  1. The infamous 3 weeks stall! I think most of us over here had it. I'm glad yours broke so quick. My advice to you it to try not to stress so much about stalls and focus on following your program. Good luck
  2. Congrats! Have you reached your goal yet?
  3. Well done and good job keeping the weight in check. It is always good to hear from old-timers. I noticed you are below you goal weight. Was it always this way or does your weight fluctuate up and down?
  4. I noticed that immediately after a long stall, the weight loss was significant. As if my body was making up for the lost time. Good luck
  5. It is raining heavily almost everyday here and my trusty "big guy" umbrella broke. Then I remembered that I had a smaller foldable umbrella that fits nicely in my bag. I started using it without any issues. The last time I used it, it won't cover my whole body and I had to choose which side or my body to get wet haha. My body diameter has shrunken for sure.
  6. Here is another update. One year and 2 months out from MGB. On the left is a photo of me around 2013 that I found while organizing my laptop folders vs me this morning.
  7. I'm one year and 2 months out from MGB. I had my surgery in Egypt (self paid) end of January 2022. Starting weight 149 kg, current weight 78.8 kg (this morning). This forum has been a huge help for me since I did the surgery without any proper research which is not something that I'd usually do but I was really frustrated and fed up with trying to lose weight and not getting any lasting results. I'm not currently following any specific diet and I eat whatever I want (in very small quantities) - please don't tell my doctor haha. I eat my protein first, followed by vegetables and salad and then carbs if I'm still not full. I take 1/2 teaspoon of sugar with my morning coffee. Of course, I had to follow the program that was given to me after the surgery. I had a long stall for the past 3 months or so but luckily I'm losing again since I started fasting (the fasting month started 14 days ago). My current target is 70 kg (I'm 170 cm tall) and I can't wait to lose the last 9 kgs. I got a mountain bike when I was 120 kg and have been riding it around my house which helped with the weight loss. The longest distance for me was 8 km. It has been raining almost every night here and I've not been able to use the bike for almost 3 months or so.Hopefully the weather will improve soon. I'm working in a remote town and there is a small gym here. I'm to check it out next month. Here is a photo of me around 2013 that I found while organizing my laptop folders vs me this morning. Needless to say, life is getting better and better overall and I can't wait to try all the things that I've not been able to do because of my weight.
  8. I've not lost any significant weight over the past two months or so. The scale barely moved down from 83 kg but I noticed some changes on my measurements. The clothes that I bought three months ago are loose now but not to the point that I have to buy new ones. I didn't weigh myself for almost 10 days and you can imagine my excitement when I saw the number on the scale I can't remember the last time I was below 80 kg. Maybe in my early teens. I'm now 9 kg away from my target and I can't wait to shed those. Fasting certainly helped break the stall for me. I hope to lose 5 kg more in the remaining 20 days of the fasting month.
  9. Thanks and well done you too. I can't wait to see 70 kg on my scale haha. Hopefully very soon
  10. That is awesome. I think I'm still trapped in the obese person mentality. For instance, I was hesitant to climb on a ladder that is rated for 100 kg and eventually did. I was recently asked to participate in some of the games during my son's school sport day and I said maybe later. After seeing some of father who are around my weight or heavier doing it, I joined and we even got the first place in one of the games. My son was super happy. Guess who is going the 200m run in the next sports day 😁
  11. Thank you and good luck to you too!
  12. Thanks! Avoiding the scale sounds like a good thing to do at this stage. I think I'm going to keep the batteries of mine in the office. Otherwise I'll be weighing myself non-stop 🤣
  13. Thank you! I did a little celebratory dance and had to hob on the scale a few time to make sure the reading was correct haha
  14. I was rushing to get something from a nearby shop before they close and ended up running for like 150m or so. I managed to get there in time and I was not out of breath or nearly dying. I don't recall running in the past 20 years of my life. Time to get running shoes I guess 😃
  15. That is a victory for sure. I can totally relate
  16. I can totally relate. I've been on an extended stall for almost 3 months now. The weight loss is minimal to none at all. But I read somewhere that the rate of weight loss will decrease as you get closer to target. I noticed that I've started to lose weight again after I started fasting since last week. I hope it is not just water loss. I'm targeting to come out at least 5 kg less after the end of the fasting month. It can be frustrating but our bodies have their own way to adjust. Have you noticed any changes on the sizes? My measurements have gone down despite not losing weight.
  17. I was at the mall yesterday and saw them putting some shorts and T-shirts on display. One year ago I'd have taken a look and wished I could wear those. Not this time haha. I went in and got my first shorts in more than 30 years. It feels strange but awesome lol. I'm now wearing size 33" pants (52" before WLS) and M/L T-Shirt (5XL before WLS) which was a nice surprise. No longer going to the beach wearing jeans after this 😃.

    Very scared

I think it is normal to feel scared and worried. Try to relax and occupy yourself with things that you like and hopefully that will take your mind off the surgery. I had my surgery (mini gastric bypass) a year ago and thankfully everything went smoothly with no major complications. This was my first surgery so I went in without any prior experience. I watched some videos on YouTube to be prepared tho. They put a cannula in my arm and it was used for the anesthesia and the IVs afterwards. I was on pain killers for the first few days while in the hospital and the pain was generally tolerable. The only discomfort I felt was because of the drains and I felt much better after they were removed on the third day. Good luck and I hope all goes well with you. Think about your health and how you will look like after the WLS. That always helps

    New here

Good luck. Deciding to have the WLS in January 2022 was the best decision I've made in 40 years. I've paid the full cost of the WLS since my insurance doesn't cover such surgeries and I'd do again in a heartbeat. Money well spent.
  20. As part of the company HSE regulations we need to attend a training on confined space entry every two years. I did mine today. The training consists of two parts - a presentation followed by a demo where two employees need to demo the application of the rules etc. One gets to be the "authorized entrant" and go inside a 60 cm manhole and navigate the small space, retrieve something etc and the other guy waits outside and becomes the "standby person". I was always the standby person but not today. Previously they would assign me the role without asking. I volunteered to be the entrant and we got the highest score! Win win

    Length of liquid diet Post-op

I did the MGB WLS and I was put on clear liquids diet for a week. I was allowed to drink orange juice (without sugar), herbal teas, chicken soup without spices and reduced salt etc.
