NoShrinkingViolet..... I feel the same way, can't really narrow it down to just one emotion. I went to a support meeting last night and you walk away with a "high" from seeing how happy the people are that have done their surgery and are on their way to a new life...... can't wait to be one of them.

My surgery is scheduled for Monday November 24th. I work a desk job but it can be demanding as well. I am planning a two week recovery. Told my boss if I'm feeling up to it I'll sneak in here and there the second week but not to expect me lol. I figure by Monday December 8th I should be good to go for work. I'll work a couple weeks then I have a week off at Christmas. I work in a tax office so I should be all healed and feeling good by the time our really busy tax season starts in January. :tongue2:

Tonice-Luckily my two kids are a little older, 13 and 15. If I'm not up to it they can go with my sister or stay with me. They understand. Wow we are doing this, it's getting so close, woohoo!!! Oh where in Jersey are you? Jmegirl-thanks for the advice on day 3, good to know. If I go to my moms then I can always sneak away into her room. I come from a large family so the house will be packed.

OMG I am so glad to hear that. I have read so many posts about how much it hurts to get a fill.

Approved!! I have my lapband date!!
Jaculin412 replied to robtyty's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Congrats!!! I have BC/BS of NJ and I hope they approve me as fast as they did you..... Good luck!! -
Tonice, I totally understand what you're saying. I'm scheduled for surgery the Monday before Thanksgiving (11/24). I worry about what to eat for the 3-5 weeks post op, still have to get to the nutrition store and pick up some of the protein shakes and powders so I can figure out what I like and stock up before surgery. Don't think I'll be interested in eating on Thanksgiving since I'll only be 3 days out at that point. Thanksgiving is at my moms too, if I don't feel up to going then I'll hang home, what's missing one Thanksgiving, just think how we'll be by next Thanksgiving :rolleyes2: wooohooo we are on our way!!! when ru scheduled?

Has Anyone Made a Love Connection?
Jaculin412 replied to livtobeblessed's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
That's a good question Gina. Like you I am a single mom of two, I was widowed almost 7 years ago and haven't dated by choice. As my kids get older (they are now 13 & 15) I am thinking it might be time to start. We'll see. I'd be interested to see what kind of responses you get to this question. :girl_hug: <?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /><o:p></o:p> <o:p> </o:p> -
Anyone Being Banded in November???
Jaculin412 replied to Lcubed's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Me toooooo..... I'm scheduled for November 24th and I cannot wait. Papers don't get sent in for insurance approval until early November so hopefully that comes back quickly. I assume my surgeons office knows what they are doing  -
wow Hollie that is fantastic keep up the great work!!! I'm scheduled for surgery in November and I hope I am as successful as you.

Wow you guys are making me a little nervous too. I have BC/BS of NJ PPO. I went for my surgical consult back in July. Met with the surgeon, did the psych eval and met with the nutritionist. Started my 6 month monitored with my PCP in June with November being month 6. When I was done with the consult I was given a surgery date of November 24th. I have two tests to get done at the gastro docs, consult with them set up this month and I assume the tests done early next month. The staff at my surgeons office said once I finish my 6 months monitored with my PCP then all notes get copied along with a letter of necessity from her. All this goes to my surgeon and they will submit ALL info. I'm assuming they don't feel it will be a problem getting approved as my month 6 is early November and they scheduled surgery for 11/24. I figure they know what they are doing. I am overweight with a BMI of 46, high blood pressure and just minor aches and pains.

I come from a family of 8, it's great. I'm a single mother (widowed) of 2 (teenagers now) myself and I often ask my mom how the heck she did it, I pull my hair out with just two lol. Patience patience patience. I find that good communication is a must as well. Congrats to you for your 16.5 pounds lost. I am scheduled for surgery in November and cannot wait. I have researched and thought about this for over 5 years.

