March 2022 Surgery Buddies

It does. I find that I could just spend my day filled up on water and no real food if I didn't force myself to eat on time. -

Shouldn't take long. Your dietician may have similar suggestions but I'd call to make sure. Crunching ice helped me too. -

Using a measuring cup helped. The dietician said I needed to drink 2 - 3oz every 15 min. It seemed impossible with little sips. But I found that bigger sips helped get my water intake in in the time frame she suggested. -

You will be able to swallow more when you learn the ques your stomach gives you on fullness. I'm able to drink more now than I could before, it just took time. -

I found that a body shaper helped me hold everything together too. A tight one. It felt like everything was loose before and every move hurt. But with the shaper on, it had the compression which helped with the swelling and the pain. -

I'm on week 5 and I still have pain in one of the spots my surgeon cut. It gets better with stretching. 😊 -

I'm on week 5 foods, soft or cooked fruits. I've been slowly adding things and listening to my body. I had my post op last week and my Dr cleared me for normal life. I'm down nearly 60 pounds from the start of the program, only 20 since surgery. Next week is breads and I really have no desire to eat them. I crave cucumbers, almond butter, and chicken wings. I have trouble stomaching my vitamins, they make me super sick. Most difficult has been getting used to not being able to drink for 30 min after eating. Most delightful has been seeing the difference in my mentality, I'm not feeling so down and sad anymore, I feel like I have something to look forward to every day. Every week is a new food group and every day is a new food, some of which I liked before and hate now, some I hated before and love now. I'm slowly getting more energy again and it makes me feel happy. -

I did. March 9th. I'm on day 15 and I can finally have soft meats. It has been a struggle for me up to this point. Mentally draining and feeling weak. Plus, my daughter brought home a stomach bug last week 😅. Today was the first day I felt good enough to put on a dress and go out in the sun. -
I'm on week 3 after the sleeve and I've stopped too it feels like. But I'm positive that things will get better as time goes on.

I had 5 days preop of chicken broth. It was horrible. I had no energy and I was grumpy too. You can do this, it's hard but you're stronger! -

After some struggle with my insurance, I finally got to have my surgery March 9th. I get to move up to low fat, low sugar yogurt, jello, and pudding today. I've struggled with water intake, I'm worried I'll drink too much and rupture my healing line. Today I drank 12 Oz over an hour and I didn't feel any discomfort or anything, but the reading of others experiences makes me nervous.
