Finally i can buy clothes again

Congratulations! It is so exciting to have to buy clothes (although gets costly, haha) I was wearing clothes until it was impossible, shirts so big they were falling off my shoulders. Constantly pulling up my paints or even holding them up while I walked. HAHA! Dropping weight so quickly, I would have been buying clothes every month. It got annoying and I started buying or wearing clothes a smidge tighter or more fitting than I am comfortable in. Like I feel like some of my shirts are a little more snug than preferred and people can see my blobby saggy skin. HAHA BUT! I will say, I have noticed that since I started wearing well fitting clothes EVERYONE NOTICES the huge change. I went out this weekend and wore a shirt that was (IMO) a bit too fitting. I wasn't totally comfortable in it. But, I knew I would be standing/walking most of the time so my stomach/skin wouldn't be squished out making it tighter (if that makes sense)... Anyway... friends posted pics they took on FB and when I saw myself i was like WHOA LOOK AT ME!!!! I had multiple people comment on the pics about how great I looked, people even texted me congratulating me and sending me inspiring messages! Even after loosing almost 140 lbs I just recently could see it in other people pictures, like if I took a selfy I could see it but when other people took full body pics I still see the same ol fat girl. Then I went out with my bestie for sobriety celebration and when I saw the pics I was like woo look at me getting skinny. haha Although, I still see the fat girl a lot! This weekend's pictures are when I REALLY saw it. Fitted clothes, jaw line.. who is this woman! Congratulations to ALL OF US! We put in the work!
  2. Hello and welcome to the other side. My first day after surgery was horrible, I had unbearable gas pain. I also had basically 3 surgeries in 1 as my surgeon puts it. So he said I needed extra gas. I was kept 2 nights in the hospital, but the 3rd day it was a DRASTIC change for the better. I had some minor pain in my shoulder area from the gas but otherwise I felt almost back to normal. For a few weeks after surgery I would get tired very quickly but otherwise I was good to go. I am grateful that I had an easy recovery. Glad you are doing well!
  3. Hello. Really everyone is different. Without knowing all of your details it is hard to say. You could talk it over with your Dietician or Nutritionist? They could go over your diet with you, and see if they find something that could be slowing things down. Be open and honest, it will only help you. I eat carbs (minimal because of how much I can eat), my team and Nutritionist are very "balanced diet" friendly. But again, everyone is different. Some people's body hate carbs and other are fine with eating them. Like you mentioned, if you have less to loose than you will loose slower. As well as when people starting out bigger get closer to a "normal" weight they slow down substantially. I have a friend who has been trying to loose her last 20 lbs for months now. Just have to keep pushing. Good luck, loss is still loss no matter how fast or slow you think it is going!
  4. Hello, I just make the BEST possible choice of what is there. Eat small portions and even smaller if there is no healthier options. Seems to work for me so far. As far as the Holidays, I don't know. This will be my first round of Holidays since surgery. I plan to handle it just like I mentioned above though.
  5. I don't think it is the same thing. What you are talking about it caused by froth from shaking it up. Carbonation bubbles have gas in them. I will say if you let your shake sit a few minutes, most of the bubbles and foam go away. I use an electric blender cup when I use powder because I think it mixes better. It literally doubles in the cup with foam and froth but if I let it sit for a few minutes it is pretty much gone.
  6. Woohoo! Be proud, that weight loss is something to be proud of! Keep it up.

    High protein snacks

I use premier protein premade shakes, or Unjury powder.
  8. Might be able to find a sugar free one, I never used it or looked into it. I just knew about it for hangover cures. hahaha

    I tried real food

I had to look up some of the foods they mentioned. haha

    Vitamin Help

First " vehemently" word of the day! I had to look it up, so I learned a new word today. Thanks! Second: I couldn't stand the chewable in any form. Luckily my team approved me for capsules very early on. I take these and so far so good with blood work. Much cheaper than bariatric fusion too. Amazon, $30 for 3 months worth.

