    Stalled

Same! My program doesn't either. Stress protein and fluids and then a normal balanced diet. I quote my dietician here "Nothing is off limits, you just have learn moderation and a balanced diet" This is exactly why I always gain back my weight. The diets weren't realistic to a life long commitment. No carbs are impossible to maintain for the rest of your life. I lost about 170 lbs eating grilled chicken and a fresh veggie EVERY DAY it got so old I just cracked and ate everything i deprived myself of to loose the weight. Obviously gaining it all back. Some people need low carb, some don't. Some people can't eat dairy, some can. We are all different.
  2. Walmart has store brand thin crust pizza crust. I love it, I make homemade pizza with it and the toppings are endless. I can eat a serving and the calories aren't too bad for the crust alone and if I remember correctly has 9g protein by itself! It was actually my first go at "real" pizza.

    Reflux 2 days post op

It is awful! I remember it all too well. I hope it is short lived or at least meds can rein it in and keep it under control!

    c-section vs sleeve

I don't have kids, so no c-section but I have my experience with surgeries. My bypass was by far the least painful and easiest recovery. It was also my only "internal" surgery. I don't know if that makes a difference for recovery. Through them all I am an easy patient, never complications, always healing up good, etc. I had ACL repair A leg osteotomy (google it, they cut my leg in half and realigned my bones) Surgery to pull impacted wisdom teeth -5 of them.. yes I had 5 I have extra wisdom! haha (yes, actual surgery under general anesthesia and 1 night in the hospital, it was a big ordeal) Surgery on my abdomen to clear out an severely poisonous brown recluse spider bite that was eating me from the inside out... PS also why I am TERRIFIED of spiders -legit arachnophobic here although I don't feel my fear is "irrational" This also happened in Elementary school, so I was super young! And lastly skin removal surgery. I had lost about 170 lbs years ago through basic starvation and had 17 lbs of skin removed. This was BY FAR the most painful surgery I ever had. The ONLY surgery I regularly took pain meds for. I am ANTI pain meds if I can help it! Too much addiction in my family and this world. If I can suffer through the pain, I will before taking pain meds.

    Reflux 2 days post op

Did you have sleeve or bypass? Apparently reflux is VERY common with sleeve patients. This is exactly why I went with bypass. I already had severe acid reflux (GERD) and I couldn't bare making it worse. There are a lot of times sleeve patients have revisions to bypass due to acid reflux alone. In addition, are you on any meds for it? I was on a pepcid for the first 3 months post op to cut the stomach acid and to prevent ulcers and allow my stomach to heal properly. I was told I could stop unless I had any acid symptoms and now 7 months post-op and I have ZERO acid related issues and off all meds. I was on 2 prescriptions and still eating tums/rolaids pre-op.

    Food Before and After Photos

I had a spaghetti squash I needed to use so we just came up with something and it was DELICIOUS! Looks gross but was so good! Spaghetti squash, chicken, alfredo sauce and cheese spices and hots because I like spicy 28g protein!! I ate about 2/3 of it.

    Stalled

Stalls happen, it sucks. Your body is adjusting constantly through this process, huge changes from a major surgery to your new diet. Just keep chugging along, follow your diet, work with your team/dietician and you will loose the weight. Try to weigh yourself less, measure or look for other non-scale victories to help you during these stalls. This will not be the last one, you got this!

