Concern and fear
heddenturner replied to Danimonster's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had similar issues after my surgery. It ended up I had a massive ulcer caused by acid. It was the pain that was in my stomach that really helped determine this. They did an endoscopy and found it. Listen to your body and if you are co to Hong to experience a pain I would seek further advice. -

I’m about 8 weeks post op - and while the first few weeks were great, I have been struggling. The mornings are the worst. I feel icky every morning with nauseous tendencies. When I eat any kind of meet I throw it up. For the last week my stomach has been sore. I’m ready to feel normal again. Did anyone else experience anything like this. I am going to the doctor today so hopefully will have some answers. I just really want to hear from the others of you and see what your experience was. I struggle taking any pills too. -
Will I ever be able to eat normal size bites again? Strange question I know - I really didn’t expect to miss something so silly. I find I want to take a “real” bite. Does anyone else ever feel that way? I am only 7 weeks out and on more normal food now but I sure miss normal size bites.

Normal Bites?

When I went I first met to discuss surgery my BMI was 35.5. My family has a history of diabetes and high cholesterol. Heart complications from the diabetes have been an issue and it all seems to start about age 50. I’m 47. After much discussion with my nutritionist and my doctor - with a million times trying to lose weight my entire life - we decided on surgery to ensure these genetic issues would not be an issue. I had a vertebral artery dissection (spontaneous - had been is great health) at the age of 40. After the stroke I gained weight AGAIN and never could lose it. No matter what I did. Bypass because after an endoscopy it was discovered I have A typical reflux - I had NO idea! I felt nothing and my esophagus was burned badly. I also found out I had a hiatal hernia. So long long story short - there you go - :) -
My surgeon requested an endoscopy - thank goodness! This way we could make the best decision. I was very clear I don’t have a code reflux or heart burn and well…. After the endoscopy we found out I actually have A typical reflux (can’t feel it) and the sleeve would have been awful if I had done that. So I did bypass. I would have chosen the sleeve if I hadn’t known just because it seemed like a less invasive surgery. It wouldn’t have worked well and I would have been in pain. I highly recommend an endoscopy before any gastric surgery

Hello All, I am new and so happy to have discovered this group. I am almost 3 weeks post op now. I have lost about 12 pounds in these first weeks. I have energy now, but some days I do not. I am really struggling to get all the protein shakes in, the stomach medicine, the liquids and not drinking liquids while I am eating is rough. I am happy with my decision and the results so far. I have a fear it will just STOP. Thanks for the group and I look forward to being more active. - JT

Great idea! Do you have a preferred protein powder that that isn’t flavored?
