Has anyone used acai berry (pill form) to boost weight loss?
autparhar posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I recently ordered acai berry capsules to boost my weight loss. I just started it today, so has anyone tried this yet and had any results or have I fell victim once again to something that seems to good to be true? You are also supposed to use a colon cleanse with it for full benefits, but I have not received that yet. -
I have been banded for almost 8 months now (Realize band) and have lost 53 lbs. I have had 3 fills with a total of 6cc. I have good restriction and my last fill has been a couple of months ago. My question is: is it normal to not be able to comfortably drink anything even after 2-3 hrs. of eating. I have noticed this happening alot latley. Like for lunch today I only ate 2 scrambled eggs, and now 3 hrs. later I am still struggling to drink any water. I just get real uncomfortable and start gurgling and burping like it is just sitting in my chest. Do you think it is because my stomach (or pouch as I should say) is still completely full from lunch and there is no room for this water? Anybody else having this issue?

My doctor never gave me any specifics on the max. amount of carbs. and sugars although I was told to at least get 70 grams of protein a day. I realize if you get 70 grams of protein in chances are you are not getting alot of carbs and sugars anyways, BUT can anyone tell me about how many carbs and sugars that I don't need to go over just in case it is one of those days that it is hard to get my protein in? THANK YOU!

5 DAY POUCH TEST & Liquid Vitamins
autparhar replied to health4life's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hi! Thanks so much for posting this. I have not lost anything in the past week and a half. I have actually gained a pound. I know that doesn't sound bad, but for someone who is only almost 7 weeks out it can feel very discouraging. I have had my first fill of 2cc's and can not tell much difference in the restriction. This five day pouch test has given me a goal to set for myself and something to look forward to. I am going to start it today and will let you know in 5 days if I have gotten to know my pouch any better. Anybody else want to try this with me? -
I have BCBS/AL and was banded in December. I had to do the six months of dieting. BMI has to be >40, or >35 with co morbities such as diabetes, hypertension, etc. A psych eval. was required (ins. did not cover - $100) and I had to have a cardiac evaluation which included stress test, 24 hr. holtor monitor, and echocardiogram because I have a history of high blood pressure and mitral regurgitation. I guess it just depends on what additional evals. you will have to have depending on the individual and what kind of medical problems they have. Preadmission testing included chest x-ray, EKG, and labwork. If you have GERD, your doctor may require EGD. My insurance has covered everything except $100 psych fee, and I have to pay $800 because my physician has a physician's assistant that works with him. After all my paperwork was submitted to ins. co. it took about 1 week to get approved. Oh, and I had to pay $75 deductible for the one day surgery. I had my surgery at 3:30 p.m. and was on my way home around 9:30 p.m. that same day. Hope this helps and good luck!

What to eat on first day of real food??
autparhar replied to Momoof4's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was told to start off with soft proteins first, such as scrambled eggs or chicken salad (put chicken in food processor or chopper) made with low fat or fat free mayo. -
My first fill was also a breeze! They did have a hard time finding it at first, and actually I had to sit up, slighty leaned back for them to find it. I had no numbing med, and barely felt the stick. I hope subsuquent fills are this easy. I have had some restriction and have actually lost 3.5 lbs. since my fill on 1/21/09. But, I can tell this is not as much restriction as I would like. Surgery was on 12/18/08 and 24 lbs. gone so far!!!!!1

I was banded on December 22,2008
autparhar replied to Ms. Marie's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Ms. Marie, Hi! I went in yesterday for my fill and I too was nervous. But, there was nothing to it. Actually, pulling the bandaid off hurt 10 times worse than the actual needle. Just barely felt it which is a good thing. They tried to locate it with me laying down, but was having trouble so I had to sit up while they done it which was a liitle awkward. I had actually lost 22 lbs. and they said that I was doing great. I am so glad that I made the decision to have this done -

Hi! Congratulations on your success this far. I was banded on Dec. 19th and so far have lost 20 lbs. I am feeling pretty good with a good bit of energy. I started at 258. I have not really set a goal weight, because I want to be able to consider any weight loss a success. But, yes I would love to weigh around 140, and I know that it could at obtainable if I keep heading in the right direction. So far, I have learned that it is all about lifestyle change and I am still working on making those changes. Some days are harder than others. I have struggled with exercise and getting in my water. But I know that we can do this!!!!! -
December bandsters

Hi everybody! I was banded on 12-19 and so far have lost 18 lbs. My starting weight was 258. I was on full liquids for two weeks, mushies for 1 week and today was the first day of regular food. I had scrambled (2) eggs for breakfast, protein shake for lunch and tonight I was brave and had grilled chicken breast and Englis peas. I was kinda weary of the chicken, though. I was scared it would have a hard time going done, but actually I done just fine with it. My first fill is on 1/21. I am ready for it because I actually feel like maybe I can eat more than what I would like. I have also struggled with the exercise since I am a stay at home mom to three little boys, ages 5,2, and 13 months, although I do get alot of exercise running after them. I have ordered hip hop abs, but have not received it yet. I watched the infomercial and it looked like it be something that I would enjoy doing. I am glad I found this site so I could communicate with people that are going through the same things. -
I watched an infomercial on hip hop abs and ended up ordering because it looked like something I migh enjoy. Has anyone tried this and if so what kind of results did you see?

Just had surgery in Dec 08
autparhar replied to starting again's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I like you am hungry most of the time too. I had my surgery on Dec. 19th and will get my first fill on Jan.21st. As far as incision pain, the only problem I have had is I have a knot up under the incision where they put the port in. I am not sure if this is actually the port or maybe where it is healing around the port??????? I don't know. Is it easy for you to feel your port when you feel around? Is this the incision where your pain is coming from?
