Oh man. I first day back was rough! I only lasted 3 hours and went home and slept for 3-4 hours. I was lightheaded, exhausted, nauseous and overall miserable! It got better each day. By day 4 I was back to working a full 8 hrs but very tired by the end of the day. I have pretty much a desk job, and basically just moving back and forth from 1 desk to another.

The temp isn't important to me. I just can't have blood on my plate. And don't prefer the meat to still look bloody and "fresh". Like "Here, I just cut a chunk off a cow have a bite". haha NO THANKS! -

Hello. I notice you eat TONS of salads. I LOVE SALAD!! I am only 4 weeks post-op do can't have it yet but excited for when I can. I have a question though, how do you meet protein goals with so much salad in your diet? -

Our day is coming! 3 more sleeps!!! -
It is the Friday before my surgery, Surgery day is Monday the 21st. Today is my last day of work for a few weeks. I am stressed out about that but happy to get some time off. My job is hectic and stressful and quite demanding. Frankly, no one else can do my job although people will try so there will lots of issues upon my return. I am trying not to worry about it. I am trying to only worry about me for once. I want to go Monday have a easy surgery, and hope to have a smooth recovery. I am looking forward to trying new things and changing a lot of things in my life. I think I am still in disbelief that my day has finally come. I am not nervous or excited, anything really. I am just READY. Thanks for letting me share! 😊

Negative comments from family members
kcuster83 replied to fourmonthspreop's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I am sorry you are dealing with this. I told VERY few people, none of which are my family. For this exact reason. -
FYI: If you mix protein powder with more than the 8oz of liquid it thins it out and doesn't have the shake consistency. Example: I am so sick of shakes but I am pre-op so I have to suck it up. But 2 of my shakes a day are to be mixed with calorie free liquid rather than milk. So, I found crystal lite lemonade and strawberry protein powder to be delicious. But, I was getting tired of the "shake" so I tried to add more lemonade. I used 10 oz lemonade and my normal 1 scoop powder and it is nice and thin. Just like drinking actual lemonade. Post op- you get more of your fluids and still get the protein too!

YESSSSSS 1000%!!! These sites are great for so many reasons, but they are personal to each person. They are not doctors, they are not surgeons. -
Brownie Batter Hummus Recipe- Super easy
kcuster83 replied to ShoppGirl's topic in Food and Nutrition
I LOVE hummus. Thanks for sharing. I might even try to modify the recipe to add protein powder. I will let you know how it turns out. (If I can find this post at that time) haha -
Same here, he got a "passport". It had all the tests and classes we needed with a spot to write the date/tine of it. A box to check off when it was completed. Also, it had all the numbers to call to schedule your appointments and in what order to do them. My team is awesome, from day 1. I have ZERO complaints. They make the process as easy as possible and support your every single step of the way. I have read so many bad stories about people's teams. I am greatfull I found a great team/surgical center!

Thanks, not a place I ever go so makes sense I wouldn't see them. haha

estimated weight loss
kcuster83 replied to jantje's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
She will level out. Her body will know when to stop, she can also adjust her calories to maintain or even gain a few lbs if needed. If it becomes a real concern she can consult her nutritionist to help her get to and maintain a healthy weight. -
I like the gatorade zero with protein. (pre mixed bottles) 20 oz bottle is between 50-70 calories depending on flavor and 20 g protein. I wouldn't stock up too much for after surgery, a lot of people talk about their taste buds changing drastically after surgery. A lot of things you like before surgery you don't like after surgery and vise versa.

Same here, when is your surgery date? Mine is the 21st. I am tired of shakes though, I have been on my pre-op diet since the 7th. Good thing tho, I lost 12 lbs so far since I started the pre-op. haha -
Does your center have support groups?
kcuster83 replied to learn2cook's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
That doesn't sound like much of a support group, more like a informative class. Weird and I agree, probably pointless. -
Does your center have support groups?
kcuster83 replied to learn2cook's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Mine has a FB group and a support group that is currently a zoom meeting but that only switched during COVID so who knows if it will go back to an in person group. I am on the FB group but don't ever engage. I have not joined the ZOOM meeting yet and not sure I will. -

Yes, very familiar with the area. I am in Baltimore so we are pretty close. Where did you have your surgery? I am having mine done at Franklin square with Dr. You.
