Hi Baby fever you are on day 8 My Doctor told me WEEKS TWO AND THREE (8-22). At this time, you may Begin adding soft, moist, SOLD food, like Cottage cheese String Cheese eggs any style Tofu Low fat yogurt Refried Beans Deli chicken or Turkey Baked Fish Tuna with fat-free mayo How much he said 1-2 oz I am at day 23 have talked with the Doctors about hunger and am now at 3 oz of food per meal with no fill in the band When eating Protein at all meals if you have room OK to add well cooked vegetables like green beans, carrots, mushrooms, beets, (broccoli, cauliflower but tips only),canned/cooked, peeled tomatoes. Canned fruit (unsweetened) Take Protein drinks between meals the most impotent thing right now for us is not to stretch the new pouch and let the stomach heal 4 to 5 weeks. Now is the time for WILL POWER OVER FOOD. Good Luck

Days 1-3 clear liquids,.Days 4-7 add v-8 juice skim milk,Decaf coffee. Days 8-22 add Cottage Cheese, string cheese, Eggs,Tofu,Refried beans,Turkey deli type,Baked fish. Days 23 up add one food at a time so you don't get sick. Sample Meal Day 9 Breakfast 1/4 c cottage cheese, Lunch 1 oz string cheese, Dinner 2 oz deli turkey. Would think we all have the same guidelines Do not overfill your new pouch or stomach structure, or If you vomit call your Surgeon immediately. Ether of these could cause band slippage. Easy does it is our motto for now, takes about 5 weeks for things to heal.

To much protien a to little protien???
Old Goat replied to NEWME2008's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I would think you could have Decaf coffee try mixing 4oz with your protein, not great but helps. I was able to have skim milk on the 4th day that sure gives the protein a boost. 4oz skim milk one scoop protein. You might call around to see if you can find a protein suppler that will let you sample? Try to find one you like. Sure not sure were else to get your protein from but the drink. -
Eleventh day Post op getting better every day. Pulled something in my stomach last Thursday walking in a park. Took Sunday off seams to be ok now. Went to have my staples removed Wednesday every thing just great. Found out why I cant turn over on my right side, seams the problem came from My Glad bladder removal operation years ago, something grows back that had to be cut to lift the liver. Now off all my Diabetes Medications, my Blood Sugar readings are running around 102 MG/DL 6 years on these Meds gone forever. :rolleyes2:Next to go Blood Pressure Meds My readings were like 148/87 and have dropped to readings like 118/72 or lower. I am finding them lower when I walk than when I don’t. I lost 10 lbs this past week. I chalk it up to all my clean living.

Looking for Old Goat Buddies just Banded or in the Process. To share are current struggle with the bulge and hopefully make it work for all of us this time. My definition of an Old Goat is a Male of Retirement age or Older just like ME in pursuit of a heather Body that’s able to wear much smaller clothes. Now about me - 70 years old, 6 foot tall since 16 till I got checked for my BMI they tell me I am only 5’ 11-3/4” BMI 42.2 WGT 309 Top WGT 333 Charts say should be under 170 Wow 190 would sure be nice. Live in Kansas City and working with The Bariatric Center of Kansas City and DR Hoehn For me the thought of possible eliminating My Diabetes, High Blood Pressure, Sleep Apnea, and Reflux. Or at least reducing the Medication would in itself make the Lap Band worth it and Weight Loss well nothing is required to be said for us. As for the Ladies think you are great have three Daughters and a loving Wife for 44 years would just like to try to make this trip with Old Goats First. But if I have to work with Women younger than my Daughters to get err done than that’s what I will do. I will also post this in the Men’s Room if you would like to Buddy with me. -

To much protien a to little protien???
Old Goat replied to NEWME2008's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hi guys: My hat is off to those of you that were on the God Offal protein drinks before the operation 14 days. But be very careful about adding food back to soon. Review the LAP-BAND System Information for Patients book PP 10 it is on line if you were not given one. How important, especially in the early weeks, not to stretch the small stomach pouch above the band. Each week is the most important of our band life. Our stomach must be given time to heal a few more puck drinks may well be worth it in the long run. -
Hi here is a little more information I found on the soft stop subject in another book. "Watch for your "soft stop". It's an involuntary sign your body is giving you to stop eating. It is the next bite in which food may get stuck or vomiting may occur. The sign might be a sigh, a runny nose, a hiccup, sneeze or watering eyes". I am probable not far enough along to be looking or this one yet. Could be those of us banded in the 1st part of the month will be finding it soon.

