When did you have to pay?

Thats funny! I have noticed that already...I am just glad my max changed. I was trying so hard to get it done last year, but that 12 days probably saved me $1500.00. Since I have already had surgery, I will just wait for a bill I guess If not, theres a nice bump in my savings account...

    Can you feel your port?

now that I am almost 2 weeks post op I have been "feeling around" I am pretty sure that I can feel it now. It is basically RIGHT under my incision. I was thinking it wouldnt be right there. I can feel it pretty easy, so I am HOPING that it isnt going to be sticking out one day :scared2:
  3. Today is my 6th day post op and I am feeling like I am really hungry. The broth and Jello don't feel like they are doing ANYTHING for me! I feel like I need like a pb&j or something I used to be slightly hypoglycemic and would need to eat things like that when I was "empty". I hope this hunger doesnt stay after my next phases of diet progression. Oh I can't wait for something with some texture...
  4. I see that a couple of us are getting banded on January 12th! I just thought we could have a thred of our own :tongue2: Why not right, there are like 3 of us (probably more). I will start by saying a little about myself... I am 23, living in Modesto California. I am getting banded by dr. higa in Fresno at 9am. My current weight is 280 and my goal weight is 175 (for now anyways). I am married and have been for almost 4 years I can't wait to live a skinny life!!! Can't wait to meet the other 12thers...

    Feeling VERY hungry :(

Well, It has been a few days and I must say I am feeling 100% better. I had 1 really BAD day with feeling so hungry. I solved that by adding some hot tea with honey. I wanted to comment on my dieticiens protien shakes note...It states more that you can buy special Protein shakes if you want, but in her opinion it is an expensive way to slow weight loss. You can buy them if you want. She isn't saying that protein is bad and forbidden, just that in the first week you would be OK without buying the shakes. Now that I am in stage 2 I am supposed to be buying high protein items. I didnt say that to cause a commotion, so sorry about the no protein comment  Thanks everyone for all the help and advice getting through the first week!

One of those GREAT angles, lol

You look great in this pic
  8. I was starving at this point too. I am one day ahead of you. Hot tea with honey works well...I thought I wasnt going to make it through the day. Where in Ca are you from? i am by Modesto

    Feeling VERY hungry :(

I know what you mean about everyone having such different diets. I am sooooo thankful I didnt have a preop diet, I would have never made it I dont think. No Protein Drinks for me. I think my caloric intake is around 400 cals. My dieticion said that protien slows wl (which I think ou know that from your comment). Today is actually better for me. Someone suggested tea and honey and that has actually been like a life saver for me. Can't wait until tomorrow to see what next week holds for me diet wise. Also, what part of Ca are you from?

hey N Glad you posted to the blog. The more people the better It is really easy and you will get the hang of it soon enough! Aout the layout...It is made to look like the yellow part is sitting on the white...its not blocking anything. I think that is what you were asking about. Jess
  11. I think I overdid it big time today. I am 4 days post op and I drank a glass of fresh squeezed OJ. I was already feeling kinda bad when I was making it...The feeling I used to get when I hadnt eaten in way too long. So, I took a few big drinks (with no water) and then it was down hill from there. I pressed on and went to a friends to play cards and had to abrubtly leave because I felt/feel so nausious. I came home and took a nasea pill and now am sitting here just "waiting it out" Do you think it was from the sugar in the OJ? Or that I just overdid it today? It had been quite a while since I had "eaten" anything and it took a lot of work/standing to make the juice in the first place.

    January 12th bandsters

Hey Ash, I am STARVING too. I was ok up until yesterday...but then, I had an OJ episode (I wrote about that on the blog so I wont go there). Ever since then, I feel like I can't get full. I dont think they go hand in hand but that is just when I notcied. All day today I feel like there is nothing that is going to make me feel full. I've had broth x2, Jello x2 and cranberry juice with Water x3. My diet is pretty much like yours except I can have jello and popsicles. So, I get: juice (cranberry, apple, and grape), jello (sugar free), water, clear broth and popcicles. Someone suggested I try decaf tea with honey. I am going to try that and see how it goes. Do you have myspace or AIM or MSN? or unlimited texts...LOL...maybe we can help each other out

