  1. No one on my Dr's office asked me what the goal weight is. I want to be healthy, I'm thinking 120-140. I was 120 after graduating from high school and after having both kids. I'm losing very slow (insulin resistance) I've heard after the "honeymoon" period its harder to loose. So I'm trying to keep my mind open. My surgeon said the average person losses 50 pounds, that would put me at a much healthier weight, but I would be chubby still.
  2. I think fitting back into clothes I hadn't worn in 2-3 years and have them even loose is a wonderful feeling!

    Elite sweet doughnuts.

Shoppgirl, I wish the freezer trick worked. Once in awhile I will put something in the freezer and forget about it. But knowing I can just stick it in the microwave for a few seconds is too convenient!.

    Elite sweet doughnuts.

Now I'm going to have to try these. I don't keep foods like this around, but for an occasional treat, might be great. The reason I don't keep them around is, even though its all protein, because of the sweet taste I might over eat them, at the expense of eating healthier stuff. Thats something I am working on.

    My First Binge :(

Sorry to hear about your "slip up," as you know and mentioned, try to be kinder to yourself, try not to beat yourself up. I go thru the same thing. While the bingeing has been much better under control, I have had the same thing happen since surgery. For me its always when my chronic pain flares up or I'm really tired from being up the night before in pain. I get depressed when I have to cancel my plans the next day because I'm in too much pain. Thats when the bingeing starts. I eat for energy, to make me feel better and because I'm down. What I've realized, for myself anyway, once I start eating carbs, like ice cream, I want more carbs. There is a whole physical/psychological explanation for this, I won't repeat it, because I'm sure we've all read it somewhere. But, you are right, it is a slippery slope. But you stopped it! Its not continuing on day after day, I think the best thing we can do for ourselves is to be gentle. I start planning my healthy diet for the next day to break the cycle. there was a time when I would binge one full day, then feel so ashamed, embarrassed, disgusted with myself, not to mention the food hang over I would have. So, the next day would be a smaller binge, then the 3rd day an even smaller one. Now, when it happens one day, I forgive myself but get right back on track the next day. Wishing you the best of luck, you've come this far and done great!
  8. I was told to take 3 Flintstone's children's vitamins every day. They taste very vitaminy but are chewable and come in cute figures!
  9. Its the small things that count! I don't look like I'm 12 months pregnant anymore. Good news the stall out that was happening, is finally over after 5 weeks! Finally dropped 3 more pounds, I'll take it. My hair is falling out like there is no tomorrow. Like a handful every time I brush. I know this is normal, I expect after the first 6 months it will lighten up. I'm at 4 months. Take all my vitamins. Even take a fish oil supplement because it works so good for my dogs fur, thought I'd try people fish oil. The jurys still out.
  10. Hi Everyone, I had the sleeve done in FEB 2022. I've lost a total of 30 lbs, which considering I was losing 1/2 pound a month before surgery. I'll take it! Figured I would be honest with myself, my calorie count has sneaked up from 800-1200, not every day, but most. I'm also eating carbs. I do not lose when doing carbs, they have to be few and far between. The good news is, Salads are on the menu again! That makes life so much easier and easier to avoid carbs. This is disappointing and I'm a bit surprised because I'm physically hungry most of the time! Thought I would share to see if anyone else has this problem. I need to clean my diet up, resume meditating everyday and throw out the carbs! And walk more. I have a new puppy I wasn't expecting and it has turned my world upside, but no more excuses! Good luck to all of you.
  11. Crisscat, it doesn't feel right does it? I'm glad you finally started losing again. Hang in there!
  12. At 3 weeks I wasn't eating any carbs at all! But I'm getting hungrier and hungrier as time goes on. Real hunger, not "head" hunger. I know some people have to deal with more than others. I started getting hungry ast end the end of my first 3 weeks. Added proteins and some vegs in, that helped. As I get farther away from surgery the hunger is getting worse. I'm trying to get an appt with my surgeon to talk about this again. Of course the type of Carb makes a big difference. But I noticed any carbs, even high quality ones with loads of fiber still slow me down on losing.

Just need to moan, whine and vent -- Sorry

I'm amazed your surgeon would take you off anything, thats usually the PCP that does that. I was never on a diuretic, probably could be. My b/p actually was elevated for a couple of months after surgery. So, I'm glad no one took me off b/p meds until now.
  14. I've had to completely go off all my b/p meds. At first I stopped or weaned off the night dose, now the day time dose. I was getting lightheaded and almost fainted upon standing up. B/p now is usually 120/78. I'm excited!
  15. Can't wait to wear medium again comfortably. Large is getting baggy!

    Blah...my first stall...

