Hey bandsisters, i looked for info on mistakes made at fill time. I could only find one so i thought i'd better post this since this site is now my number one read for any lapband questions. I had band sugery 8/13/08, first fill by my doctor 9/11/08 with no problem. I went for my second fill 10/2/08 and was told the doctor's nurse would do it. She had alot of problems accessing my port but finally said she got it. Turns out she hadn't. She had injected me with 2cc's of saline not my port. I went back to the doctor 10/7/08 because i thought maybe she had punctured my tube. He drew out all the fluid to check & said she hadn't punctured it (thank god) but she had not but in any. I still had the same 4cc's he had put in. He put in 2 more but had to take 1/2 out. Sometimes when you have no restricton after your fill it's because it wasn't put in your band. Goodbody out!

Hi kathy, i am so glad for this site. I just got my 2nd fill yesterday 10/2/08. I had a similar experience. The first fill 9/11/08 was done by my surgeon and took maybe 20 seconds definitely not even close to a miniute and it didn't hurt at all. The 2nd fill the doctor's nurse couldn't find the port and even changed needles in the middle of it. After trying for 10-15 minutes and me mentioning maybe we should call the doctor in; she said she got it and put in 2cc's but i don't feel restriction. My doctor is at a seminar until mid-oct. But i'm going to call him as soon as he returns if i'm still not feeling any restriction. I have heard though it could take up to 2 weeks after a fill to kick in. I don't know if it's true. Thanks for sharing. I was specifically looking for this; to see if it happened to anyone else. Here's to all of us finding our sweet spot. Goodbody out!

I got my first fill 9/11/08. I was a little nervous not knowing what to expect. Dr. Rantis explained my band would hold up to 14cc, he would put in 4cc to begin with; which he said was a pretty agressive fill. He told me to do a mini chrunch with my hands behind my back and with just barely a pin pick - really - he said he was first going to draw out any air left in. Then he filled me all in 1 smooth move. It couldn't have taken more than a minute not even close to two. He didn't numb me, no exray, no machines and absolutely no pain. Just 1 simple mini chrunch. He had me drink a glass of water to make sure it wasn't to filled and told me baring any complications, he'd see in 4 weeks. I hope the same for all my band sisters goodbody out

Hey Ms. Hotbody I had my surgery 8/13/08 at the Kane Center (Dr. Rantis). While I was preparing to leave the hospital after my night's stay, my husband & I met a young woman and her mother who had just had surgery and was hoping to go home that same day; instead of spending the night in the hospital. I told her about this site. I was just wondering if that person is you and if so - how it's going. Either way be blessed in that new Hotbody (love the name). GOODBODY OUT

Who's Getting Banded in August???
GOODBODY replied to Tracyde730's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi band sisters, well i just did it. I was banded 8/13/08 at 10am by dr rantis at the kane center. It was a breeze. Don't get me wrong. I know i had surgery - i feel it, but nothing like i though it would be. I spent one night in the hospital and asked for pain med's, mostly to ward off any pain the day of surgery. The next morning i was walking a marthon around the nurses station - 11 times at once. I did that maybe four times, it helps get the gas out - both ways. I stayed on the clear liquid diet the day i came home and just started on full liquids. I had 4oz ensure high protein with no problem. So far so good. I'll keep you posted. Goodbody out -
I'm nervous also. My surgery is wed 8/13/08. I wasn't given any type of diet only told to drink the impact advanced recovery drink twice a day and eat normally. The drinks have 340 calories each. How can you not gain weight? Well either way we go forth on wed. Be blessed goodbody out

Who's Getting Banded in August???

hi guys, i'm from maywood, il; a suburb of chicago. Shout out to all you illinois bandsters. i've been tipping in on this site for over a year now and you folks are great! I have had so many of my questions answered. My surgery date is 8/13/08 12pm - finally - and it's taken so many years to get here. I'm excited, nervous, & yes scared. I have never been this concerned going into surgery before. This whole process has taken so long and been so un-nerving it keeps you on edge; and now i’m like "oh my god, i'm really going to do this" – my answer to self – “yes i am going to do this and this will give me the edge to do great things”. Dr. Peter rantis from the kane center at alexian brothers hospital in arlington heights, il. Is performing my surgery. Well just wanted to say hi and thanks to all of you who have had the courage to make a drastic change and share it with others as you are doing here. Please pray for me - like i said i'm a little nervous. I'll keep you posted as to my progress. goodbody, out
