    6 month follow up

What do you mean your plan refers out? Are you having and problems? Have any concerns? I would think there isn't really anything to specifically ask unless you are having issues or have concerns about something?

    Goal change!

I decided over the weekend that I wanted to change my goal weight. haha Not because I want to be skinnier but because I want to lose half of me. I think it would be really exciting and rewarding to myself to know that I have literally lost half of myself. I am 6ft tall, and may never hit it but that's ok. I will try and will be happy even if I don't but I want to try! Does anyone else update their goals for "weird" random reasons other than the actual weight itself?

    Goal change!

I was pretty set on mine from day one. But then suddenly I realized, I really could be half of me, which seemed fun so I lowered it just a little bit to make the extra effort!

    Calorie shock

There was a recipe I used to make pre-op that I loved. Homemade beef and broccoli. I have been wanting it, so I made a crock pot of it yesterday to have for lunches this week. Well, this is the first time I entered the ingredients and added up calories and WHOA! I was a bit shocked. There really isn't much to it other than BEEF (top round) and BROCCOLI! I mean, in all actuality the calories aren't bad, just more than I eat now for a meal. The random little things added up quick! 340 calories and 28 g protein per serving. I was just a bit shocked that they added up to that! Next time I will try to tweak the recipe to get it a little lighter and see how it tastes. Sticker shock, if you will! I am eating it anyway because like I said, not horrible but not my typical meal. But I am not just going to waste it all so I will enjoy it this week and go from there!

    HealthChoice Wait Time?

Every insurance company and surgeons requirements differ so much. My insurance requires a 4 month process (Cigna), but my Bariatric office requires a minimum of 6 month process.

    Calorie shock

I am hit or miss with frozen and leftovers in general. I will usually freeze a serving of something to test it out so I don't waste too much if it gets weird. I will be fine with it this week, cut a few somewhere else if needed but even if I ended up 40-50 cals over it is not going to hurt me. I might freeze a portion and test it out though, good thinking!

    Calorie shock

I am eating about 1000 calories a day so I try to stay under 300 cals per meal. So like I said, not horrible but a little more than I usually eat. It was more of a shock that all the little ingredients added up so quick. The actual beef and broccoli was only 205 cals of it.

    Pre op panic!

Mine was about 600 calories a day so I feel your pain. We all do, diets differ but they are all hard. Mine was 4 shakes a day and then we were given a list of foods and the serving sizes and we were allowed 6 servings a day. It was SF pudding, plain oatmeal, some fresh veggies etc. No proteins or carbs. All of the protein came from the shakes. you can do it!
  11. Hello and welcome! I did not have a revision, I was "virgin" bypass. But, have no regrets and only wish I had done it earlier. Good luck!

    IV iron infusion?

I have no personally but know people who have. It is very common after WLS.
  13. Sorry you are struggling. A lot of people struggle early out, and they say it gets better. It will get better. Based on your post, it seems your surgeon disregarded you not being able to eat due to all the other concerns they found. Maybe you should revisit that with your surgeon, even with a phone call. Good luck and I hope you start feeling better soon.

    Pre op panic!

I have heard of people being opened up and then closed without surgery because their liver was too large. The diet is to try to shrink the liver, so cheating won't help. I am sure you will be fine if you stuck with it 99% of the time, but there is always a chance. Strictly stick with it for the remainder of your pre-op diet is really the best thing you can do at this point. Good luck.
  15. I use a ton of salt on fries, the saltier the better. 😁
  16. Same here, I have never been a "salt" person. I only put it on french fries and never even cook with it. Now I am trying to find salty things to eat, and add salt to things if I can.

    Surgery Scheduled

Congratulations! The sugar is person to person. To be safe, I would say make your own or look for sugar free/no sugar added oatmeal?
  18. Its like politics.. just don't go there. haha

What is wrong with the medical system

Oh yea, I am right there with you!
  20. I would agree with @SpartanMaker your insurance likely will not cover it. You may have to pay out of pocket. Good luck

What is wrong with the medical system

Going to an ER for an XRAY seems like a massive waste of resources. That is strange. I have never went to the ER for anything except and actual emergency. Just another big insurance waste of time and money!
  22. You have to make this decision for yourself. There are some obvious CONS with drinking alcohol anytime and I would say even more of them after surgery. I will say, take it slow. One drink, drink it slow and wait to see how it effects you. It hits me hard, like really hard. I have only drank 2 times and really just once because the first time was more of a sip to taste test. haha But I had 3 drinks over 5 hours the second time and I was destroyed and would NOT sober up or throw up no matter what i did so I was just miserable.
  23. I would think his "non drinker "statement" is more of not being a REGULAR drinker but having occasional drinks. I say that because I am the same. Not really a drinker, maybe 3-4 times a year.
  24. Mine has not went back to normal. haha

What is wrong with the medical system

We have places like Advanced radiology around here. You can get Xrays and other tests like MRIs and don't need to go to the hospital. The walk in clinics are nice, but a lot of times (around here) they don't have a tech to take the xray so the send you somewhere else anyway.
