I got my second fill yesterday. The doctor added one cc to my 4 I already have. The procedure was just like my first fill. Over quickly. I'm down to 215. I'd love to be under 200 by January.

How much have you lost July Butterfllies??
Lavetta replied to lotzasunshine's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I gained 2 pounds over the Thanksgiving holiday so I'm going to try to work that off this week. -
Well I went to the Dr last week and he told me I didnt need my next fill yet. I've lost 19 pounds in two months and he was pleased with the difference. He said to keep going with what I have for another month or possibly even two. I went ahead and stayed on my liquid diet for the rest of the day, mainly just to give myself a jump start for the next two months and partially since I'd already psyched myself out for it all day. :mad2: I'm down to 220! Hard to believe that a year ago I was abut 270.

By all means follow your doctors orders, and definitely ask. I myself have been able to eat popcorn in small amounts, chewing it very well, without any problems.

I went in this morning and had my first fill. 4cc's. I wasnt sure if Dr. Longoria was going to do an adjustment or not. I was a bit nervous. I've been feeling a bit hungry between meals so I knew I was ready for a fill. I had to lie back on the examining table and lift my feet. (to tighten my abs) There was a pinch...just like getting any shot. He pulled the air out of the band first then filled it with the liquid. That was all. I drank a large glass of water to show that I was able to get liquids through. Then I was free to go. I'll be on liquids today and soft mushies tomorrow morning. I go back in 2 months.

Has anyone had issues swallowing fish oil capsules? The Dr wants me to take 4k mg. each day and I'm afraid of those huge pills.

I also have an 11cc band. How did your fill go?

I too would recommend the daily plate site. You can track your food and exercise there. It helps me keep track and see what I'm really doing. Try it for a few weeks and see if you notice a difference. I want to encourage you to keep trying. I know its not easy but I've seen from this site that it can work. An area where I struggle is drinking enough Water. I've noticed that in weeks when I dont drink enough water I lose less weight. Maybe that's just me though. :smile2: I've gotten into the habit of carring a glass around the house with me throughout the day so that helps. But I was thinking that since you've been vomiting so much you may be a bit dehydrated too. Good Luck -
I took 2 last night with dinner and had no problems. Yay!!! I figure if I have 2 with Breakfast when I take my other migraine medications and 2 with dinner I will get the 4,000 mg the Dr wants me to have without having issues. Thanks!

This is for my neurologist not my lap band Dr. Sorry I didnt clarify. I have migraines daily and he says it will help.

Well I havent been on this site as much lately but I thought I'd post an update. I had my first fill a few weeks ago and I'm feeling great. I'm eating pretty much whatever I want but making good choices. Sticking with high protiens when I can. Fresh veggies and fruits over canned or frozen when possible, that sort of thing. I use a website called TheDailyPlate to track my meals. I've lost a total of 26 pounds so far. I'm feeling full on about 3/4ths of a cup of food. My challenges are still drinking enough water each day (I'm taking in about 32 to 36oz these days) and remembering to take small bites. Remembering to chew everything to a pulp is easy, if you dont you feel it immediately. I've had a few incidents when I've forgotten and felt it. It was scary for a second but i just calmed down and soon it passed. I'm exercising regularly. I ride our recumbent bike on even days and do weight training on the odd days. I'm using Nivea Firming cream on my skin and havent noticed too much loose skin yet, but I havent lost too much so I'm still keeping my fingers crossed. I'm sure increasing my water intake will be the biggest help there. I still have the migraines almost daily but the high blood pressure is just about gone. I've stopped taking daily medication for it. My brother told me this past weekend that he spoke to his doctor last week and he's going to have this procedure done as well. Good Luck to everyone who's reading this. I hope this information helps and encourages you.

6 days post banding and STARVING - Is this normal?
Lavetta replied to NerdyGirl's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I think one thing that helped me was being able to chew a multivitamin within a day or two. Ask you doctor about that though because doctors have different opinions about taking vitamins right away. -
I had my first follow up visit with the surgeon today. It went great. He was really happy with the 20 lbs I've lost since I first came in and with the progress I've made in my recovery since surgery. My incision sites looked great so he went ahead and removed the steri strips from them. He also gave me permission to start on soft foods. Yay! I wanted to sing! Scrambled eggs and cottage cheese here I come. I still need to work on drinking more water. I'm only getting in about 30 to 40 oz a day and I need to really get that up to 64 or more. Thats playing a part in my nausea. I go back in 3 weeks. I came straight home and made a scrambled egg. LOL :frown:

My post op diet, is it enough?
Lavetta replied to ShrinkyDink's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm 13 days post op and just started soft foods today. My doctor had me on clear liquids for 2 days, then two weeks on liquids. Yours sounds fairly normal to me. -
Today started with a Migraine. Unfortunately my daughter had a few doctors appointments that I had to take her to so I wasnt able to shove my head under the covers. I had a small yogurt drink that didnt sit to well on my stomach. I also started having some allergy issues today too. I've been coughing and sneezing. Maybe the two are related? I felt a little feverish earler but checked my temp a few times and it was fine. We finally made it home and I just slumped on the sofa. I felt so sick all over. I just did too much I think. I take my hat off to those of you who are able to return to a full days work within a few days after this surgery. I couldnt have done it if I were working right now. I was so worn out from 2 doctor visits and a short walk through the mall with my daughter. I feel better now that I've had a chance to curl up in bed for a bit. I've had a glass of water too. I'm hoping a good nights sleep will get me back on track.

Congratulations! I can tell how excited you are. I've been banded 11 days now and I can tell you its a life changing experience. Are you on a pre op diet?

Its been 11 days for me and I'm sooo looking forward to mushies too. :frown:
