ok first, i see some of u are having problems with feeling hungry...i saw my dr today for my 2 week post op...she said to make sure u have your protein shakes in between meals they help u stay full...so today i had one before breakfast, waited half an hour, then ate breakfast and could only eat 2 scrambled eggs and was full....then i waited an hour, and had another protein shake....stayed full till i ate lunch, then had another protein shake....then dinner and then shake...that seems to be helping cause my protein shakes have 25grams of protein each in them...now for the good news, i am down 20 pounds according to them...they are going by the last weight they had before my surgery, but i go by my weight the day of surgery so i am only down 16lbs i think it is....she also said even if u still feel hungry after your half to cup of food dont eat anymore u can stretch out the band and it wont work for u...get my first fill on feb 23....keep up the great work all

cherie, u need to eat more than 700 calories...your body thinks u are starving it so it has gone into starvation mode, so it is holding on to everything u eat and wont let u loose weight....i use a website called mydailyplate.com....i keep track of everything i eat there...it helps me know if i need more calories for the day or more protein....it is a good site...hope this helps hun...

I am doing ok right now...but having a hard time eating soup slowly seems to go down way to easy lol...but i have been making my self take at least half an hour to eat it. I am gonna weigh myself on wed to see how much i have lost so far. I also feel like they turned on this burp button i didnt have before lol. i am glad i found this site it helps to see and know that i am not the only one going threw all this..keep up the good work all:thumbup:

Where can i go online to see what bcbs is looking for as far as the 6 month diets is concerened. i know they have a website, but not sure where to look. thanks for all the help

My husband and I have just started the journey. Now i am nervous and wondering if it is even worth fighting the insurance company. We have BCBS of Illinois PPO. Some people have told us they didnt need the 6 months of diet, some say they did and everything was fine. Does it matter how much u weigh? My husband has diabities really bad, sleep apnea, and weighs almost 500lbs. We have been going to a Dr. Gupta. We went for a year, and just now started back for 6 months and have been told that his documentation might not be good enough. What are they looking for? Would love to hear from anyone who lives near Rockford, or Dekalb area. We are going threw Mercy Bariatric Center in Harvard.

hey connie, my husband and i live in kingston, illinois. it is about half an hour from rockford. we just started our journey with our consoltation yesterday in harvard with mercy bariatric center. We have BCBS of illinois and have heard they want 6 months documentation of a supervised diet. We have seen Dr. Gupta for a year from 2006-2007 and now are seeing him again and have heard he doesnt count...but then we heard that because my husband's diabetes and sleep apnea are so bad they may not need that...any advise...and can we come to the group?

Hi everyone, I am new to this site. My best friend had the lapband surgery in may and is doing great. Today my husband and I had our first consoltation for the surgery. He is gonna do the bypass as he is alot heavier, and has diabetes and needs to loose alot fast. I am gonna do the lapband. We have BCBS PPO of illinois, and have to see what we need to do to get approved. The doctor today told us we might have to do 6 months of weightloss with a doctor, which we have already done a whole year and now 6 months, but they dont know if it is gonna count. So i guess it will be a waiting game for a little bit till we find out what we need. At least this is the first start of our journey. Will keep you all posted. Wtg Julie i am very proud of u.:smile2:
