A friend of mine had surgery done in mid-october. To date, she has lost 90 lbs, and she is at her goal weight. She told me that even when she was in a stall and loss of pounds was not showing on the scale, she was losing inches. It's a process. Congratulations and keep up the good work! I hope this helps.

Best wishes and positive thoughts to everyone whose surgery is today and this week! Congratulations for sticking with it through the tests, appointments, waiting, etc. 🎉 I HAVE TWO MORE ‘SLEEPS’ 🎉🎉TIL MY WEDNESDAY SURGERY🎉 Continued best wishes and healing thoughts to those who are recovering. I did a lot of retail therapy yesterday to keep myself occupied. I even started a re-styling project for a favorite piece of furniture. DH even got onboard with it because, well, he ‘just’ knew that it would be best if he did. 😂 LOL I had the tiniest morsel of birthday cake at a birthday we celebrated after dinner yesterday. Today and tomorrow I’m at school, this afternoon is my COVID test. I’m keeping busy till Wednesday the best I can. Thank you to everyone here who provided the most useful diversion and information while I trudged toward approval and surgery! -

Congrats! I’ve been completely compliant on the week today on the 5 shakes a day/one snack pre-surgery diet. Surgery is Wednesday the 8th. I’ve dropped 14 lbs in 2 weeks but I know that would come to a screeching halt without surgery…because it always does. Covid test today. -

I’m hoping to ditch both as well. My doctor said the Lisinopril will probably get the heave ho almost immediately. -

Anyone's Surgeon Use: Enhanced Recovery after Bariatric Surgery (ERAS Bariatric)?
Mariann812 replied to Mariann812's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Thank you! My hospital has that same designation, and I had wondered if the ‘Center of Excellence’ notation and the ERAS protocol went hand in hand. Thanks again. -
Hi all: I’m hanging out in June SB because I am hoping against hope that my surgery date is mid June. My Results visit is 5/16 and I hope to get the date at that visit. Cigna has had my insurance packet for 1 week. Doctor’s office says they take 2 weeks to study it. I began the liver shrinking diet on Tuesday, 5/3 (per doctors office) and I’m down 6 lbs which is nothing short of a miracle for me. A typical eating plan in a day is 2 Atkins Plus shakes, 1 or 2 Oikos yogurts, an Aldi Shrimp meal (140 calories), 64oz water and sugar free ice pops. I WAS hungry on Day 4-yesterday- but I dropped 2 lbs overnight which explains that. I’m using vitamin patches because they are easy and convenient. My nutritionist said they are not effective but drinking all that water makes the thought of swallowing pills impossible. I get blood drawn in one month and any positive change in my levels means the patches are okay. We’ll see. Good luck to all…I am having RNY LAP with hiatal hernia repair. Oh, yeah, endoscopy scheduled tentatively for 5/20. Keep your surgery and recovery stories coming. I learn so much from them.

yup, they are strict. I had grown to like the Atkins shake - all the same stuff, yadda, yadda, yadda - but only premier or BP pre-op. Fortunately, i found that I love (this week) Premier Peanut Butter/Chocolate. -

my feelings exactly. Strep has been going through our school like wildfire. I can take common sense measures, but essentially, it is out of my control. -

Premier Root Beer float.....mine is being delivered tomorrow. I will try anything at this point because my surgeon's practice only allows Premier or Bariatric Pal pre-surgery. -
Anyone denied AND they meet ALL criteria/co-morbidities
Mariann812 posted a topic in Insurance & Financing
My packet will be submitted to CIGNA next week. I have Open Access Plan, and my surgeon’s practice is a Cigna Center For Excellence. Has anyone been denied despite meeting every criteria/co-morbidities articulated by the insurer? Just curious. Thanks.- 17 replies

CIGNA approved me. i met the criteria but i think they approved me because the hiatal hernia that has to be repaired is 'massive' to use my surgeon's words. The recommended repair procedure for a hernia this size IS gastric bypass. My gallbladder will be removed as well. I was careful to keep my BMI right at 40. My surgeon had a sleep study done, and I now have a CPAP machine for sleep apnea. coupled with high blood pressure, cholesterol, I guess I sailed through approval. However, the hernia is causing shortness of breath. Half of my stomach is in my chest and it is pressing on my heart and esophagus. It probably begin 21 years ago when I was pg with twins. -

Me too! My surgery is wednesday. Covid test is Monday after school. I am dreading that more than anything else. Our covid numbers increased here in school about a month ago. I began wearing a mask again...my classroom is always scrupulously clean. Fingers crossed. good luck to you! -

Hi, Summer: What time on Wednesday? Right now I'm scheduled for noon but that is subject to change. I know I take it Tuesday night at my regular time - I take it at 9pm-ish. Wednesday night i'll be overnight in the hospital so I will ask them how they want me to take it. -

I take Metropolol. All I know is that my surgeon told me that my dosages (I take Lisinopril/hydrochlorathiazide as well) will be adjusted on an ongoing basis. He also said that he will probably stop the L/H combo and switch to something that is not a diuretic. My surgery is 6/8 - next wednesday - -

Liver shrinking DIET pre-RNY
Mariann812 replied to Mariann812's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I am going to give the vitamin patches a 👍. I bought them from the store at this website. I actually wear 2 of each that I bought...double the dose. I do this because my nutritionist told me they were not effective. 🤷♀️ Of course when someone tells me something is ineffective, it stands to reason that I buy them and use twice as many as directed. When I upped to two patches/day of each pack that I bought (iron; Omega 3s; B-complex; Biotin for hair, skin and nails; multi-vitamins; and D3 with calcium;), I did feel a difference when I was consistently using them every day for about a month. And, I know that's 12 patches which does take some time in the morning, but I am giving them a thumbs up! -

Months ago, my surgeon ordered 18 different blood labs, an H Pylori test, barium swallow, chest X-ray, abdominal u/s, EKG, Stress test with echo cardio gram. Oh, and urine specimen. Yesterday at pre-anesthesia testing I had blood type and Rh screen and antibody screen, and blood drawn for potassium and sodium levels. My surgery is next Wednesday, June 8. If you want, I can list the specific labs. -

Thank you🤗. I saw that Walmart has root beer float. I’m going to order it. I’m not trying to stop the coffee urge, but coffee ice cream is my favorite flavor so I just like that flavor. -

June surgeries? Tell me your preparations
Mariann812 replied to Songbyrd420's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I’m doing everything my surgeon’s practice told me to, AND I’m being nice to me. 😊 I have a post about ‘that’ in the June surgery topic. Yesterday I was online shopping and I bought a gorgeous $$$sweater for me that hopefully will fit by the holidays. It was marked down from its prohibitive cost so I grabbed it in the only size they had. It’s a size 10 and I think that in 6 months, if not sooner, I’ll be able to wear it. And gorgeous black velvet ballet slippers. I bought skin care products (which are my weakness). At home and at school, if anyone around me starts to sound contentious with another person, I leave immediately. I don’t want to be around the stress or tension. My husband is ALWAYS talking about food and what he has prepared for dinner. He may not do that around me. He knows that he does this and he understands why he can’t do it now. I am truly being somewhat introspective, selfish and self-protective. My husband is always that way to me…very protective. I am never that way to myself, but I am being that way now. With the two of us being that way about me, I’m doing my best to be calm, positive, and focused. Trust me, if I lose my 💩, it’s not going to be pretty. 😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣 Good luck with your surgery.😊
