    Food Before and After Photos

It's like tapa's! I feel like Tapa's restaurants is perfect for us to taste different things and not stuff our little bellies! It can get expensive though. Although, I am not brave enough to eat a lot of what is pictured here. Like any of the "fish" dishes. haha

    Stalls and plateaus

I am bored at work so I appreciate the long educational post for me to read. But, this stool comment kind of makes me laugh. For fun, If I haven't went in a few days I will weigh myself before and after a good poop.. it doesn't change. Never has. I always want it to but it never does. I don't think our poop weighs anything. lol

Obsessed with food, cooking, feeding people

I don't imagine it being a problem. Especially when you are still eating the correct portion sizes. Enjoy it!

    Stalls and plateaus

Do you track your food intake? I would say if not, start there. If you are eating 1200 calories a day, try to cut it to 1100 a day. Not a huge amount but maybe enough to give your body a push to burn it. My Dietician says a lot that sometimes people aren't eating enough which will make you stall or gain. He will have people up their calories for a few weeks and then cut them back down to trick the metabolism. I honestly don't know if any of it works but these are things he has suggested in our support group.
  5. Sometimes the best price isn't the best outcome. Especially on things like major surgery. I completely understand looking for a good price when paying out of pocket but once you find the price be sure to do your research on the doctor and/or clinic in general. Best of luck.

    Reflux 2 days post op

Are you having sleeve or bypass? I had horrible GERD, I was on 2 prescriptions and still taking tums regularly. Even with all that, when it flared up it was unbearable. Basically vomiting acid! So bad my voice would be hoarse for days after. Anyway, I had bypass and it 100% resolved it. No meds, no tums, no signs of any acid reflux related issues at all!

    Covid Testing Prior to surgery

Yes. I had to have the "full" test a few days before and then the day of surgery at the hospital they also did a rapid test.

    Round 1 million 1

Is your revision from sleeve to bypass? Don't worry, for what I hear and read on here the recovery is almost identical. In addition, the pre-op and post-op diets are just about the same too. I had bypass. 10 day limited pre-op diet. Post-op was 2 weeks clear/full liquids, 2 weeks pureed foods, 2 weeks soft foods and then slowly transition back to a normal diet. Take it slow, test new foods 1 at a time so if you get sick you know exactly what caused it. You got this!
  11. Hello, I agree with everyone else. Ask your surgeon, hold nothing back from the person cutting you open. You don't want any unnecessary risks. Good luck!
  12. I bought canned soup and strained them, only drinking the broth. This really opened up the flavor window, they all taste different. Rather than plain boring broth. You can always add unflavored protein powder to it too. I didn't so I wouldn't know how to do it. Other people ate what was left of the soup so it didn't go to waste. I was allowed yogurt, no chunks. You could add that if it is in your plan. Greek yogurt is high protein. They have gatorade zero with protein now, (considered clear protein drinks). I tried a few different ones, gatorade was my favorite. You could also try thinning out the protein shakes to change the consistency. Or get powder and make different mixtures. For example, I used sugar free lemonade and mixed strawberry protein for a strawberry lemonade protein shake. BUT I would also add more like 10-12 OZ of lemonade to thin it out and it was more like a drink rather than a thick shake. I have heard of people getting crafty, like vanilla powder and rootbeer flavored water for a rootbeer float. Or orange flavor with vanilla protein for a creamsicle. You get the point. haha I haven't tried any of this except my strawberry lemonade one, so I don't have an opinion on how they taste. Just a few suggestions, you got this!

    30 minute drinking rule

I think the bigger issue here is that you have eaten chicken and chocolate. Practicing self control is going to go a long way with your success. In addition, now is not the time to test things. That one piece of chocolate could have sent you over the edge and made you ill for hours or even all day. You stomach needs time to heal, a tiny little shred of chicken could get caught on a stitch or staple and cause major problems, like infection. The 30 minute rule is so that you are not "full" of fluids when you try to eat and actually have room for the food. The 30 minutes after is to allow the food to stay in your system long enough for your body to absorb it's nutrients,a s the water will push it through your system faster. Not the end of the world if your forget sometimes but it may make you sick when you start more solid foods. Refocus, you can do it.

    5 years post op

That's perfect. I do the same thing, but I am much earlier out. haha Have you tried Tyson air fried chicken strips? They are a great substitute for fried and taste just about the same without the grease.

Thank you for sharing. I love that you eat a wide range of foods, and seems to be everything. You don't deprive yourself. (From what I can tell by this post) I really believe to be successful we need to eat everything but learn how to eat it correctly. This was the changing point for me. Congratulations on your success!

    UTI treatment

Naturally, cranberry is good for your urinary tract. Obviously cranberry juice isn't going to work after surgery but they have cranberry supplements you could look into.

    Confused with diet plan

You will be fine. It is a little overwhelming at first but suddenly it just clicks and next thing you know you are in a groove and killing it!

    First Bowel Movement… dark brown?

Mine changed drastically after surgery, but to a pale sand color. Who knows why. haha

    First Bowel Movement… dark brown?

Poop is brown, why be worried? What exactly are you thinking? Blood? You poop would be BLACK and like tar if you had blood in it. It would be very obvious something is not normal.
  21. I was told no caffeine for at least 30 days after surgery, it slows down your healing. Maybe check with your team to be sure. I do drink diet teas, and coffee now though without any issues. But, I did wait the 30 days before having teas.

    UTI treatment

I was told I could take anything except NSAIDS. You could always verify with your surgeon to be sure. Hope you feel better soon.
  23. Mine was basically identical to @Jeanniebug except I did not need a mammogram although I already have them yearly so that may be why?

    Confused with diet plan

You seem to have it. What are you confused about?
  25. I had no problems hitting my fluid goals just a few days after surgery. Starting hitting my protein goals within about a week and a half. I always measured my food so I knew I wasn't eating too much and ate VERY slow to be safe. Your stomach is still healing, the nerves have been cut so don't push it even if you can. You won't have full sensation until your stomach heals.
