April Bunnies '09- Let's share: How are you doing?
JUSTTIRED replied to Band_Groupie's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I'm ashamed to post but here goes. 1. WEIGHT- high 302 (aug 08) surgery 256 today 250 2. FILLS-1 1.5 in a 9cc ap standard band 3. RESTRICTION- very little, a few "stuck" times but no PB or sliming. Able to eat what I want and am full for 3-4 hours most of the time but, am able to eat more that I should at 1 time. 4. RULES- Trying to stick to 1200 cal per day(need to be more faithful at tracking exact calories), and not drinking after eating for 1/2 hour. Probably not drinking enough Water each day..working on that. 5. ANYTHING ELSE- I'm frustrated, I was able to lose 45 lbs on my own prior to surgery and now eating the same "diet" as pre surgery and not losing...hoping that my next fill on June 25 will help some. <sigh> Just Tired -

I'm a fan of the Daily Plate. I like that you can create meals that you eat on a regular basis. Good luck! Just Tired -

I feel like a broken record here, but, am frustrated. Last week I thought I had turned the corner and got my fill and was starting to see a slow amount of loss. Now, this week the 2 lbs I lost are back on. I'm trying really hard to be aware of what I'm eating, I will admit though that I have not tracked on Daily Plate as faithfully as I did pre band. So, guess I will start tracking again, and see if I am eating too much or too little. I seriouslly think that I went into major starvation mode during the pre/post op diets and my body is very stubborn now to let go of any lbs. Guess we all knew this was a "process" and that it wouldn't happen over night but, geeez can't the scale start to go down just a little. Anyone else feeling this frustration. My concern if it is this hard to get enough calories in when I don't have a ton of restriction, how am I going to manage not going into starvation mode when I have full restriction. Does the body finally reset and start to to lose at a lower amount of calories after it accepts the new norm? Sorry rambling away here. Hope everyone is having much better success than I. Anyone use Obesity Law & Advocacy Center?

My Drs' office sent my case to them when I got my original denial. It only took 3 weeks and I was approved. They were more than fantastic to work with and I praise God for them. The work they do for us is priceless. God bless them Just Tired -
Ok, I was ready for something that made me think I was eating "real" food. So while on the chat the other day someone mentioned quiche. OH Lightbulb moment. I made crustless Quiche sunday with spinach, cheese, sautaaued mushrooms and ground turkey. Wow was that wonderful. Wouldn't have it for the 1st week of mushies but now its wonderful. You could make it with anything and leave out the ground turkey if you are afraid of it. But yummmooo Just Tired

Anyone else scheduled for April 16th?
JUSTTIRED replied to scoobydoo's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hi, Still hanging in there, went for my 2 week follow up with Dr and he saw me for a total of 2 min's. Guess he thought I was doing great....and I am really. Trying not to be discouraged that my body had gone into starvation mode and on less than 800 cal per day I am gaining and losing the same 2 lbs. I'm on mushies now and am going to try to up the calorie count to see if I can start losing again. God's blessings to all the April bandsters Just Tired -
More prayers lifted up for you. Hoping you are feeling better quickly and you get to get back on the road for success. Just tired

HI, Have internet just for a bit. Thought I would let everyone know I'm doing great. Had surgery on Thur as planned and it went great. I only took one dose of the liquid vicoden. It made me unable to sleep so have been doing ok with no pain meds. The gas pains have almost all gone and I'm doing ok, but my belly is quite gurglely :tt1: Planning on going to Church on Sunday and work on Monday. Keep the faith!! Just Tired -

Anyone else scheduled for April 16th?
JUSTTIRED replied to scoobydoo's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I had BC/BS of IL and they are notorious for dening folks the 1st time through, they are very picky about the paperwork. So my drs office works with the great folks at Obesity law and advocasy, and they fight the appeal. They worth with Allergan. So God has blessed me with the right folks in the right time, and I am stepping through His open door. Just Tired -

Hi all, I'm also from IL about 2 hours south of Chicago near I-55. I will be banded at the Kenall Pointe Surgicenter by Dr. Woodard who is affiliated with DayOne Health. My surgery is scheduled for April 16, 2009. I'm really excited and am confident that this is exactly the best choice for me. God bless us all. JustTired -

Dear Ex Army I too have BC/BS of IL...it has been a nightmare. I did the 6 month diet/ saw my pcp faithfully he filled out the form, I forwarded to my Surgeons office, for the file there. Had my psych eval and once was done with nutrition appt was submitted. Wel it was decline in 1 day. Because my pcp didn't include enough detail in the 6 month appts and they didn't like the format of my 5 yr weight history. So my surgeons office works with Obesity Law and they now are fighting my appeal. When they reviewed my paper work they found all kinds of red flags on my psych eval...lots of detail way too much and too many howevers and in the event of's. (it was like she was covering her butt so that in the event I went wacko after surgery I could say she said I was fine to have surgery) So my advise is be very careful before you submit for the 1st time. Make sure ever i is dotted and every t is crossed and that all paperwork is in order before you get denied...because then you will be in appeall for a long time. Work with your surgeons office but follow behind them and make sure all is in order. Best of luck, hope your story doesn't turn out like mine did. My employer will be changing Insurance carriers May 1, 2009 so if my appeal doesnt' get done I'm screwed. Just Tired

Guess they just didn't think there was enough on the form (that my surgeon provided). My pcp didn't always fill it out completely...so my drs office printed out the drs dictation for each visit and it had a lot more detail in it. Soooooo..lesson for all those a/b to submit..make sure you pcp using lots of detail regarding your "diet" and his instructions for your weight loss. Also my pcp until 2007 only used a graph chart in front flap of chart to track vitals...it does look very jr high...and not professional (ie not on letterhead) so that too is an issue. I haven't heard from obesity law today...i'm trying to be patient. just going to keep praying! Good luck to everyone else..and god bless us one and all just tired

Just an update....I was submitted on Monday the 2, denied on the 3rd...so my drs office is submitting all my info to Obesity Law on Friday and are going to have them fight my appeal. Anyone else have experience with Obesity law I understand they are funded by Alergan. BTW my denial was for lack of detail on the 6 month visits to my pcp and unacceptable documentation for my weight history(my drs office used paper charting till 2007). Hope that this plan works. Just Tired
