completely off any medication after 2 weeks of my surgery. I rarely take anything for pain or headaches and definitely no problems with my blood pressure anymore. I still suffer from anxiety attacks for which I am now going to seek medical assistance as I realize that that anxiety attack 2 years ago may not have been all weight related. Having this surgery is an emotional and mind as well as physical change. You have to get it in your head first before you can be successful with the band. If your mind doesn't shift the way it thinks then the surgery is a temporary fix. This is a lifelong shift for me and one I need to completely embrace emotionally.
