    May Surgery Buddies

I totally get that! They’ll give you something to relax you, just focus on that (easy for me to say). My date is 6/8. I wasn’t the least bit nervous until my insurance company approved me…since then (2 weeks ago), I’m anxious and jumpy. I’ve been coming here to read good post surgery experiences…so please post yours. ❤️ I’ll be thinking of you and sending you good vibes. You are going to do great! ❤️

    April 2022 Surgery Buddies

Hi, Regina: congratulations on your progress. My surgery date is 6:8 for a bypass and hernia repair. I’m 67 years old and hbp is an issue of mine. Your comment about the fatigue, and the coffee interested me as we are close in age, and I can’t imagine myself not liking coffee. 😖 I hope your strength returns and you continue to improve.

    May 2022 surgery?

This is an excellent response. Your point is so well made, articulate and concise. One would absolutely expect that after 2+ years, a better system was in place. Thank you for saying this.

    June Surgeries

I just got my surgery date and I am June 8 as well! My pre-op testing has been done for weeks…I have to have a negative COVID test when I check in on 6/8. I’m having RNY, a massive hiatal hernia repair (surgeon’s words not mine), and my gallbladder removed. I’ve been doing the liver reduction in earnest for a week, I have lost 10 lbs and I will stay on it till surgery. Good luck to you! 6/8 will be here in no time at all. 🤗

Merill: breathe! Calm yourself. None of that is going to happen to you. Unfortunately it happened to Stacey, but it isn’t going to happen to you. Positive thoughts about a fabulous outcome! You got this! ❤️

    May Surgery Buddies

You are so welcome! The first time I had surgery (a c-section 42 yrs ago) I was ASTONISHED at how I felt afterwards…and I was young, active and barely weighed 120 lbs, and I felt like I had been hit repeatedly by a bus or train. All these years later, total of 4 c-sections, and I’m cautiously optimistic that at the very least, I ‘sort of’ know what is ahead of me post-surgery. That being said, who knows? My surgeon says that if I can handle 4 sections, I can do this blindfolded. As long as you aren’t blindfolded, 🤣, I responded to him. Walk until you need to rest, then rest, then walk again. ❤️ I’ll be looking for your updates. 😊

    June 2022 surgery buddies

Hi to you and the other June buddies! I will find out my surgery date on Monday when I meet with my surgeon…I’m hoping for a date between June 8 and June 13. My pre-procedure testing was extensive and has been finished for about 3 weeks. Cigna approved me this week. I’m having gastric bypass and hiatal hernia repair. I’m 5’2”, and right now I’m 213lbs. I started the liquid pre-op diet in earnest last Tuesday (the surgery coordinator said that of their patients like to start it early 🤷🏻‍♀️). I’m glad I started early because I have switched it up twice now and it has made it easy. When I meet with the surgeon on Monday, I’ll find out the ‘protocol’ pre-surgery diet, and go from there. Good luck to everyone AND May surgeries, please keep posting! Your stories are wonderfully encouraging and informative.

    Sometimes the truth hurts

I was going to respond yesterday, I didn’t, I’m doing it now. 🤷🏻‍♀️ I did not find the post that was singled out as being ‘not helpful’ as not helpful. 🤷🏻‍♀️ I, however, lean towards being forthright and dare I say, blunt. That being said, I did not find (was it Tony’s post?) (I’m new here and truly don’t know anyone) blunt, not helpful, or out of line in anyway. In fact, as I was reading it (and I did read the entire thread), I decided that I didn’t have to comment because ‘that’ comment echoed pretty much I thought. 🤷🏻‍♀️ I began this entire journey 5 months ago with research into procedure the OP had undergone…Gastroplasty. I had the zoom interview with the Surgery Coordinator and I was asked how much weight I wanted to lose; I replied that I wanted to use 75-100 lbs,and the SC replied that I would not be able to lose that amount of weight via Gastroplasty. Game Over. I went into all that above to say that my initial reaction to the original post in question was that perhaps the Gastroplasty end results had not been accurately represented to the OP. That’s all…wishing you all a restful weekend. I finally meet with my surgeon on Monday and I will get a surgery date. 🎉🎉🎉

Fingers crossed for you, Merill. I hope the numbers stay low or go away altogether and you get the procedure. You made me laugh 😂🤣😂🤣…I go to the beach for two hours and I bring the same amount of stuff as if I was going for a week. My stuff is my stuff. Keep me posted!

Hydration and vitamin bar ? 🤔

What you said as well. I would not anticipate difficulty getting my surgeon to order an IV for me post surgery to provide hydration support. HOWEVER, in some cases, these walk in places might be someone’s best option for a number of reasons.

Hydration and vitamin bar ? 🤔

My endocrinologist‘a office does those, and I brought home the flyer when I was there last week for BHRT pellets. I’m going to ask my surgeon about them on Monday. I was thinking the same as you…getting an IV in case I need support post-surgery. I’m hoping surgery will be 6/8-ish.

I completely agree. Between my skin care regimen and my make-up, i'll probably only leave the false eyelashes at home. I bring extra clean undies for a day trip just about anywhere. Seriously.
