I had the keto rash back when I was on the keto diet. My wife had it too. Very nasty but luckily it went away quickly after increasing my intake of carbs and greens and taking mineral supplements. I hope you start feeling better soon.

Mine certainly changed but for the better. We are now able to do many things that we couldn't do before. Finding and trying new fun activities, being able to join our kids while they play outdoors etc. has certainly brought us closer than ever. My wife was inspired to make some changes as well and she is now more active, eating healthier and going to the gym a few times a week.

Weirdest None-Scale-Victory - I'll go first

The HR ladies have been chasing me to change my company profile photo for some time now. I finally managed to take some shots at home over the weekend with the help from my wife (semi professional / hobbyist photographer here) and I was quite happy to see the difference. Featuring my first suit after WLS (Size S, slim fit 😃) and the same tie. Left is the old photo taken in 2020. The session was way shorter than before since I was not worried about finding the angle that doesn't make me look huge. The time it took me to edit these was also considerably shorter since I didn't have to photoshop certain parts "read a lot" of me that I didn't like. I can finally say I'm at peace with the way I look in photos! -

I find this more funny than weird. My iPhone thinks I'm a different person before and after the surgery it seems. Photos of me before and after the surgery were grouped separately 🤣 . I told my wife my iPhone is broken and I need to get the new iPhone 15 when it comes out lol. Then again a lot of people that I've not seen for a while don't recognize me these days. The next time I see one of those negative people around, I will continue to pretend I'm a different person. -

We celebrated our 10th wedding anniversary (time flies) last week and we snapped some photos before going out for lunch at a Brazilian steakhouse here in Kuala Lumpur. Right is me on our wedding day (I was around 130 kg then) and left is me now (74.5 kg). My wife said we should take new wedding photos for fun. -
and realizing that I still need to go to work 🤣

I couldn't agree more. Progress photos are a great booster when you are feeling frustrated or the scale has not been moving for a while. I used to take almost daily photos with every new outfit I try. -
Food Aversions After Surgery
omrhsn replied to MasonMoonGirl's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I have developed a few food aversions since my surgery 18 months ago. On top of the list are fries and scrambled eggs. I can't seem to be able digest it anymore and it will sit like a stone in my stomach. Other aversions include deep fried in general and specially chicken (I'm not too worried about this haha), cucumbers with skin on (strange much) and pizza. -

Here is a tip regarding coconut oil. If you can't tolerate the smell and taste of virgin coconut oil in your food (I didn't), try getting the refined coconut oil which is odorless. I still find it a tad bit sweeter than olive oil but that could just be me. -
I had the same experience like yours and the doctor said it is normal to have dark diarrhea. Glad to hear it stopped. Take care

Another Small Celebration!

That is great! I've always struggled to keep my Vitamin D level above minimum. I did Keto before and olive oil and coconut oil were considered as "healthy fats". I also used to take one 1 tablespoon of MCT oil with my bullet-proof coffee (once daily). Maybe do some research on that. -

Thanks for posting this. I really needed to see this post and I'm sure a lot of us who are just starting their weight loss journey will feel the same. You look great and I'm sure you feel great too.

How did you lose so much weight? How do you answer this question
omrhsn posted a topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
This week we have a lot of visitors from the head office (I work in a remote site) and I've not seen some of them for quite sometime. Some even before Covid hit. I was the star of this week with everyone talking about my weight loss and all kinds of praise and encouragement. Almost everyone asked me how did I lose the weight including the big bosses from the client and the contractors. I've only told my direct boss and the company managing director about my surgery. I took time-off to do it and told everyone else that I was going on vacation. It helped that we were still working from home while I was recovering so nobody noticed any change during that period. I chose not to tell my coworkers because I didn't want the unsolicited advice and opinions some might have about the WLS and also the follow-up questions. I learned that from when I was on KETO and made the mistake of telling a few coworkers about it. Suddenly I would have people come over to talk to me about it or advising against it etc. It was too much. One guy in particular would come in a for a weekly update on how much weight did I lose etc. Outside work, only my wife, my direct family and two of my closest friends know about my WLS. They have been very supportive and helped me throughout. I've been telling people that I was on KETO, then started a low-carb diet and exercising. I even have a photo of me on my maintain bike to prove it 😂. I would love to hear how did you respond to such questions / remarks? -
I can relate. I had my MGB 18 months ago and I've been and still struggling with head hunger too. I also felt the restriction has eased a lot after 1 year. Up to 12 months, I was not able to finish 1 hard boiled egg and half a toast. Now I can finish that and have a cup of coffee with it for breakfast. Sometimes, when I'm not too busy at work I find myself always wanting to snack on something. I've stated packing some salad from home to snack on whenever I feel like eating something. Chickpeas are another good option because it is high in protein and fiber and makes me full for a long time. Getting up and walking around the office, drinking some water / coffee also helps when I get the "urge" to eat. I hope this helps.

Thank you so much! My scale seems to like that number too because it has not moved since haha

I have to agree with the above comments. I have only started eating rice and noodles after the first year. My program allowed me to have carbs once a week. Even then it was not easy on my stomach specially the rice. I live in Malaysia where rice and noodle are staple food. If I don't bring my lunch from home and have to eat outside, it is mostly going to be one of these. I take a small portion of rice and load on vegetables and proteins if served separately. Noodles are usually mixed with the vegetable / protein so I can't do anything about it.

I'm 18 months post op and I've never missed being bigger and I don't think I will ever do. Once you start seeing the scale and non-scale victories after WLS, you won't miss anything before it.Good luck with your surgery and speedy recovery. The only items that I miss are my wedding suit and ring which I can no longer wear. I got a new suit for our 10th anniversary shoot and replaced my wedding ring with a much smaller one.

I'm half the man I used to be before WLS and NSVs on recent holiday
omrhsn posted a topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Just came back from a short trip to Langkawi Island here in Malaysia with my wife and kids. This is my wife and I second visit after going there in 2013 for our honeymoon (time flies!). We all had a great time there specially my kids. The weather was nice and the island was not very crowded. I got to try a lot of things that I've never dared or was able to do before WLS. The trip was full of NSVs so I wanted to share some of those with you guys. 1. I didn't need a seat belt extension this time and had plenty of room in my seat! I was able to use the food tray without it pushing against my belly. 2. I tried parasailing (parachute on a boat), banana boat and even jet skiing for the first time in my life 3. I joined my wife and kids in playing all the rides and games in the water theme park. I was always the guy standing out of the pool cheering while my wife and kids were having fun. Not this time. My son was so happy that daddy was with him on the big water slide. Some of the rides had a weight limit of 80 kg (they even have a scale to weigh people who are close to that weight - I was not asked to hop on the scale haha). Climbing the stairs to the ride starting point would have given me a heart attack before WLS let alone sliding down. 4. We took a speed boat for island hopping which was awesome. In one of the islands we had to climb the stairs up to a beautiful lake (Unlike my first visit I was fine and not out of breath while carrying my bag and my daughter). We rented pedal boats and circled around the lake for 30 mins which was awesome. 5. We took some photos at the resort that we stayed in during our honeymoon 10 years ago. Left photo was taken in August 2013 and right one three days ago. This was also my first time ever wearing shorts in public and being at ease with it. Guess who bought 4 more shorts haha. The cherry on the cake was weighing myself after returning home to find that I've lost half of my weight on surgery day. A total of 74.5 kg lost which is my wife and daughter's weight combined!