I only weigh once a week at most, sometimes every two weeks. I would drive myself nuts weighing every day, because a salty meal and I can gain 5 pounds! I learned not to do this to myself awhile back. Everyone is different, some people can handle the normal fluctuations.

Just need to moan, whine and vent -- Sorry

So sorry to hear about your struggles since surgery, thats a lot to deal with. For the constipation, you may need to add stool softener's with the fiber and water. I'm speaking from personal notes. I take a ton of fiber and have always been a big water drinker, but the stools were so hard it was a challenge to pass it. So the softeners have solved that problem and life has been better since. Good luck to you!
  18. Sleevediva, you are doing wonderful! Congrats. My surgeon and dietician recommend just having carbs twice a week, When I say carbs I mostly mean bread, potatoes, pasta. I can eat fruit in small quantities and can even have a yam here and there. The twice a week gives me an out when I go to a restaurant, I can have what everyone else is eating and not feel left out. Its keeping track of the twice a week that gets tricky. Need to write it down on my calendar so I don't play games like "my twice a week starts today," and I say that everyday. ugh.
  19. Thank you for the support! I appreciate the ideas and support. I think what I'm really whining about is that have to get rid of carbs, when I'm doing everything else right! I do walk as much as my body allows, I have physical issues which keep me from doing 3 miles a day like I'd like to. Still I'm eating very little compared to the average person. I walk everyday, plus weights, yoga, etc. I eat a small amount of carbs and throws me into non keto and I stall. I guess my body doesn't care about all this, it is what it is! So I've gotten back into just healthy eating, lots of protein!

    Calories per day

I track everything I eat on MYPlate because it keeps me honest. I'm almost 4 months out and average 800-1200 calories a day. I've lost 30 lbs so far, this isn't much but before surgery was losing 1/2 pound a month, so not complaining!
  21. I'm reading that some people can only eat 3-4 bites! Thats wonderful. Sometimes I wonder, is this working for me, I can eat more than that. I'm trying to reassess and slow it down more and get in touch with my full factor. I can drink a full 8 oz of water without any problem. I still deal with hunger pains, but they are better than normal, some days I'm only eating 800 calories a day, I've noticed if I don't feel hunger pains at least a little, I'm not losing.
  22. Wow, my surgery was feb 23, 22. I'm down 20 lbs. Before surgery I was losing 1/2 pound a month, so I shouldn't be surprised, I'm very insulin resistant. I can eat like 1/2 a sandwich, or 1/2 a burrito. I can eat more than a few bites. Have not had any feeling of throwing up, nausea or anything like it. Sometimes I wonder if the surgery is working as good for me as others. I can drink a whole cup of tea in the morning, but I sip it slowly. I have fallen off the wagon twice since surgery and had carbs, that stales me out for 2-3 weeks. eating out is a challenge, since we can't have salads yet. Having said that, I am working on emotional eating. This is probably my biggest issue. I can eat perfectly all week, then overdo it one day! It's better than it used to be, but there's still room for improvement. congrats to you that have lost so much! I'm excited for you. I'm working on the next 20 pounds!
  23. Thanks to whomever recommended The Bariatric Mindset book by Kristin Lloyd, it is a great book and just what I needed! I'm journaling again, back into daily meditation (this works best for myself to help with emotional eating.) It has some great tools that I've heard of before or read about or have even done before but have forgotten to include them in my toolbox. There's knowing and there's doing.

    Slow Losers Club…..officially *sigh*

I'm going back to logging everything I eat, plus the exercise I do. I walk as much as my body will allow, if anything I overdo more than under do. I have medical issues and constantly play the don't over do it it game! But, I also fall off the eating wagon from time to time, I stall out completely. These people who say they can eat whatever they want and still lose, I'm happy for them, but I'm not one of them. Have to stop whining about it and stick to the plan of protein and vegs, period.
  25. Thanks for the honesty ! Theresa lot to be said for tracking then food, the calories and the type of food you eat! I can stay below 1000 calories a day, but if those calories have any sugar or bread in them, I stall out for a week or two. I'm about 2 months out of the surgery. Sometimes I think, maybe it isn't working on me like everyone else. I'm certainly not in the "I can eat whatever I want and still lose weight." I know I do best on keto diets, but that's so hard to stick to! If I think I will still lose by eating only 1/2 of a sandwich and still sticking to under1000 calories a day, it doesn't work that way for me. The bread stops the weight lost. Not being able to eat salads right now (my surgeon says no raw vegs for 6 months) its really challenging eating out and staying away from any carbs. I admire people who can do it. I've noticed, the further away from the surgery, the more my hunger comes back. I'm only 2months out! Is anyone else dealing with this? At the same time, if I'm not hungry, at least a little bit, I'm not losing weight!
