    Awful smelling stool and gas

⬆️ THIS! Congratulations on how great you are doing! And until your family starts farting and pooping rainbows, stars, rose petals and pink marshmallows, I’d tell them to take a hike! Seriously! Wear a mask and clean your toilet to within an inch of its life…scrub everywhere. Once it’s clean and you are taking preventive measures to ameliorate odors, enjoy the success you are having with your health and weight.

    April 2022 Surgery Buddies

Absolutely keep me posted. Everyone seems to have their own little glitch in this process. I’m looking forward to your update on Tuesday-ish. Who knows? At this rate we may be going at the same time. It’s anybody’s guess. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Alcohol 3 weeks post sleeve op.

Honestly? Go to the wedding, trust your own instincts coupled with your doctor’s instructions, and have a fabulous time. Take it one step at a time…be comfortable with what you are doing!

    April 2022 Surgery Buddies

I’m do for the same…hiatal hernia repair and gastric bypass…not in 9 days, though. 🙂 At least I don’t think so. 🤷🏻‍♀️ I might jump at the chance to get the surgery out of the way soon, though, if given the opportunity. It all depends on my schedule at school. We’ll see. Right now I’m thinking June 10-ish…last day of school. I’ll be watching for your updates, Merill. Keep posting.

    April 2022 Surgery Buddies

I’m so glad you are feeling better. I’m following your posts, so keep them coming. I’m hoping that I’ll have a May or June surgery date. My insurance packet gets submitted Thursday when my CPAP machine is picked up. I’ll be looking for your drink reviews…I’m ok with the sweet Premier clear…reminds me of Kool Aid. 🤷🏻‍♀️And I’ve stocked up on Fairlife shakes. It’s helpful to see how everyone copes with the nausea etc post-op. Thank you again.

Perfectly understandable. I went through the same emotions years ago. I was walking 10 miles a day, counting calories and I had this irrational fear that the number on the scale would go down, I would lose the weight, BUT I would look exactly the same. 🤔 I think it’s something that many of us think about.
  7. She tells me that her doctors at Duke have tried everything that there is to try, I don’t know what type she has, but she did mention a year ago that her doctors had exhausted all options. you keep fighting the good fight. ❤️

    April 2022 Surgery Buddies

I’m so sorry you are so tired, but it’s perfectly normal. Your body burns 2500 calories a day just healing from surgery, coupled with the calorie deficit, of course you are at an energy deficit. You will turn the corner soon, listen to your body and give yourself the rest you need. please keep posting…thank you.
  9. Thank you. I feel much better having read that. You apparently, like me, have excellent coverage through Cigna. Whenever I speak with them, they invariably say: ‘your husband has an excellent plan.’ They have covered my pre-procedure tests and those were $$$. thanks again and good luck to you. My cousin has MS, but she has been given every med available with no good result. 😢
  10. No. It’s not through the marketplace.

You have infinite patience imho. I’m trying to remain positive, and so far so good. My surgeon’s admin is waiting on one document…the CPAP machine receipt when I pick it up next week…and my packet is ready to be submitted. today I had a visit with my PCP to begin ‘documentation of weight Loss failure.’ I figure if I’m looking at mid June for surgery, I can use this time to jump through the only Cigna hoop that remains unaddressed. 🤷🏻‍♀️

    June 2022 surgery buddies

I am probably going to be a June surgery…obviously 🙄 my preferred date of 4/11 wasn’t to be. The last day of school is June 10-ish and I’m ready to go that day. My paper work won’t be sent to Cigna for about another week. I’m leaning towards gastric bypass and I’m meeting with my surgeon next week to discuss what he thinks. I’m looking forward to reading about everyone’s experience.

    Post Op Stomach Injections

I had to do heparin injections during 2 pregnancies. Icing the injection site before and after the injection helped a lot with bruising and discomfort. Hope this helps.

    Congratulations! You’ll do great!
  16. Thank you. Your reply is quite helpful. Because of the possibility of GERD with the sleeve, I am leaning towards the bypass. I will ask my surgeon about the procedure you mentioned. thanks again!

    April 2022 Surgery Buddies

Congratulations! 🎉🎈🎊 That will be here in a flash! Best of luck!
  18. That makes sense…most seem to get repaired and the sleeve is done at the same surgery. thank you. I am beginning to see that the sleeve vs gb is likely a matter of preference although, my surgeon did mention the chance of heartburn with a sleeve. I’ll have to go do some research to make sure I heard that correctly.

    April 2022 Surgery Buddies

Ugh! I hate that people are rude and unkind. 😢 I’m a Special Ed teacher and sadly the unkindness never ceases to amaze me. 😢 Good for you, though, having a plan to get out there. I’ve used YouTube for walking videos…I think the woman’s name was Leslie Sansone. If I couldn’t get out, she could get me moving. People on here have mentioned online videos that they like. I stumbled on those doing a search for ‘tracking steps.’

    April 2022 Surgery Buddies

Thank you for posting this. My surgeon has told me that having had 4 c-sections (the 4th a set of twins), THIS will be a ‘walk in the park.’ i completely agree with you: there are things that there are never a right time to do…getting married, having kids, buying a car, surgery, etc. thank you again!
