  1. Liquidbluegal, I have BCBS of NJ and I hope my approval goes as smoothly as yours did. I have to do 6 months monitored by my PCP, just finished month 3, had my surgical consult July 23rd which consisted of the surgeon, the nutritionist, and the psych eval. At that appointment they scheduled my surgery for November 24th (november being month 6 lol). I have two tests to be done at the gastro docs, I have the consult set up for September 29th and then I'll set up the appt for the actual tests when I'm there. I wish they could just do them at my first appt but they have to have a "consult" first grrr!!! I have to attend two support meetings prior to surgery and one after. I have done the July support meeting and I'll do the September one as well (I'll be away during the August one) The surgeon is the same as with you, they do not send the paperwork in until you are done with everything. I was glad to see you were approved within a week because I will not have my 6 months of monitored notes from my PCP until early November and surgery is scheduled for the 24th of November. I guess the surgeon and staff know what they are doing.

NJ local group new member introduction

I'm in West Long Branch so not that far from you guys. Would love to get together with you all but I'm leaving for the Outer Banks on Saturday (woohoo I can't wait lol). I have a scheduled surgery date of November 24th and I am so looking forward to it. I'm very excited but yet nervous as well. It's funny, I had my gallbladder out like 13 years ago and didn't think twice about going in for surgery but this time is a little different. I was widowed 6 1/2 years ago so I'm the only parent my kids have (they are 15 and 13) so of course I can't help but think "what if......" I believe everythiing will go fine but it's still in the back of my mind. I enjoy coming on and reading all the positive support you get on this site and even some negative comments, it all is very informative. November cannot come soon enough

Hello everyone. I'm new here but I have enjoyed reading all the posts, lots of information. I'm from NJ as well, monmouth county. I have gone for my surgical consult for the lap bad and am in the middle of my 6 month monitoring by my PCP. My surgery date is scheduled for November 24th, woohoo!! My surgeon is Dr. Borao, anyone else use him? I'm so excited yet nervous as well. I so look forward to being comfortable in my own skin.
  11. Hi I'm Jackie and I'm from New Jersey. I researched both gastric bypass and the lap band surgery about five years ago but it just wasn't the right time for me. I never stopped looking into it and tried to get as much info as I possibly could over the years. Well I've decided now is the time. I had my surgical consult and I have a scheduled surgery date of November 24th. I have to wait until then because my insurance requires 6 months monitored "diet" by my regular doc, November is month 6. I'm both excited and nervous. This site has been very helpful, I love hearing from others who have had it done and suggestions they give to people like me who are on our way. Good luck to all. If anyone is from Jersey I would love to hear from you. :wink2:

Has anyone from NJ used Dr. Borao with surgery being at Monmouth Medical, Long Branch?

    new here from jersey

Hello all. I'm also from NJ, monmouth county. I have gone for my surgical consult and am scheduled for surgery November 24th. Sooo excited. My sugeon is Dr. Borao, had heard so many wonderful things about him and his staff prior to going for my consult. I went for my surgical consult and met with him, the nutritionist and the psychologist. My insurance requires that I have 6 months of monitored "dieting" through my regulr doc so November is month six. So how have you guys all made out? After reading it seems you have all had your surgery already.

    new from new jersey

Rose I totally understand how you feel. I have battled my weight basically my entire life. I have chosen the lap-band surgery after over five years of researching and thinking about it. It was not a flip decision but rather a very well thought out one. I am taking charge of my life. I am happy I have finally made the decision and look forward to my surgery on November 24th. You can't worry about what others say, if you feel this is what will give you control then I say go for it. I am also from NJ (monmouth county).
