    May 2022 Surgeries

Had my rny on 5/16, no complications or issues. The first two weeks of recovery went great, and I went down 20 lbs pretty quickly. Unfortunately I ended up in the hospital after 2 days of vomiting and nausea with diabetic keto acidosis and dehydration. I was in the hospital for 2 days and it threw me off my recovery a little. Since then I’ve been trying to get back into walking every day again as I haven’t lost anything after the initial 20 lbs. I just had my first post-op appointment on Wednesday and spoke to the nurse practitioner about some lower abdominal pain that has remained since getting sick, and she suggested that I switch the brand of water I’m drinking to something less acidic. I feel lucky that I’m not having any bigger issues. I seem to be tolerating each new food without a problem and have no issues getting my protein and water in everyday, I’m just frustrated that the scale hasn’t moved in 2 weeks. ☹️
  2. Hi, I need some help/advice. I’m 10 days post-op after RNY. Yesterday I was feeling queasy all day, but today I woke up feeling a lot worse. Nausea, burning pain in my lower abdomen and a raging headache. I’ve taken tylenol, gas x, zofran and prilosec but nothing seems to be touching it. Sleep is my only relief. Before surgery I would take alka seltzer for stomach pain, but I know that is a non-option. Anyone have any suggestions? Thank you!

    May 2022 surgery?

Had my RNY yesterday, everything went well. This gas pain is killing me though and it hurts to drink anything, but it could be worse. Trying to walk as much as I can and taking gas-x. Anyone have any other tricks?

    Outpatient surgery?

Ugh, that sounds like such a rough start to your recovery, I’m sorry you had to deal with that. I’m hoping there aren’t any complications, but I know everyone’s experience is different.

    Outpatient surgery?

It was $14,500. It was much less expensive than the other self-pay places I found. The sleeve is around $12,000 I think.

    Outpatient surgery?

I’m self-pay, which is why it’s an outpatient procedure. I live about an hour and a half from the surgery center so I’m staying in a hotel close by. I have to go the next day (Tuesday) for a swallow study, and then a follow up with the surgeon on Wednesday so I’ll be there for a few days. My best friend will be with me.
  7. Hi, I wanted to ask about those who have had their wls done at a surgery center, rather than a hospital? My RNY is scheduled for Monday and I’ll be released that same day so I was just curious if you felt comfortable enough going home the same day, or if you had any other concerns with it? Thanks for your help! I’ve been learning so much from this forum.

    May 2022 surgery?

Thanks so much! Only 1 week away now, I can’t believe it. Good luck to you!

    May 2022 surgery?

Gastric bypass is set for May 16th. Hopefully that won’t get delayed. I’ve been having some stomach issues, and my primary doctor is wary about approving me for surgery until we find out what’s going on. I can’t wait!
