Snowgator replied to Shesha's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
Adork, your new glasses are completely fab! go girl Bahot, great deal on your dresses, we did the same thing senior year for my daughter, got the dresses long before the date I am starting to feel slightly human again today. Am going to take a shower and head outdoors for a little walk. I had some thin oatmeal and apple juice this morning. Didn't even take any tylenol. Think I might finally be turning the corner! yeah! -

Hi Everybody, On the pill issue, Dr. k did tell me that capsules were ok, but all pills must be crushed. i'm still feeling icky - no energy, and some pain. The protein drinks that I usually like just did not taste good. I'm going to try some grits this morning. I have a feeling like mild heartburn all the time, as if I swallowed a small piece of ice. Tell me this will all go away soon!!! -

Hi All, Ack, the last 24 hours has not been so fun. With the anesthesia wearing off I'm having more pain, still sleepy a lot too. Am trying to only take tylenol so I can stay awake for more than 2 hours at a time. had some tomato soup today - what a treat! -

Hi everybody, Thanks again for your good wishes, I sailed through the surgery just fine. I did have a hernia, so Dr.K fixed it. I was having some pain and was nausated, so they gave me drugs for that. The surgery was at 1, and I think we left for home at 4:30. It was fun that when I was in the pre-op area, Deb was in the post-op area and we could see each other. They even let me go over thre for a few minutes to chat. You can tell the RN's love Dr. K! Thanks for saving me a seat on the losers bench! -

Thanks for all the good wishes, everybody! I will be happy to take a seat on the losers bench with you all. I taught the class this morning, came home took off my makeup, and have been puttering about for the last hour. My neighbor is going to drive me to the surgery center at 11. Can I whine that I am thirsty and hungry already? LOL! Later gators.....I'll be back when I'm an official band member! -
Hello from Florida Gator Country
Snowgator replied to Gregall's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Welcome Florida Gator!!! I am also a gator, and am getting banded today. In fact, I am bringing my stuffed alligator to use as a pillow in the car on the way home. Best of luck to you, let me know if I can help at all. It's great...to be...a FLORIDA GATOR! -
Happy Band-Day! Thanks for posting right away. You are the September Samurai leader for the rest of us. I am tomorrow! Hope you are feeling great soon.

Thanks Mini, I will post tomorrow night if I can. I'm teaching a class as a guest lecturer tomorrow at 8 am, then have to be at the surgery center at 11:30. I could have rescheduled the class, but thought it would be a pleasant diversion. I can have clear liquids until 9:00 a.m.,, so that will be a help. YIKES! -
Surgery Tomorrow and Really Nervous! Have your pre-surgery wishes been granted?
Snowgator replied to TrishaLight's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi, my surgery is tomorrow too. i don't feel nervous, but then again I'm not sleeping yet! As for surgery, it is no biggie. You might feel groggy when you wake up, but you will be well medicated for pain. You won't remember anything from when they wheel you in until it is all over. Love that part! Good luck, and let me know how you do, ok? -
Tomorrow cannot come soon enough!!!
Snowgator replied to rodriguezequal's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I don't think there is much you can do tonight, so try and relax. the preop diet is more about carb control to shrink the liver than calorie reduction. Tomorrow is my band day, too! let me know how your surgery goes, oK? yeah for us!!! -

Lifesaver, no wonder you are so buff! I didn't know you did bfl before. That program is not for sissies! Go girls! You and prty are going to be the fitness queens of the bandsters. Deb, I'm glad your doggie is doing okay. You must have been so nervous during it all. Lap, I love your fishy photo. How cool! I have an empty aquarium and have been thinking of setting it up again. Do you have saltwater or freshwater fish? Green and Lifesaver, thanks for the tip on the designer whey. I will give that a try. Well, my surgery is TOMORROW! I went to the support group meeting tonight at Dr. K's office, and it was great to meet more of his patients. I also finally got to meet Tally, who also is having her surgery tomorrow. So, wish me luck! -

LOL..I used to work in the haunted mansion - she looks like one of the reflections on the heads in the crystal ball! So, for the next challenge, please put me down for 8 lbs. I'll be in "bandster hell" at that time, so am being cautiously optimistic. -
Thanks for your note - ren & stimpy are the best, I have two chihuahas, one named ren and the other raisin.

Oh, one more question. I did find the slimfast low carb at walmart, 4 cans for $6.00, but realize if I'm going to be doing this long term, the pre made cans are not very economical. So, what protein powder do you all like best? I looked on another post, and it seems the GNC whey protein is popular. Dr. K seems to stress a low carb diet long term, so I'd like one with low cal, high protein, and low carb. thanks! -

Rene, A 14er? You amaze me - that is fantastic! At this point I can't imagine even driving up a 14er.... how is your shoulder doing from the biking spill? Lap, thanks for sharing those old photos. Wow, what progress everyone has made. So encouraging! Can somebody teach me how to "multi quote"? I tried clicking on that button, but nothing seems to happen when I go to reply. It is storming in Denver. So much for my plans to cook out on the grill! Hmmm...must find a way to grill eggplant indoors. -

I'm sure no tatt expert since I don't have one, but I do watch Miami Ink...lol.. Anyhow, if you ever had to get a new port, or your port flipped or something like that, would it mess up your artwork? -
Dr. Kirshenbaum in Aurora, Colorado is $9950 for everything. Fills are free for the first 3 months, then $15 after that.

Lap, I am watching the weather in Florida constantly. I have two band buddies, Tally in Tallahassee and Christiana in Tampa who are getting their surgery done by Dr. K the same day as me. Am sure hoping they make it out ok. And, i think your idea of a November get together would be great! Can we come up and jump on the bed? lol... Deb, how is Tucker doing today? Hope he does better over the weekend. What you said sure is right, men just do NOT get it at all. That is why I"m not telling my ex. Marcy, boy aren't we all tired of hearing that same song and dance from out docs. Like we need to hear it over and over! Feel better soon. Munch, how scary. That class sounded like a fun idea, sorry you did not feel well. Mini, thanks for the support. You're right, I'm sure she will be delighted when I'm the one to suggest going skiing or on a hike, etc. Bahot, happy birthday! I'm glad you got some fun goodies. Cute butterfly. I got my post-op meds today. Tomorrow am going to get a few more things for my last couple days of low carb, and also jello, etc. for the clears phase. Denver seems so quiet now without the DNC hoopla. Have a great holiday weekend everyone. If you want to catch a movie, my daughter and I saw "Barcelona" today, that was great, a typical Woody Allen film! -

Thanks, Prty. You are right, I hadn't thought that maybe she was concerned about the risks of the surgery, etc. And everybody does love their momma just as she is. I do have support. My neighbor is dropping me off for the procedure. My friend who is a RN is picking me up and taking me home. My daughter has class in Boulder, but will be home that evening to stay overnight with me. So, I am lucky to have lots friends and my daughter to pitch in and be there for me. I was just wanting the "yeah mom, the day is almost here!" that I did not get. But I guess that is what my band buddies are for. Thank you all.
