  1. Thanks. It feels great to finally be able to do all the things that I wanted to do myself but couldn't. I've always enjoyed being the "handyman" around the house.
  2. We recently moved to a new apartment. Guess who was up on the ladder all day installing curtain rails, hanging curtains, photos etc. I can't remember the last time I was on something that is more than 20 cm above the ground 😂. I can't use my weight as an excuse to tell my wife that I can't climb on the ladder and hang stuff anymore. Skipping meals and hard labor during the past week seems to have paid off. I lost 4 kgs and now down to 89 Kg (from 150 kg before WLS)

    Ring Size?!

I finally got my wedding band replaced. I went down from size 12 to 9 and still it is a bit loose. I got a temporary tungsten ring for now and planning to get a silver or platinum one for our 10th wedding anniversary next year.
  4. A local online platform had a big sale on clothing recently. I was really frustrated that all the size M shirts were already sold out and only bigger sizes up to 5XL were available. I was complaining to my wife and then she started laughing and reminded me that is this not what I was complaining about last year 😂.
  5. Yay! I was avoiding the scale over the past few days and only checked this morning to find myself below 100 kg! I can't remember the last time I was at this weight but I'd say at least 20 years ago. What a pleasant and timely surprise. I turned 40 yesterday. So excited for my next birthday already 😀.
  6. I went to visit a potential preschool for my daughter with my wife last week. We were shown around and the teacher asked us to sit in one of the classes to explain their programs to us etc. They only had those small kindergarten chairs / stools. I asked for an adult chair and they didn't have any on that floor. I ended up setting on the kids chair and I was so worried that the poor chair was going to break. Well it didn't and it was OK when we left 😂. I wanted to ask my wife to take a photo of me sitting on that chair but the teacher was there haha. My daughter was so happy that I was sitting on the table and playing with her. Best feeling ever
  7. Hi. I know that we all had our different reasons for having WLS. I did it because I was fed up with yo-yo dieting. I was on-off Keto diet for over two years. I've lost some weight and gained it all back in the end. The longest I've stayed on diet was 5 months and that paid off really well (lost 25 kg). But then Covid-19 hit. I was about to go back to Keto diet in January 22 when my sister called to tell me she was going for the mini gastric bypass. That was the first time time I've heard of it. Fast forward three weeks and I'm on the plane flying to Egypt to have mine. My "breaking point" was finally going back to work in the office and having to remove the arm rests of my office chair because it somehow "shrunk" and was squeezing my thighs. How about you? What made you decide to have the surgery and what was the breaking point?
  8. I switched phones recently and had to transfer photos from my old phone to the new one. I was looking at old photos of me before the surgery and recent ones as well and I was really shocked. I can understand now why people keep telling me that I look different 😂. I also noticed a pattern in the old photos. I was always hiding behind someone or something. I think I was self-conscious about the way I looked in photos. Not anymore. I'm taking photos / selfies almost everyday to document my journey and the milestone I've achieved. It also time for our annual family photo session. So excited for that. I no longer have to hide behind the chair haha. How about you guys? How do you feel when you look at your old photos?
  9. All the best to you and I hope you reach you goal and get better. I can see you have lost quite a lot already. Keep it up (or shall I say down).
  10. I really like your analogy about picking the right tool for the job! I'm glad you did
  11. You are doing great I see. Almost there!
  12. You did the right thing! It didn't take me long to decide. My sister told about the surgery first week of January 2022, spoke to the doctor on Skype the week after and flew to Egypt and had it done end of the month. Best decision ever!
  13. I'm happy to hear that you had a wonderful time there. I can't wait for our next family trip
  14. I'm happy to hear that your are feeling better now! Congratulation on getting your life back
  15. I consider my decision to do the surgery to be my best decision in the last 20 years or so haha. I've talked to several friends who struggle with their weight about considering it as well.
  16. Congratulations. I can see you have reached your goal weight.
  17. All the best to you too. I found answers to a lot of my questions in this forum and I still do. Being around people who have been through the same really helps. Have you finally decided to have the surgery?
  18. I can see you have achieved your goal. Well done and I totally agree with you that it is never too late to make things right. I had the surgery before I turn 40 and I lost 50 kg and went below 100 kg for the first time in 20 years just in time for my 40th birthday. I'm now going to try all the things that I wanted to do but couldn't because of my weight
  19. I hope you are feeling better now.
  20. I had no gas pain and my doctor insisted that I get up and walk every now and then which I did. My brother set a timer and would wake me up to take a walk around the hospital ward every 30 mins or so which helped a lot. My sister who had her surgery three weeks before me didn't walk that much and had some gas pain. The doctor gave her some suppositories which helped a lot. Good luck and I hope all goes well with the surgery.
  21. I think you made the right choice for yourself and your kids. My kids were a big part of why I decided to do it. I wanted to be more active with them and do a lot of fun things that that see other dads do with their kids. My life changed for the better these past few months and I'm so glad that I went for it. Well done. I can see you have lost quite a lot and reached your goal.

    Serving Sizes

I will echo what @Arabesquesaid. Everyone is different and you should refer to your surgeon / dietitian. I'm 8 months out and still can't finish two scrambled egged (eggs + a splash of milk) for breakfast. No issues with hard-boiled eggs tho. I had the MGB.
  23. All the best and I hope all goes well with the surgery and recovery. Please keep us posted on your progress
