    May 2022 surgery?

Congrats on your 5/2 date. I'll be here at my desk -- I'll say a prayer for you for uneventful, successful surgery, and a quick recovery.💐

    June 2022 surgery buddies

Hi, Emily: My pre-procedure experience sounds similar to yours. I, however, had to do an echocardiogram stress test and I had to wait 2 weeks for an appointment for that. I did an at-home sleep study, and then somehow something ran off the rails. A CPAP machine was supposed to be ordered for me and a couple of weeks elapsed before that slip-up was discovered. My surgeon's admin told me on Tuesday that Cigna takes about 2 weeks to go through an insurance submission. Apparently, the practice I am using has an Insurance Coordinator who goes through everything in my file to be certain that CIGNA gets every piece of paper required. I'm just waiting now. Good luck to you.

    June 2022 surgery buddies

I don't have a surgery date yet. I have a Results visit on 5/16 and I hope to get a date then. I had extensive pre-procedure testing that I completed as rapidly as i could, but still, I started this process on 2/22/22 and I will be thrilled to get a 6/13 surgery date. School lets out 6/10. I was skeptical when I read that this process could take a few months, but clearly it has taken awhile in my case.

THAT is an excellent idea, and I am going to steal it! Thank you for sharing.💐
  6. Hi, all: I started out on the April surgery buddies board. However, my Results visit with my surgeon is Monday, May 16, and I am looking for a surgery date of 6/13. School will be out, and I won't have to stress about recovering. I'm particularly interested in reading surgery and recovery experiences. I've amassed a large amount of useful information in the short amount of time I have been here. My surgeon's admin told me yesterday that many of his patients choose to start the liver shrinking diet 2 weeks prior to their Results visit which is about a week away. That would put me on liver shrinking eating plan for about 6 weeks which doesn't really interest me, and my nutritionist said that might be difficult to sustain. I agree. I may try something rather modified until the 5/16 visit, and follow my doctor's instructions regarding a liquid diet and a time frame for that. Good luck to everyone here. PS: FTR, my protein shake of choice is FairLife chocolate, and I do like the Gatorade Zero Protein Drinks.
  7. Thank you for the extremely helpful ideas…pickle salad recipe please? And, believe it or not, I love egg white omelettes so I’m good with those. I’m thinking low calorie with free foods for 2 weeks or more. When I know my surgery date, then I can do 2 weeks strict liver shrinking. Please share any hints you have. And thanks again.

    Update On Me (Surgery: 5/19/21)

YAY for you! You made me smile! WAY TO GO!!!
  11. My file is complete per my surgeon’s admin. I’m going to start the CPAP tonight or tomorrow night. The admin will call Monday to set up my ‘Results’ appointment with the surgeon, and my paperwork will go to CIGNA on Monday. Now I wait. I’m so tempted to book a date in May and only give myself 5 days till I’m back at school. HOWEVER, I will most likely choose to do the more prudent thing, and have surgery June 9th or 10th-ish when school is out. Yes, I am enjoying a food bucket list until I start the pre-op diet. My BMI is 40.9 and I’m hell bent on keeping it there till Cigna says yes. I’d love to hear from the April Surgery Buddies regarding your immediate post-op recovery. I guess that this week (fingers crossed) I will be able to join the June Surgery Buddies Group. FWIW, I began this journey on 1/15 with research into WLS. My zoom call with the surgeon’s office was 2/22. The pre-procedure testing (extensive) began in March. I started out thinking sleeve, but I have opted for bypass. I have a large hiatal hernia that will be repaired during surgery.
  12. Good luck! You must be so excited!!!!!
  13. You are SO right…I just can’t wait to get this show on the road I guess. It will have to wait till school is out, though. We have only one day off in May, and that’s not enough. EOG’s are last week in May and they don’t end till June 8. I’m definitely looking at dates after that. I know you’re right…I’d be so stressed that I wouldn’t be able to get back to school immediately that it’s best I wait.
  14. Thank you! You are going in like less than 3 days! Best best wishes! I’m concerned about the potential for nausea. I can stand pretty much anything except being nauseous. 🤦🏻‍♀️ Good luck and I’ll be looking for you to give an update!

    Post Op Stomach Injections

I've done the injections when I've been pregnant. I found it an absolute necessity to ice the area first. That seemed to help with the bruising.

    April 2022 Surgery Buddies

Welcome and congrats on the surgery date. My concerns are the same as yours: nausea and possible delay regarding work. Everything I've read supports remaining hydrated to ward off nausea. As far as work, i'm going to wait till the last day of school, 6/10, and ask for a surgery date around that time. My insurance packet will be complete and ready to submit tomorrow. My practice also does a 2 week full liquid diet prior to surgery. Good luck and welcome!

    April 2022 Surgery Buddies

ALL: Lots of posts to read today…sending encouragement, healing wishes and motivation to everyone wherever you are in this journey. I’m going to be a June surgery I think. My packet goes to the insurance company this Friday and there are not any days off from school except for memorial day weekend until June 13…last day of school for kids is June 10. My fingers are crossed for June 13-ish. I am eagerly reading everyone’s input on the liquid phase pre-surgery (I think mine is 2 weeks long), your immediate post-op comments, and everything else. Your experience and perspective is extremely helpful. I’m particularly interested in comments regarding recovery from hernia repair/ RNYgb. Keep up the good work! Thanks in advance.