Hey Tonice, I'm excited about my surgery and cannot wait for it to be done and like six weeks out lol. I am also nervous as well, hard not to be. The first worry would be something happening to me during surgery but my surgeon has put my mind at ease a bit with that and the second is basically failing. I too am a single mom (widowed) but my kids are a bit older, my son is almost 13 and my daughter is 15 so I've told them already that I will need their help with things after surgery :lovechoc:. Good luck with your meeting and I wish you well. My surgery is scheduled for November 24th, as long as insurance approves it I'll be doing it. Take care, Jackie

Lap Band Proved Poor Tool 4 Me
Jaculin412 replied to sexysmirk's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Sexysmirk..... I am so sorry to hear your story. What does your doctor say? Is there a reason for the failure of the band? I mean I know it's a tool but it sounds like that is exactly what you used it as "a tool". You did your part but for some reason the band is not doing it's part. I wish you luck and hope that you and your doctor can come up with answers so you can succeed in losing the unwanted weight. -
Hello All..... I too am in the process of doing the 6 months monitored by my PCP. I go next week which will be month 4. I have a surgery date of November 24th as November is my month six. Once I go to my PCP in November they will copy all paperwork along with a letter of necessity and send it to my surgeon, my surgeon will then send in ALL info to my insurance for approval (BCBS of NJ-PPO). I have already done my nutrionist, psych and surgical consult. I have two tests to do at the gastro docs and I have a consult appt with them September 29th and then we'll set up the appt for the tests at that appt for sometime in October. Per my surgeon, all should go smoothly with my insurance, I hope they are right, I am soooo looking forward to just being done and on my way to a healthy, happy life. Good luck everyone!!

Cobrien.... I feel the same way. I keep saying I have to get it together and try to focus a little on the changes I will have to make. I need to get to the health food store and buy a few different protein drinks, snacks, etc. I have gotten so much info from this site as to which things to try I just need to get to the store. My surgery is scheduled for November 24th. I just got back from vacation, my kids start school this week and my class starts next week. Once I'm back into a routine I will run to the health food store and stock up, try out different things. I am also scheduling an appt with the nutritionist, we were playing phone tag while I was away. Ugh!!!

Hi Cari, Welcome!!! So where in Jersey are you? I'm in monmouth county myself. I'm in the middle of my 6 month monitoring by my PCP, November is month 6 and my surgery is scheduled for November 24th. My surgeon is Dr. Borao @ Monmouth Medical Center. Good luck with everything, it's an exciting yet nerve wracking process.....

Starting 6 month diet
Jaculin412 replied to Lisa Dilard's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Lisa, that is so wierd I was watching that same show last night. I didn't catch how he went from 1000 down to the 800 but I did see when they were coming to weigh him after being on a diet alone for a year and he only lost like 22 pounds or something. The woman lost like 75 pounds very quickly. As far as which surgery to go with, it has to be a personal, educated choice on your part. Like restless said, lap-banders lose at a slower rate but at the 3 year mark the two surgeries are fairly equal with pounds lost. From what I've learned the GPS patients tend to start gaining weight back around the two-three year mark if they have not changed their eating habits. When surgery is performed the intestine that absorbs is re-routed and the patient no longer absorbs the calories/fat, etc hence the rapid weight loss. At around the two-three year mark the "working" intestine learns to absorb the way the one that was rerouted used to and if your eating habits have not changed then weight will start adding back on. I'm scheduled for the lap-bad surgery in November. For me, the GBS was not an option. I look forward to the tool which will help me with my weight loss struggle. Good luck to you with whatever choice you make  -
Hi all, my surgery is scheduled for Monday November 24th with Dr. Borao, Monmouth Medical, Long Branch NJ. I have not received approval as of yet because I am still doing my six month visits with my PCP. November will be month six and then ALL paperwork will be sent in. I'm told it shouldn't be an issue for approval and I sure hope they are right. I just got back last night from the Outer Bank, NC and had a great time. I am now soooo looking forward to my surgery. I plan to be a lot smaller when we go next year, woohoo!!!

I agree with Susie
