Hi all, I am still pre op - my date is April 2nd... I have accepted that a period of hair loss is heading my way and that's part of the parcel that comes with the sleeve. That said... is it just hair thinning or do some people have bald patches? Thank you Shelley

Is anyone's spouse against WLS?
Crinkles replied to MrsGreen's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It's hard when your other half is not on board with what you are doing. My hubby was deadset against it at first... he then realized that I was 100% serious - he was still against it though and had the mind set that its a dangerous way of cheating. I then made him watch a load of videos about the sleeve, what needs to be done before and after the surgery. Once he understood the work that actually goes alongside the sleeve, that the successful use of the tool involves hard work on my part - and if I dont try hard it wont make a difference - he slowly started to change his mind. He would still prefer that I not get the surgery but he understands my reasons for it and supports that, Getting him to this stage has been a very hard journey and is part of the reason I wont be telling anyone else about my WLS. I do not have the energy or brain space to be explaining myself 100 times to 100 different people. -
April 2022 Surgery Buddies

Had my call with the pre op nurse today! 22 days and counting. She gave me information about what will happen at my f2f pre op assessment and some more information about what happens on the day. I'll be told 24-48hrs before what time to be at the hospital for. My LRD starts on the 18th but im going to start it early.. too late to start it today so will be starting it tomorrow. The nerves have kicked in and I'm now really nervous - not so much about the operation itself but the first few days post op.... I kind of feel like I did when I was pregnant with my first. I know its going to hurt... but how much and just what that pain will be like will only be known once I'm experiencing it. xx -

Hi NeedtoLoseWeight Yay! Same date as me! I don't have a liquid diet prior to surgery mine is 2weeks of 1000 calories a day. I'm apprehensive about the post op 4 week liquid diet though!. Has your surgeon team given you an idea of what you can have liquid wise that will still fill you up? xx -

Hi KimmyKaye!! I look forward to following your journey! How are you feeling about it? x -
Hi everyone! I'm Shelley... 32 years old and mum of 4 mini me's! I have been contemplating surgery for a few years now and have finally made the decision to go ahead! I'm based in the UK but will be having my surgery privately as these surgeries are not easily available on the NHS. After my initial consultation last week my surgery has been booked for 12th April 22 with my pre op taking place on the 25th March! A very quick turnaround which is great for me as i'm a bag of nerves! I found this forum while google searching for other peoples experiences, thought I would join, say hello and share my journey.

Thank you all!! This is something I have been thinking about for many years. Like most others I have battled with my weight since childhood. It's quite a relief in a weird way that I am doing this. Happy to have found a site where everyone is supportive and going through/gone through the same thing.

Thank you both! SummerSeeker its nice to see others from the UK on here too! ah yes the pre op! hats off to you for doing 3 weeks! Mine is 2 and I am dreading it! Also worried about the 4 week liquid only diet too. I don't drink milk and I haven't found a milk substitute that I like either so that stage is going to be interesting!