OK have a question on how to eat. This is what my group says on HOW TO EAT Drink Protein supplements to reach 60-70 gm total protein daily (food eaton and protein supplement combined). It may take you several weeks to reach this goal. (Heck I got to this one in 4 days) Eat until comfortable - NOT FULL Watch for the soft stop. Introduce foods one at a time. Now my question is has anyone experienced a soft stop and if so what was it like for you?

Xtightend wish you the best of luck today. I am 6 days post and looking back on the 3 days right after surgery just did not realize how tired I really was at the time. Day one in the hospital as I did not leave till 3:45 my walking was in the halls, and putting up with all those great nurses messing with me. They also told me at the Hospital it would be best to keep ahead of pain so for the 1st 2 days I did take the prescribed liquid pain medication. Day two went to the mall and walked for 30 minuets and took a couple of naps, 48oz of Water, 8oz of dc coffee and a couple 23gm of Protein drinks man those things are just crap. Day 3 was my worst day I did Mall walk for an hour got my water, coffee, crapping protein in but at about two PM these last three days caught up with me. I was just exhausted from lack of sleep, cold, shacking, sweating, that lack of food awful feeling. O well day 4 was great and now on the road again. Dropping weight like a rock see the Doctor Wednesday will find out how much Hi Dave: You are 11 days before me how are things going with you? Any advice or questions you would have for us. -

My group wants me to eat 60–70mg of Protein per day for Life. Now having said that at 10 days out you are probable on mushies or some solid foods. Once I get to 35mg of food I am to stop one protein drink and at 70gm of protein stop the last protein drink. My drinks are only to be between meals when I start food. No more than 30mg of Protein at one time. -
Fifth day post op and looking back on the first 3 days post op. Did not realize how bad Surgery beat me up, My belly is black and blue from my 6 new holes, one belly button hernia repaired, my port in the center just below the breast bone, one just to my right of it about 2 inches, and the others are all on my left side. I find something really strange from the 1st night the most comfortable position to sleep was on my left side pillow at back right on all those holes. Not even able to turn on my right side even today it’s like the doctor used my right side as a punching bag during Surgery. Sure don’t think much of this liquid diet; yes I know its required but what the heck think I’ve lost 9 lbs since Surgery wont says for sure till Wednesday staple removal day and Doctors scales.

My Surgery was Wednesday went great. No gas or shoulder pain just a little tooting that helps to move me along in my Mall walking. On the liquids letting the belly heal for the road to a healthier and skinny self.

I am now officially a member of the Band of Brothers. Happy to report that the Surgery could not have went much better for me. Was up and walking in my room 4 hours after. I chose to spend the night in the hospital that was a good thing as I had a little bleeding from my port sight, went through 4 Hospital gowns be for we got that under control. My Doctor repaired a small Belly Button Hernia while inside of me. Think I got my 2.1 Mi walk in that night as I had some phlegm in my throat could not sleep or stay in bed so me the Tree with the IV Bag, Pain Drip Med headed out to the Halls. I am now at home with no shoulder pain no gas pain starting to get some Belly Bruising a little pain getting in and out of bed but for the most of it filling great, been to the Mall walking today only walked for 30 Minutes around a Mi. Staying on the liquids letting my new pouch heal. -
Hi Guys Feeling pretty good about things right now. Went to see the Shrink today stepped on his scales lost another 4 lbs (that brings me to 285). He likes to see his patients loose 3% body weight or more be for surgery and I have lost 8% that I have done my part to get ready. Tomorrow I will just be another guy with the Band working on getting Healthy and Skinny. See you on the other side
