  1. Tally, I sent you a private message - we have got to compare notes!! I'm planning on taking 1 week off just to be sure I"m rested and ready to come back. I've heard you only need 3 days, but since I have the sick time banked, figured I should use it.

    The one thing

I'd like to ski the black diamond runs - right now I get too tired also, wear sleeveless blouses in the summer wear skirts without having to wear pantyhose or a split slip underneath wear bermuda shorts to work on Fridays in the summer like some of the other ladies do
  3. Hello ladies (do we have any guys on this Dr. K. group??) Birthday was very fun. For those of you in Denver, Moondance Botanicals on Corona and 6th does wonderful girls night out spa parties, either foot spa or facials. We did a herbal foot soak, foot scrub, foot mask, then foot massage. Lots of fun! Mal, I"m so sorry about your son's friend - I sent you a private message. Denise and Dee, you both look awesome. So inspiring to see your hard work paying off. Heather, I can't wait to be you and have scrubs that are too big. Right now my large's are too tight, and even the XL do not have much extra room in them. I get so hot and sweaty at work, can't wait to get this weight off and move around more easily. My consult with Dr. K is one week from today. I can hardly wait to get going already!!!!
  4. boy, I second that one.....love is a good thing but, no date for me tonight...am spending my birthday with my girlfriends and my daughter who is 19, we're having a foot spa party!
  5. Hi Tally,

That is unbelievable, my consult is also Aug. 8th! I'm guessing yours is by phone?? I don't have a surgery time yet. They were nice enough to give me a date, since I anticipate changing jobs soon, and wanted to use up my sick time that does not get paid out. I'm hoping on the 8th that I will also get my time, once he approves doing the surgery on me. Nope, I have not cut out carbs yet. Was I supposed to? If you want to email me directly, I'm at anthurium06@msn.com

  6. How neat. I went to Dr. Snyder's presentation this month. He is awesome, and I definitely would consider him, except I am self pay and he was a bit pricey for me. How are you doing???? Would you like to meet for coffee sometime?

  7. adorkable, good luck with your gallbladder removal. I had mine done years ago, and felt sooo much better afterward! Brandy, would love to do lunch. Sent you an e-mail. Munchkin, I love the story about your patient getting run over. OMG. I work as a RN too and sometimes the stuff that happens is so amazing. Is the picnic just for Dr. K's previous patients? What a neat idea. Mini, I tried to have dinner at the Cheesecake factory last night with a friend, and the line was literally out the door, so we skipped it. I guess yesterday was "national cheesecake day" so they must have had some special going. My birthday is today - 48...grrrrr. I had been feeling kind of down about it, but since my surgery is looming in the near future I"m feeling considerably happier about the days ahead. Have a great day everybody. Love reading all the LBT posts.
  8. Tracy & Jill, Sending many positive thoughts your way. Please post when you can and tell us EVERYTHING you can remember about the surgery process. Go girls!!!!!!!!

Christiana, I'm going to Dr. Kirshenbaum in Aurora. How about you?
  10. cute baby pix, what a super smile! Dee, thanks for the daily diet info. Wow, no wonder you have lost so much - what an inspiration.
  11. Dee, If it wouldn't be too time consuming, would you mind posting what your breakfast, lunch and dinner is on an average day? I'm VERY curious about what amounts/foods people actually eat once they are on solids. Thanks again - so great to have this resource~! Keep up the super work with your exercise- that is awesome
  12. Dee, WOW & HOLY COW..I am soooo impressed by your ticker - 90 lbs down since January 29? That is unbelievable. Please tell me how you got such great results. Are you exercising like a demon?

    Fever? Nose Bleed?

No, this is not normal. Fever is a sign of infection when it happens after surgery. Take some liquid Tylenol tonight and call your MD in the morning.

    New Bandster

This is very common from any kind of laporoscopic surgery due to the gas they use to inflate your abdomen. Try alternating between a heating pad and ice pack where it hurts on your shoulder. It will go away!

Christina, I'm scheduled for 9/3 also! Having it done here in Colorado. Yeah for us!!! We should compare notes and anxiety - ha, as time draws closer.
  17. Deb, I'm glad your pup is doing better! Brandy, Isn't technology great? Our generation is so lucky to have so many options to keep us lovely and nearly wrinkle free as we age. My mom had a face lift at 55 and still looks fab at 82. I can hardly wait for my MD consult. I think I have read every article on the net about LB and could practically do the surgery myself after watching all the youtube stuff. Don't worry, I'll still pay to have it professionally done! :wink2:
  18. Hi Everybody, Mal, I'm glad that boy is doing better. What an amzing story. Lotza, hang in there. You just had anesthesia, and that alone can cause depression. It will take a while for it to all work out of your system. Mini, gosh, sounds like right before your 1st fill is a tough time. I love Brandy's idea about mixing up the calorie count each day to keep your metabolism going. Dee, belated happy birthday. Hope it was fun. Mine is Thursday - 48, i keep telling myself at least I will be in great shape by the time I'm 50!

    Can't stop baking

I do the same thing when I am starting a diet...have one last "x" before the fun stops. I suppose I'll have some pasta from Macaroni Grill and maybe a few Hooters wings. Really, at this point I am so excited about the upcoming surgery that I'm happy to do whatever the doc tells me about the pre op diet. Good luck to you!
  20. Brandy, Can you explain what a pouch test is, and when it is used? I haven't heard of that before. Thanks so much.
  21. :Banane34:Hi There, I'm having surgery 9/3, and would love a mentor who also had surgery from Dr. Kirshenbaum in Aurora, Colorado. I'd like to exchange e-mails and ask the zillion questions about what everything is going to be like, and what I should and should no do. Thanks so much!!!
  22. Dionna, That is great that you have such positive support. I'm sure that will be a big help to you. Everybody, Will I be ok by myself after having surgery? I can get a ride home from the surgery center, but do I need to have a friend stay overnight with me?
  23. Mal, glad to hear he is on his way to Craig. From what you said, it sounds like what they call an "incomplete" which is very good in terms of chances for healing. Everybody, thanks for your advice on keeping the surgery confidential. Deb, you are right, strong support is the only thing I want during this time.
  24. Thanks everyone for your comments. It makes me feel better to know that the rest of you have the same perspective about keeping this confidential. Good luck all, I am so glad that we have each other for support!
  25. Mal, Since you're in Colorado, I would recommend a referral to Craig Hospital in Englewood. They are the #1 hospital nationwide for spinal cord injury.
