Feeling depressed/hopeless on liquid diet
joanie pony replied to Vivis's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
i have digestive issues with dairy. the regular protein shakes give me cramps & diarrhea. Muscle Milk protein shakes (non-dairy) and Fairlife protein shakes (lactose-free) are good and give me no digestive problems. Hope you are having a better day! -
i had to cut gluten out of my diet several years ago. i've haven't been truly tempted, and never cheat. I also have diverticulitis and do not eat nuts & popcorn. All of this cold turkey. No pop, no caffeine either. I'm good with all of it. However, ice cream calls my name. Screams it, in fact. That is a struggle for sure.

Tips & tricks for the pre-op ALL LIQUID DIET!
joanie pony replied to Vivis's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
i am gluten free and somewhat dairy free. The fairlife protein shakes are lactose-free and don't bother my digestion at all. Plus they truly taste like regular milk. I like the chocolate, salted caramel and vanilla. Sometimes i add sugar free flavoring to the vanilla, or peanut butter powder to the chocolate. There is a coffee flavor fairlife protein shake that has caffeine so beware of that if you can't have caffeine (the label is eerily similar to the chocolate ones). Good luck! -

i am waiting for a surgery date (bypass) at WVU/Ruby Memorial in Morgantown. Where are you going for your surgery? -
2 months Pre-Op but can't stop binging fast food, pls help!
joanie pony replied to Wildflower Bohême's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
i have been where you are - generalized anxiety disorder, PTSD, and major depressive disorder. It did not manifest in binge-eating, but in other harmful ways. I completely understand that compulsion though. Medication & therapy helped a lot! The medicine helped me calm down and concentrate enough to learn and use the coping skills from my therapy. It all went hand-in-hand for me. My mental health is really good now. I wish you all the best! -
Wow! Great job!

hello & welcome! My husband and I are getting the bypass too. We have all our clearances finished and now are just waiting on a date. I have requested for us to have surgery the same day or close to it. We are in our 50's and are empty-nesters. Our adult twins will come to help us in the first week after surgery. It's so exciting to be doing this with my husband - it's brought us closer really - having a common goal. Good luck to you both!

joanie pony replied to Nifer72's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
good luck! sorry i didn't respond to a question you asked me on another post about the sidebar. Someone else answered, and now it appears you figured it out too. Hope you are doing well -
Sidebars - can BP help nudge users to fill in their info?
joanie pony replied to a topic in Website Assistance & Suggestions
i've been using my ipad and i'm not given the option to update this info for myself. i'll try it on my desktop computer though. Nope, can't access it from my desktop either. My husband said i might have to post a certain number of things here before i'm allowed to add items to my profile. So, be patient with all us newbies. We are all a work in progress FOUND IT! It is difficult to find where to to fill out the side bar info. When i filled in my profile information, the side bar info was there but i wasn't able to click into any of it. I finally found it somewhere else. -
My husband and I are on this weight loss surgery journey together. We have completed all our pre-op requirements, and now are just waiting. We will both be having the gastric bypass and are hoping for a 100 lb loss each. I have requested to have our surgeries same day or within days of each other - our adult children have agreed to help us out for awhile. I'm excited to finally post here after reading everyone else's news & questions. I've been gathering information, gadgets and containers in anticipation of our new lifestyle. We already have made big changes and lost some weight. So good luck to Mike & I, as well as, all of you 😀