Everyone's diet is different and everyone's body responds to carbs (or any foods) differently. I eat carbs, sometimes 20g and sometimes 150g a day, just depends on the day. I have lost over 150 lbs eating carbs, they do not effect me or my weight loss as they do some people. Everyone needs to find what works for them, with the help of their Dietician.
  9. I am glad it was resolved and you are feeling better. I have heard of this happening, scary.
  10. I am 7 months post-op: I eat pretty slow but I do find myself eating quicker sometimes and remind myself to slow down. I don't get sick from eating too fast but sometimes not chewing enough hits me slightly. Like a lump in my stomach but passes if I take a break for a few minutes then go back to eating. It depends what I am eating as for how long it takes. For example: solid proteins (meats) slow me down because they are "harder to chew" then say pork rinds which kind of dissolve while you are chewing, if that makes sense. I don't know if it is just me but sometimes as I am chewing the food just falls down my throat and I have to swallow before I normally would. It's like the food is done being chewed and escapes. haha hard to explain.
  11. Papa johns makes pizza bowls, I tried it once. Also, very greasy. I wasn't a big fan of it but people rave about it on the FB Bariatric group that I am in. Mine was cheese, pepperoni and veggies so not even a lot of meat. But, full fat cheese gets greasy when melted so I get it. But my pizza bowls aren't greasy like that. I use full fat cheese and turkey pepperoni so maybe that makes the difference.
  12. Sad, really! People are people regardless of size or looks. SMH
  13. I am not a fan of the cauliflower pizza. If you actually compare it to regular pizza, i don't see the point. I have not even tried it honestly, but it more about the comparison for me. it just never seemed "worth it" if that makes sense. About the same or more calories and fat... the carbs aren't really much less either. I don't really get it. haha
  14. So I see a lot of you mentioning how people treat you at the store, or stare, etc. I don't know if it is depending where we all live, or if I am really oblivious to it. I at 422 lbs do not ever recall these type of things happening to or around me? Like I said maybe I just never noticed, I don't know. But no one has ever stared in my grocery cart or stared so bad they ran into something. I have had a*****e kids stare or one time this boy walked up to me at the baseball field and was just like "your big, really big" LoL! It makes me curious though, was I oblivious or did it just not happen? I am still big, but I guess "normal big" not "huge" If that makes sense. I will definitely be paying more attention now to compare things now and when I am a normal thinner size and see how it differs.
  15. Hello, I was eating homemade "pizza bowls" at soft foods. Basically melted cheese, turkey pepperoni and a little sauce. Barely a bowl, more like 3 bites but still eating it. I had even taken those "cheese wraps" and warmed them up with a few turkey pepperoni on top and then rolled them up like a pizza roll and ate them. Now, 7 months post-op I kinda eat pizza. haha I usually make my own with super thin crust and can eat a piece or 2 depending on the size and the day. But even if we eat ordered pizza I usually take a few bites with crust and then just eat the toppings. I am not a carbaphobe. I eat carbs, but some fill me up way faster than others like pizza crust. So I only have a few bites to make sure I can get the protein in.
  16. Yup. I did. I lost about 170 around 8/9 years ago and had about 17 lbs of skin removed. Surprise surprise: Got fat again, fatter actually. Had bypass this year, it was a non issue. Recovery was easy peasy too.
  17. So far I haven't noticed people treating me differently. I have read and heard on MANY occasions females tend to get more attention or treated kinder in general by the public but I haven't noticed it for me. probably because I am still fat even after loosing 150 lbs. haha I do however notice I treat myself differently, unintentionally. Pre-op I would wear big clothes, to "hide" my fat body. Always jeans and a tshirt, and always preferred the tshirt loose. Now, post-op and 150 lbs less, I noticed it annoys me when my clothes are too big or loose. If my jeans are falling off, I am anxious to buy smaller ones. I like my tshirts more fitting. I also notice, I tend to migrate more towards "non" tshirts too. (I don't know what to call them..hah blouse?) Probably because I actually look smaller when things fit, and I can see the change massively!

    Fruit

I had bypass but I eat fruit. Watermelon, apples and grapes mainly but I have had a few strawberries too. It is minimal but I have had these fruits from time to time. No issues.
  19. WOOHOO! Congratulations. You can puree anything, you may just have to add some sauce or gravy to it to thin it out a bit. Get creative, have fun and enjoy!

    Cholesterol

Thanks, I have asked him multiple times and he asks about it at every follow up since it happened. So, I agree weird. Although, I hadn't lost much weight when it started. I think about 20-25 lbs by the time I got blood work. The blood work was unrelated to WLS blood work also. It's all weird, but I will read this and point it out next time I see him. Thank you!

Low BMI obesity gastric sleeve option

UHG! I wish I knew what to say to help other than you just have to do what's best for you at the end of the day. Is your wife obese? Maybe she just doesn't get the struggle?

    Cholesterol

My liver enzymes have been SUPER high since about a month after surgery. No one knows why, I am seeing a Hepatologist to try to figure it out. He is currently monitoring it with regular blood work and then we will go from there. If they are still high at my next blood work, the next step is a liver biopsy. I have been tested for all liver related diseases too, all negative! My surgeon says there is nothing related to surgery that would INCREASE your liver enzymes, if anything they would get better if they were already high. My doctor doesn't have a clue and was the one who referred me to the Hepatologist. The Hepatologist and my PCP both reviewed my past years of blood work and they have never even been slightly elevated. Now both tests are like triple what they should be. Surgery related or coincidence? Who knows!
  24. Hello, sorry to hear your struggle. I know of a few people dealing with this. Do you track your foods? Maybe you are not eating as many calories as you think? If not, try tracking for a while and keep adding calories until you stop loosing? Just a suggestion. Good luck.