Thanks, I will try the tea. No DR available until Monday (which is my next appt.) so I am on my own until then I think. Except for LBT

Orange Juice a NO NO for me

I think there may have been a lot of pulp. I strained it really well, but when i looked at it today, it was settled to the bottom and it looked like a lot Whatever the reason, I am not going there again. Thanks for your help!
  16. Hey Moonstone, The other thread is in the pre op questions. I think it is still quite a bit more active than this one, just because all of the previous posts are still there?!? Orange Juice a NO NO for me

Thanks for that. I believe it was all due to the OJ now. My hubby said that I wasn't supposed to drink it, that the dieticion said that. But, I didnt remember at all. Then, when I looked online I seen you are not supposed to drink it post op. I was able to "sleep it off" so that was good. I will mention it on monday at my follow up.

Yes, it seems that the worst is finally over I can't believe you are sleeping on your stomach already. I cant even lay on my side yet I did the anxiety attack, and nasea. I hated them both. On the BM...I have more of a lack there of issue. So, I guess I am not too much of a help...but I wish I could just "go" You are definately not alone

Hi Ashley, I just sent your invite...Can't wait to have you blogging with us! My name is Jessica and I am also 23 years old. That tube sounds like no fun at all! Today I sat through dinner with the family for the first time. I had a cup of Jello and one spoon of DISGUSTING broth. I have to go to orientation tomorrow for a telecourse I am taking....So, I hope I do ok. I am going to have my hubby come with me to take my book and carry some stuff  I am on liquids (broth, jello and water) for 7 days. I meet with my doc on Monday and he will give me further instructions.
  20. I kinda thought the same thing yesterday. I was in so much pain and having a slight anxiety attack that I was thinking..."WTH did you do to yourself". I was wishing I had stayed at the hospital longer and was so unsure about everything. My other main concern is just hoping it will last a lifetime...I don't want to go through this again thats for sure :sneaky:

    January 12th bandsters

Well, it is finally over. I honestly wasnt sure what I got myself into last night. I had a mild anxiety attack. I woke up in bed and was freaked out because I couldnt move and hurt really bad. I decided my bed was not the best place for me. It is way to high and too squishy. No weight loss for me. I cam home 2 lbs up. HTH does that happen? I havent eaten in anything besides liquids in 4 days now. OH WELL I GUESS! The weight loss will come soon enough. I know right now is just about healing. Does anyone else have pain when they breathe? It is really hard to explain, like if I take a breathe while standing or laying down, sometimes I get a really sharp pain that is hard to stop. By the way, some of us have been blogging at bandedtogether09.blogspot.com. If you would like to join us, just leave your email addrss and I will send you an invite. Thanks friends for being here and knowing what I am going through!

My surgery time is 10 am. It was 9am but the called and moved it out a little. We are staying the night in a hotel, because we live 2 hours away and didnt want to be leaving at 5 am because I love my sleep. It is bad enough I have to wake up 6. I usually wake up around 8ish. I started a blog page for us. But, I havent finished all of the decorative stuff yet. It is www.bandedtogether09.blogspot.com. If I get email addresses we can all submit our own blog posts to the same blog. I think it is pretty cool. I don't know what you guys think but let me know. This is a way we can all post whatever we want, whenever. I can also put links on the page so it will go right to a certain persons blogs. Let me know what you guys think. 3 more days!!!

    January 12th bandsters

Grr...I just typed a long note and it just got DELETED! So, now I am going to do a quick summary  Today I did all of my pre op appointments. I went by myself (the first one in all of this) and I started to get really anxious once I actually got to the surgeons office. I have had problems with anxiety attacks for the last couple of years so I started to get scared that I was going to have one (and I was going to be all alone). I had to pay my surgen fee today also. I thought that I had to pay my full copay amount upfront, but they said I only had to pay $400.00. No one has been able to give me a straight responce on how much I would have to pay and/or when...My max copay for the yearwith my insurance is 1500. So, that is what I was thinking I had to pay today...Not that I am complaining (AT ALL) I also went to the hospital today. I really got a good feeling there. They are all very nice and attentive. From the moment you walk in until you leave it is very comfortable. I also did my before pics today. So here they are...
