Hi, you look great and I was glad to see someone who needs to loose as much as I do here. I am down 116 from Dec-07 and have 88 more to go (according to the "chart"). Keep up the good work. God bless you from Kentucky.

Need Lap Band Buddy / Mentor Mid twenties to thirties...if possible?
jules1299 replied to lingling's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Good luck Lingling. I was banded on 12/26/07 and have lost 110 lbs. so far. Still have a long way to go, but I'm feeling great. I am 34 and enjoy all types of exercise now. I am a believer in the Weight Watcher plan and have used it since surgery journaling everything I eat and exercising 6-7 days per week on most weeks. My body demands that I exercise in order to keep loosing, but I love it. I wish you all the luck. -
I now have 8 cc's in a 14cc band. Does anyone else have this much? I have been eating puree soup for 7 days now. I have never considered being too tight.

need specifics on Liver shrinking diet & Physician's weight loss center liquid diet
jules1299 replied to stacyrtl's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I had to do a 10 day clear liquid diet to srink the liver before surgery. This meant only Beef and Chicken Broth and Jello. That's it. I started Dec 15th and was on it until the 25th (2007). Had surgery day after Christmas. I am down 101.5 lbs now and am thrilled. I have another 80-100 to go. I believe exercise is the key - 5-7 days a week 45-60 minutes each workout 1-2 times per day :smile2: -
I haven't been able to eat anything else by pureed soups. Not even fruit or chili. When I was at 7.5 cc's I was able to eat a Big Mac without problem. Things were a little better yesterday, I did have some Dixie Chili with onions at home and cheese and crackers worked. It was the first bit of solid food in 7 days. I had oatmeal today and it was fine. The fourth day after being filled I had some ham and tomatoes that worked fine, then all of the sudden the next day and for the next 7 days it was aweful. Hopefully it will continue to get better. I want to be as tight as possible and I don't want to be able to eat sandwiches. I hadn't ordered McDonalds in 11 months and didn't expect it to work. I know I have the choice to make about what I try and do not try. I shouldn't have tried it in the first place.

Does 14cc band give same restriction as 10cc band?
jules1299 replied to divaofsongs's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I have the 14cc band and am filled 8cc so far. Just got the last fill on Dec 3rd. I stayed on pureed soups for 7 days and am now just starting to bring in some solids. I have lost 101.5 since May-07. My surgery was in Dec-07. I have stayed on the weight watcher plan and worked out 5-7 days per week, every week. I really believe exercise is the key. I don't know how much more fills I can do. This last one has been the hardest. I really have had to try one thing at a time again to see if it will or will not work. Good luck on your journeys. -
I had my surgery on December 26th 2007 and have lost 85 lbs. Good luck and enjoy your journey. The best advise I can give you is to journal everything you eat with the calories (or use weight watchers points) and exercise 6 days per week. Get moving, the more you move the better you will be able to move.

I agree, take it with you. Always be prepared yourself, everyone will understand.

It took me seven fills to get to the right portion control. Don't wait, get the fill now.

Hi Cutie, I had my surgery right after you on 12/26/07. I have lost 84 lbs, but please understand, I have written everything that I have ate since surgery down in a journal. I follow the weight watchers program. The lap band is a tool for me but not a quick fix. I have worked out every day (minus a few) since the middle of January. I hit a plateau and got stuck around 300. To get out of the plateau my sister and I started meeting at the local track at 4:30am. I have a four year old and she has a three and six year old. We are losing sleep to get healthy. It has been hard to do, but we walk 1 hour (3 or more miles) every day. Some days I pull double workouts. You have to work to loose the weight. Get to work, start journaling, start exercising. You can do it!

I go to the track and walk 3 miles 5-6 times a week at 4:30am. I usually do yoga once per week and work out with 10 lb weights once per week in addition to riding a stationary bike. Since I have kicked up the exercise 30 minutes longer every day and go faster I have dropped 10 lbs. in one month for a total of 84. My year anniversary from being banded will be Dec 26, 2008 and I want to make it to 100 by then.

You must get moving. Work out as much as possible every day. Don't just do 30-40 minutes 3-5 times a week, do 60-120 minutes 6-7 days per week. I had my surgery in Dec-07 and lost approx 4.3 each month (some months nothing). My sister and I started going to the track at the local high school at 4:30am every weekday morning because we have kids and I have dropped 12 lbs. over the past month for a total of 81 lbs. Right now you should have plenty of time to get out there and get it done. Also journal everything and I mean everything. Keep track of your calories and if possible get on the weight watchers points program. Good luck, you can do it!

I was banded in Dec-07 and am just now getting to where I want to be regarding fills. Everytime you get a fill you will have to readjust to eating. It's like starting over you really don't know what will and will not work. I am filled 6.5 cc's and will be getting another 9/17. The first three weeks was a big adjustment and now I am ready to be filled again. I use the gladware 2 cup containers so the measuring is done already. My meals are from 1 1/2 to 2 cups of food. It is only during the 1st week after a fill do I feel full from only 1 cup of food. So far I have dropped 76 lbs. I journal everything I eat and exercise like crazy. I was a weight watcher member for 2 years and am continuing to use the points program. I think the most important part of being banded is working with the band and using it as a tool to help stay on a good program like weight watchers. You must be aware of the calories you are getting to really know what is working and what isn't.

Need more info about eating after lap band
jules1299 commented on craftyloren's blog entry in Blog 44387
I was able to eat about 1 cup of mashed potatoes a week after the surgery. Soft foods such as this would work. Just be careful and take lots of time to eat. If you drink while eating sip, and don't drink more than 1/2 cup. Right after surgery stick to Carnation instant breakfast or protien drinks. Ziploc makes a container that is 2 cups. It is perfect for any meal. Use it and never eat more than the 2 cups. This will help you control portion sizes. Just make sure ice cream isn't one of the foods you add in it. We should never eat what people consider "normal" portions again. -
It has taken me 6 months & 6 fills to get where I want to be. I am at 6.5 cc in a 10 cc band. Right now I have to eat very very slowly. About 30-60 minutes to eat one cup of food. Just be patient. I have lost 68 lbs so far. In the past two months I haven't dropped one pound which was discuraging, but I am losing inches & my clothes are getting bigger. I am working out every day, changing things up with walking, yoga, weights, leg strenthening & biking. Don't get into a routine for months because what might be working in the beginning will eventually be what your body is expecting. Hang in there, we are all better off now then when we started.

jules1299 replied to tigerlilyhair's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I had my surgery on a Wednesday and was back to work on Monday. With the medicine you will be given the pain is minimal.
