Calories per day - 2 months post op?
kcuster83 replied to Flab-U-Less Forever's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
My team has us at 800-1000 a day from week 6 until maintenance. With that being said, I am into my 6th week and I can barely get 600 cals a day. I do hit my fluid and protein goals every day though. -
$1 a day is very inexpensive. There are tons of free workout videos but some people need accountability for success. My last go round with a large amount of weight loss I worked with a personal trainer and he whipped my ass right into shape. He kept me motivated more than any time in my life I had tried to do the gym on my own and he made it fun! Then he moved away and I got fat again.. but that is besides the point. haha
-
I can understand that, but not even people who knew I had surgery. In their defense, my clothes are so loose and too big that they really might not even be able to tell. haha Like I mentioned, I only notice it in my face and when I am naked. 🤣🤣
-
I wasn't really sure how often I had planned to measure. Probably every few months, I can already see a drastic change in face in my body when I am naked. haha I even said to my wife the other day "It's kinda sad to be so fat that you can loose 70lbs and not one person even notice that you have lost weight".
-
That's awesome, great job! I took measurements the night before surgery and haven't measured since. Now I am curious!

Its great you didn't let him or anyone else pressure you. You have to do what is right for you. Good luck on your journey, no matter what it is! -
Activities 6-8 weeks post VSG
kcuster83 replied to kthorn1's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I started out just about where you are. In the same boat, I could do just about anything except run and fit into small spaces. haha I have only lost 67lbs and you wouldn't believe the difference already! It amazes me how I notice every little change as I loose weight but surely didn't notice the changes going up! -

Yes- at 6 weeks out I can already tell a difference! For example, my feet don't hurt nearly as much when I am up a long time. My knees don't make grinding sounds as bad if at all with my right knee. -

I am 6 weeks post op, no problems at all. Feel good and normal energy. -
Hello. I am 6 weeks post op and I don't feel restriction either. I just weigh and measure my food and only eat the serving amounts on my list. So far I have been able to eat anything except solid beef. (ground beef is ok)

How to survive company workshops?
kcuster83 replied to Danijela's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Tell them you're doing a cleanse? People love "fad" diets. lol -
Oh my, I use wet crushed hots sometimes to make it spicy but jalapeno sounds delish!
-
It is probably fine if just a drop or 2, especially if you are headed for a check up in 2 days. There is always 1 or 2 incisions that they move around the most in and take longer to heal, bruise up etc. That is probably one of them. Just my opinion based on my experience, I am not a DR or nurse!

Is it pure blood? They tend to leak a little but it is clear, but the bandage will have dry blood and the mixture of the clear liquid and the dry blood will make it look a little pink.

Trying to eat more veggies- 3 months post op
kcuster83 replied to fourmonthspreop's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
YEESSSS!! I feel this in my soul! I can't believe how much I miss salad and I am only 6 weeks post-op. I have had some raw veggies and slowly adding my favorites back into my diet to see how my stomach does. Lettuce/spinach etc. is last as apparently it is the hardest to digest. But I CAN NOT WAIT!! -
Gastric Bypass WITH stomach removal
kcuster83 replied to Quesodip251's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Agreed, I think it is a little "odd". Who made that "medical decision" while I was unable to do it myself? Was it a medical emergency that forced the surgeon to make this change? A surgeon or doctor or anyone can't just do what they want that is the point of medical proxies. -
YESSS It was quite marvalous to move onto solid foods and to chew. Good luck at your follow up, I hope everything is on track and your doing well!

It is genetic. Luckily, every time in the past I have lost weight my BP dropped back to normal so I have high hopes for this time too. Although, I was younger so I might just be genetically screwed now. haha

Mine changed instantly. I was on 2 meds and it was still on the high side (130s/90s). In the hospital the only gave me 1 of my BP meds (I don't know why) and it was perfect so I continued this at home and it has stayed perfect. I am hoping I will be able to loose the meds completely after loosing more weight. I can't speak for the glucose. My only medical issue is the high BP.

I feel your pain! HAH! I used to spend 3x more at Bj's than intended. Now, I do online orders and pick them up so I only spend 2x as much. lol -
I wish more of these lower level categories were more active. When I first joined this forum I went through all the forums and noticed that most of them haven't been very active of at all in years. I went back on this particular subject and realized I was in 2007 before I knew it. I have gotten a few good old recipes from here. We should try to make it more active. This one and others! Anyone have anything new and delicious to share? I made a pizza roll up as a quick lunch yesterday. Turkey pepperoni, I used a half of a folio cheese wrap. Cheese on a plate first then the pepperoni and microwaved it for about 20-30 seconds. Took it out, let it sit for a few seconds and then rolled it up. Dipped it in low calorie/sugar spaghetti sauce.

It gets better, I am 6 weeks post op and I can drink 16 oz in about 30-40 minutes now. Regardless, it still feels like I am eating and drinking all day. And, I am only eating 3 meals, sometimes a small snack like a babybell or string cheese to increase my protein.

Mashed Cauliflower during puréed phase?
kcuster83 replied to xtielynn's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
I didn't eat it during my pureed phase but I did during my soft phase. I made cauliflower mac-n-cheese. I also made buffalo cauliflower in the air fryer. (no breading). Both sat very well with me and were very good! -
Never heard of them, I think you describe them as I would pumpkin seeds which I like. I have not tried any nuts since surgery but plan too at some point, I may have to try these.

Before surgery I was on 2 blood pressure meds and was still borderline high. (130s/90s) IMMEDIATELY after surgery the hospital was only giving me 1 blood pressure med and it was perfect and has been every since. (115ish/70s) My Dr told me to check and everyday to make sure it doesnt drop under 100/60 ans if so call him right away. I hope to be off the meds after loosing some more weight. It is the only medication I am on other than preventative from the surgeon for a few months.