    Starting my journey - Advice

Hello! I am just under 6 months post op. My advise: start practicing changes PRE-OP. For example: PRE-OP I started Counted calories and logged everything (lost weight as a bonus). Stopped drinking soda (even tho I only drank diet). Stopped drinking with my meals. I feel like all these little things made the transition easier post-op. As far as being a student, I personally think you will be fine in 3 weeks. Of course everyone is different so take it with a grain of salt. I had no complications or any issues after surgery. (Luckyyy and thankful) I took a month off of work but ended up coming back at 3 weeks. I did get tired SUPER fast the first few days but after that I was pretty much back to normal. Good luck on your journey, it is SO WORTH IT!

    BED and psych clearance

There was a woman in another forum I am a member of who was an untreated binge eater. She was required to have extra sessions with the therapist but she was eventually approved. I wish I remembered who she was so I could try to connect you with her. Good luck

    Vitamin Help

How far post op are you? Have you had any blood work since using the patches? I am curious to see how they are working for you, if you don't mind sharing. My team is 100% against them, they said they only have a 20% success rate for proper absorption.
  14. I don't know what that could be, ask your doctor or surgeon. But, water actually flushes electrolytes through your system. So if that is your concern, drink some zero sugar Gatorade or even add an electrolyte packet to your water. Something like this, I don't know if they have sugar or not though. You could look into it.
  15. Hello and welcome. I believe there is a "guys only" forum if your questions are specifically male related you could try that forum. But, I have noticed that the sub category forums seem to be pretty dead. You can try to search your questions, you would be surprised what pops up! Otherwise, just post your questions and people will answer. Maybe men or women so if you specifically want male answers, maybe state that in your post. Good luck, I hop you get all your questions answered!

    Bariatric friendly alcoholic drinks?

I have drank 2 times since surgery. First time I had 4 shots over 5 hours and it was weird, I actually made a post about it. The first shot hit me hard and quick but then passed quick and nothing else really eventful through the night. Was kind of a waste of calories. BUT! The second time I drank I was **** faced and passed out in the bathroom by 10pm. It was crazy. I made "skinny margaritas", to keep it as you say bariatric friendly. My recipe is : 24oz cup filled with ice, half shot of pure lime juice, half shot of pure lemon juice, 2 shots of tequila and 3 splenda packets. The only sugar and calories are in the alcohol. I don't know why I got so trashed on these and not the shots though, so BE WARE when drinking.

    CrossFit and carbs?

I would say you should talk to your Dietician/Nutritionist about your exercise routine. I would think they would help you adjust your diet accordingly.

    Hunger crushed and taste change

I am just about 6 months post-op and still have zero hunger. I just eat 3 times a day and stay within my plan allowances. My Dietician ensures me it will come back and when it does be prepared because it gets harder to stay focused. He says to take the "non hungry" time to create new habits and routines so when it comes back my brain is already trained. I would be ok to never be hungry again. haha As far as taste, some things changed for me but it's not too bad.

    Food Before and After Photos

@Starwarsandcupcakes Your food always looks so interesting. You eat such a variety of foods, I am envious of that! I always eat the same crap over and over.

    I tried real food

I could barely eat anything a month out. I always felt full, even when drinking a shake. Now (almost 6 months) it kind of depends on the food. Sometimes I seem to be able to eat way more than other times.

    I tried real food

Are you supposed to be eating solids? Sometimes if the nerves haven't fully healed you still don't have full feeling and don't know you're full yet. Just eat the servings you are supposed to and stick with it. You don't want to over eat. You can contact your team and/or Nutritionist to see if they have some suggestions also.
  22. Our bodies do ALL KINDS of adjusting as we are loosing weight so rapidly. I can't say for sure what is what because we are all different. Started a different sizes and body types, loose at different paces, etc. If it gets to the point it effects you, reach out to your team for extra reassurance but I think it is safe to say your body is adjusting. Good luck!
  23. I slouch too and I said the same thing. My giant belly isn't holding me up anymore. I find myself pushing to sit up straight but I usually don't notice it till my back starts hurting.

    Abdominal Binder

My surgeon never mentioned using one, but I heard a lot of people using them on these forums. After surgery when I got up and started moving around my nurse gave me one. I didn't feel like it helped so I took it off and never used it.
