How did you all tell your family?

The first person I told was my hubby. When we had went through all of the thought process together, I then told my mom. I just out and said I was starting the process to get lap-band surgery. I had mentioned it in the past before, but more a just casual "i wish I could do that". As far as family goes that was it really. I waited until after the surgery to tell my dad. I didnt know how he would respond and I didnt want any negativity going into the surgery. From there my dad told his mom who (like grandmas do) told the rest of the family, and my mom told her family (with permission first). Everyone was very supportive. I have a pretty skinny family so I was nervous. But no negativity at all!

    LeAvE Me AlOnE!!!!!

I think that is the one that pissed me off the most when I heard it. I was like are you kidding me?!? I have been this fat our whole friendship and you are just worried about me getting smaller than you. I've dealt with it for years now...GET OVER YOURSELF! Geeze. Friends and their "supportive" ways.

    LeAvE Me AlOnE!!!!!

I am not even close to the point that people would think I have gone too far, but people are always commenting on what or how much I am eating. Like, you never said anything when I was eating an ice cream a day or desert with every meal...But, now that I eat vegis and don't snack everyone is in a fit to get me "healthy". Give ME A BREAK! This is the healthiest I have ever been!

    Bounce Back?

I'm hoping the same thing I don't want to have P.S. No babies here yet. I am a higher starting weight than you though. I have noticed my arms have quite a bit of flab already. I hope that goes away...

    So Frustrated!!!!

You are only 1 month post op. I would think that you are eating TOO much right now. What was your post op diet to consist of? When I was at the same time you are at now, I was only eating a half cup at a time, 3 times a day. If you would like to talk further feel free to ask me questions if you would like. But, my personal opinion would not to worry about calorie intake right now (some may disagree), but your body has so much stored fat right now that you will be ok for a couple of months...
  8. I pretty much agree with everyone else! If I am home, sometimes I will get a drink before I eat and then get rid of it once I start eating. If I go out, once I get my food, I push my cup all the way away from me. I also make sure that they do not refil my drink.

What did you wear on surgery day?

I wore my sweats to and from the hospital and a thirt. I went bra commando for the first full week. My top incision was right where my bra sat so I didnt want to bother it. Even the week I went back to work, I was slightly irritated in that spot when wearing my bra.

    Lapband your first surgery ever?

This was my first surgery and I was VERY scared. They knew I was really nervous so they didnt even tell me when they were putting me to sleep! When I woke up there was no question if they had done the surgery because I could feel the soreness It was weird not being able to do everything for myself. But, to be honest, it was also kind of nice. My hubby took the week off of work with me and we slept in the living room on the couches, because I couldnt sleep in my bed for whatever reason. He got everything I needed for me, made sure I was taking all my meds on time, and constantly making sure I was OK. It was a great bonding time. One week later, I was dying to get out of the house though. The second week I went back to work and took naps in the breakroom around 3 everyday because I was really tired (I walk A LOT at work). Fast forward 3 months and I feel as good as new, but better! So, all this to say...You are going to do great!

"Shrinko De Mayo" Weight Loss Challenge

    I'm down 5.2 pounds...6.8 to go!
  14. I don't get that I look fine yet. But, people are always questioning how much more I am going to lose and how that is "possible"..."you can't afford to lose THAT much". I just say, well, we will see when I get closer to that point. I don't know why people think that people constantly need their two cents. KWIM.
  15. I didnt have to de a pre liquid diet (or any diet actually) and I was onto soft foods by the time I went back to work. I also am one that told people at work. But, to be honest, even if I didnt they would've just thought I was on "another diet". I would just say I am doing slim fast for bfast and lunch and that you eat your "dinner" at home...

    Lumps and Bumps...Am I normal?!?

Yea, thats kinda what I was thinking too. I asked my hubby about them one night (and I didnt show him all of them) and he seemed concerned. At first he was like I have those, then he was like, oh maybe not...LOL I will make an appointment soon. I really dislike my Dr. He never tells me how things go...After my last pap I didnt get a phone call or anything (I also had a sonogram to test for PCOS). I thought I should at least get an ok everything is fine phone call (or doesnt that never happen with docs?). I am going to ask my best friend to feel some of them. Do you think that is ok to ask of a friend? I don't think she would be wierded out if I asked her to "touch my boob" LOL...if she knew I was serious.

    I have to confess....

I wanted to say thank you to everyone who responded to my post. It really helped a lot to read these. I realized a couple of things today... 1. I really need to track my food because I have no idea how many cal's I am getting. I know in the beginning (like weeks 4-5) I was getting about 600 cals. I don't think that I am that low any more now...But thats just the thing...I have no idea. So, I will try and track again to see if I am close to where I should be calorie wise. 2. I am not alone in this. THANKS TO YOU GUYS! I don't know anyone in real life who is banded so this board is sooo helpful! I wish I had the time to write something to everyone, but I hope you know I really appreciate you all!

    I have to confess....

Oh I hope it gets better  I was joking with my mom the other day about the reason I havent had any bread or things like that since surgery (pasta, bread, pizza, pancakes, etc.). She said "Oh honey, you can't have pancakes anymore?" and I said "Maybe, but if I gain weight at my next appointment what am I gonna say?!?...Uh...I found out I could eat bread". LOL. I can't even try those things...

    Twenties NSVs

Another one for me. I just realized that my feet are not hurting anymore. I used to hardly be able to stand at the end of the day. Now, they are just "normal"
  20. I have been having the same problem. I am 3 months out (almost). Do you have myspace? maybe we can keep each other a little more accountable... myspace.com/mrsjess

    Before Heading out!

    Yea...Ur very pretty now!
  23. My Dr. set mine to 140 pounds. The smallest I ever remeber being is 185-190 and that was my Junior year in H.S. When I started my current job 4 years ago I was at 215 and that was pretty good for me. So, my first goal is that, Second goal is 185, then down to the 140!
  24. I think part of it is mental too. I could "technically" wear the same pants that I did in my before photo. But, would they look as good as my smaller jeans?!? NOPE. I think that we get so used to seeing ourself everyday that we are just used to wearing the clothes out of habit. I have to dress "professional" at work, and there were some ladies who (as politely as they could) kept telling me everytime I should no longer be wearing certain clothes. So, give it a shot and try on some smaller stuff. I agree too, that you may not have been wearing the "right" size to begin with. So, that could be why it is taking longer also. The weight is coming off and you will notice soon enough :tongue_smilie:

    Twenties NSVs

I had a great NSV today! A client that I worked with about a year ago came in today and said "Wow, you've lost a lot of weight". Its nice that people can notice a difference too!
