My port does the same thing. I was so nervous before my surgery I didnt think to ask for a low profile port as I did not have alot of wieght to lose. do they swap them out for free? if not is the cost still pretty high as for the original banding??

Has anyone here gone to Dr. Rodriguez in Monterrey to get their lapband??? If so how was the experience? I'm seriously considering going to him to get banded but my Mom is nevrous b/c its Mexico and all she kept asking me if the Water was safe to drink lol . Anyway if anyone has used hime please tell me how your experience was with the doc, staff, hospital, surgery etc.(im getting the $7,900 package) and if you have to go back there to get fills or if a doctor near your hometown was able to do the fills for you so that you didn't have to travel all the way back to Mexico. Thanks

hey all, i'm just leaving a little progress report.. i was banded march 25 06 so i'm only just under 2months out and have lost 17lbs. I'm not a typical bandster, i was considered a cosmetic band patient since i have a lower amount to lose and had to go to Mexico for surgery. Im short too,5'4, so all the extra wieght certainly didnt look good on my short frame. I started at 165 and am at 148 right now, i want to get down to 135 but 140 is close enough for me. I love my band and couldnt have done this without it!!:clap2: wannab

When will I lose weight? Frustrated!!
wannaB replied to Deewillbethin's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I went to the same doc as you for the same reason as you, not obese per say just had some extra lbs that I couldnt lose on my own. I have lost about 14lbs in 5wks without a fill so far, I go for my first one next week. wht i was told is that the less you have to lose the more fills you will need in order to drop the lbs. Everybody is different, i had the same fears that I wouldnt lose anything and have spent all that money. Give it some time I'm sure your body will adjust and start to drop some lbs. -
I have the Swedish Band and want to get my port switched out for a new low profile port by my doc that did my surgery (Dr. Arturo Rodreguiz) said it cant be done. My question is has anyone that has a Swedish band like me gotten their ports switched out for a low profile port? If you have where did you get it done, how much did it cost, and who did it????? I just dont understand how other bandsters with the Inamed band, etc. are able to get thier ports switched but the Swedish bandsters cant, they are basically the same thing, the Swedish band just holds more fill liquid. :help: wannab

Swedish Band aka Johnson and Johnson band
wannaB replied to wannaB's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
johnson and johnson just recently bought the swedish band. i know that there is a low profile port for the swedish band and thats why i dont see why my port cant be switched to one, but my doc said it cant. thats why im checking around to see if anyone with a swedish band has had theirs switched:) -
Did any of you that had your ports switched to low profile ports have the Swedish band? I have the swedish band and my doc says my port cant be swithced to a low profile port.

Do I weigh enough to do this?
wannaB replied to AngieHH's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hey there, my case was just like yours. I had an unwanted 35lbs that i had been unsuccessful at losing for well over a year despite excercising and folowing a strict diet plan, I also didnt want to wait until my wieght became a big health risk in order to get some help. Doctors here in the states offered me no help, all they told me was to keep at it and that i was expecting too much to happen to quickly(i didnt think a year was too soon to expect some type of result).Anyway I was banded on March 25th and have lost 12lbs so far. There are doctors that will band people who are like us, those that only have a moderate amount of weight to lose but you wont find them in the states you would have to go out of the country like to Mexico for example like i did. I went to Dr. Arturo Rodriguez in Monterrey Mexico. He's a great doc and i would highly recommend him to anyone, his staff's great as well. I was a self-pay and the price isnt too bad either I payed 7,900 plus airfare everything else is covered.(not that price should influence your decision)I got there on a friday night and left on monday AM it was a mini vacation:) . There are a few websites you can go to to find out more info on him. http://www.bandstersforum.com/ http://www.lapbandinformation.com/ if you call Patti Lissberger she can give you alot of helpful information, she's who I spoke to when i was looking into the band surgery. 940-465-1255 is her cell number. hope this helps wannab -
ok i talked to my doc about getting a low profile port inserted and having my regular one taken out and he said it cant be replaced becuase the band comes in a package and a smaller port needs a smaller tube then i have so it wouldnt fit. basically i'd need a whole new lapband system in order to get a smaller port. I have the sweedish band which is made out of titanium which i guess might be a reason why it cant be switched, but i've read of so many people getting their ports switched out to be the low profile port i find it hard to believe it is impossible to have done. all he said that could be done is have the port repositioned in order to hide it better but i really would prefer just getting a smaller port. :help: ANYWAY my big question is... has any one that has a sweedish band like me gotten their port switched out for a newer low profile port????? thanks

im 6days post op and i have a question about my port. well im not very swolen any more at least i dont think i am and i can easily feel where my port is placed and when i lay down and look in the mirror i can see a bit of a bump where the port is. my question is am i always going to be able to feel/see my port placement so easily?? i hope not but i guess if i do its a small price to pay to loose my unwanted weight right.:nervous also the port is placed under the stomach muscles right??? wannab

hey all i had my surgery by doc arturo rodriguez on march 25th. he's a great doc really nice good staff. i'm a week out and doin fine i cant wait till i start the mushies tomorrow! i wanna chew lol!! anyway no regrets other then i didnt go with a low profile port(im smaller then most of the people that get lapband done, so my port sticks out already) but thats all. wannab:)

i'm going to be getting a tummy tuck soon and i'm wondering if the lapband interfers with the procedure. Since in a tuck they pull ur skin down and all does that effect the port placement at all or anything else with the band? wannab
