Congratulations on your weight loss!

So what will be the difference? Is she putting you on a longer or stricter diet to shrink the liver?
-
WHOA! Yes, I am very sorry to hear that @gina923 that is horrible. @liveaboard15 Yes, same here. We were warned about that and not doing to bowel prep properly that he may not be able to continue with surgery but I have never actually heard of it happening! That sucks!

Sounds like a solid plan. Glad to hear it worked out.

WOOHOO! Good for you and good luck! I didn't know you were still updated when I commented or I would have waited. haha

Hello Kevin, Welcome! It does seem quite overwhelming at first, but if you just take it one thing at a time. Step by step, you will be fine and the tension eases quickly. All insurance requirements are different. My insurance was a 4 month minimum process, but the surgeon center I decided to go with had a 6 month process with the potential of expediting if you showed dedication. I did end up having my process expedited, it was about 4.5 months from start to surgery. I had to have 6 classes, 2 dietitian appointments, medical clearance from the doctor, psych clearance from a psychologist, and a EDG. Take a deep breath, GO GOT THIS!!!❤️

Very good idea. I noticed they have a singles forum in here but it seems dead.

WOW! That seems like an extreme anemia case. Glad you are ok!
-
Oh no! That is horrible. I am so sorry! Did your surgeon put on you a pre-op liver shrinking diet? Are they willing to try again? Maybe you need a stricter, longer diet to help?

Worried about getting surgery
kcuster83 replied to Darkangel505's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I originally wanted sleeve but I had severe GERD. My surgeon said it was my choice but gave me his input for why he suggests Bypass. Explaining that it is more likely that sleeve patients end up with GERD even without having prior issues; while is tends to relieve (cure) GERD with Bypass patients. My GERD was horrible, I mean HORRIBLE! I was on 2 prescriptions plus eating tums regularly and still had regular issues. Up a lot of nights vomiting fire! Some times so bad my voice/throat would be hoarse for days after and episode. Long story short, I opted for bypass. No regrets. 3 months out and I am off ALL GERD medications and haven't eaten any tums. No sign of acid /GERD problems! -
Hello. First, CONGRATULATIONS on your weight loss and maintaining it! My surgeon explained to me that it was very likely for Bypass patients to end up Anemic and to need iron transfusions. Especially if already anemic before surgery. Before surgery I was already slightly anemic but managed with OTC iron supplements. I now take a multivitamin with iron and so far so good but I am only 3.5 months post op so who knows what the future holds. I also believe the 30 minute rule is life long, at least with my team it is. Sometimes if I feel like I just REALLY need a drink while eating I will eat 1 ice cube and it seems to do the job.

I imagine the anxiety of having that conversation in a serious manor. UHG! I am in a FB bariatric group, and I know of a few couples who actually met in support groups and hit it off. I think that would be ideal in my situation. I think it tends to me more females than males in these types of groups which I guess could make things more difficult.

Losing more weight NOT exercising???
kcuster83 replied to SleeveToBypass2023's topic in Fitness & Exercise
hmmm I don't know the answer. However, I have not exercised at all so far. I find it hard to get motivated to exercised when I am already loosing weight so rapidly. I am generally way less lazy though. I don't just come home from work and lounge on the couch. I do random stuff, park further away when going places. Take the steps more. I live in the city, so I walk places more rather than driving a mile away and looking for parking... all that kind of stuff -

Favorite sugar free and other low calorie sauces
kcuster83 replied to ShoppGirl's topic in Food and Nutrition
I think all of the SF sauces have a weird after taste. I have tried so many and have had no luck. I just use regular sauce because I barely use it anyway. When I do, I measure it out and make sure I know exactly how much I use. I think the bigger problems of our past was using 1/4 cup or more at a time rather than the 2 TBSP servings. Those calories add up FAST! -
Good luck! Hope everything goes well today!

Big pain in one incision on day 3 post op
kcuster83 replied to Juniper123's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had bypass with hernia repair and esophagus repair and "trimming". I had 1 incision that was larger and more painful than the rest but not to the point of taking my breath away. It just took longer to heal and hurt a little more than the rest of them. -

14 Years after my surgery and Malabsorption issues

Another option is to find a new local bariatric surgeon/specialist. Let them start from the beginning, go over everything and do their own testing. -
Joint pain and dehydration

Dehydration does crazy things to your body. It is possible but I would call your surgeon.
