FarfelDiego replied to liveaboard15's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
Also worst ever award goes again to Barimelts for their disgusting Calcium chewable tablets. Yuck! Into the bin with them! Part of me said but they cost $30, and the rest of me said not today Satan! -
Congratulations! Yay! Well done! I’m so happy! Someday this will be me!

I love the no rush vibes though isn’t phase 3 the regular food phase?

I wish you would have told her “if you don’t vomit you’re not working out hard enough!”

@ lee ann yes, a healthy relationship to food. I’m always going to love food. I’ve been daydreaming about cooking fish. A whole fish. A beautiful fish. Red snapper. With Thai flavors. I thought am I obsessing about food? Is this healthy? It’s inevitable really with drinking vanilla, chocolate, and salted caramel shakes. And I concluded that I’m looking forward to eating healthy and trying new recipes. It’s ok. I’m looking forward not back. -
I’m making a list of what soft/puréed to have when that day arrives 1. Refried beans 2. Scrambled egg 3. Puréed Costco rotisserie chicken 🤤

Enjoy the journey! It’s not a race! One week out from post-op, two weeks of liquids to go. Today’s flavortown sensation is whey Protein isolate mango orange from costco. I feel like I’m on a tropical island living the good life. It has 20 grams of protein and such a lovely tangy flavor. Mmm! Mmm! I need a tiny umbrella for that tiny sipping cup. My blood sugar numbers are so good. They haven’t been like this since 2019! I put a call into my primary doctor asking about adjusting my meds. I’m on metformin, glipicide, and sitogliptin for my diabetes. Saturday night, after I took evening meds I felt dizzy so I took a glucose reading and it was 87. I usually don’t take a bedtime reading but this seemed low. So, the next day I decided to self-adjust the meds and keep track of my readings. I took the am metformin but not the sit or glip and tested my blood glucose in the evening. It was 97 so I decided not to take the pm metformin. This morning my reading was 101. Great! I was hoping that this surgery would help kick diabetes into remission and I’m delighted that my blood glucose readings are this good this soon.

I too was a gulper. I reached my water goal yesterday and today I will exceed it. I agree with using the flasks that keep water cold. I love my hydro flask!

Today is a special day! I sounded the celebratory bells. It was my first post-op poo! And to add on to the good times, I met my protein and water goals yesterday of 60g and 48oz respectively and it looks very good that I will meet them today. And I was told that I have not been snoring at all since surgery.

I’m very itchy. Luckily with the binder on I cannot scratch. The heating pad is so good. I’m not sleeping very well but I am taking as many naps as possible.

How are the other May 16 wls peeps? I’m dressed and ready to get out of the hospital at 11am. Pulling on my sweatpants was no joke. The binder helps a lot. -

My bypass went well and I get to go home today. The staff was very nice though hospitals are so noisy. My roommate here has been repeatedly told not to lie flat but she isn’t listening and keeps wrenching. I was so groggy and out of it yesterday. I didn’t start to feel alert until 10pm. -
Do you do anything special for yourself the night before surgery?

Hibiclens is horrible. That’s my review -

Surgery Day is finally here! I hope recovery speeds by as quickly as this past two weeks has. Though yesterday Clear Liquids Day just crawled. -
I get a call yesterday from hospital where I’m having bypass done saying that I missed my 8am COVID test appointment. This is the first that I have heard about said appointment. I had just talked to my place the day before too and it wasn’t mentioned. Apparently my inept scheduler made the appointment and didn’t tell me. Last month she also let too much time go by with my pre-op bloodwork so I needed to do it again. I got rather salty with the person who said that I missed my appointment and the person I had just spoken to yesterday and the day before. I told them that everything I have been asked to do I have done right away without delay. Well it’s all sorted now. I went right away to get my test and do my pre-anesthesia check in. That RN was full of bad advice regarding nutrition. I asked if I need to bring a protein water because I’ve read of people being asked to bring them. She goes on a rant about how people are consuming too much protein and how it’s better to not have any more than 15g of protein per day. There was no point in arguing with her. Please let my surgeon not be inept or stupid, amen.

Mixing protein in water or other?
FarfelDiego replied to mrsjo's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
There are packets at Costco that are mixed with water that are tasty. Mango orange flavor. 20g protein -

My wls is on the 16th. The hospital called me to pre-register and there were a bunch of standard questions that they had to ask. One question was is this procedure needed due to an accident or crime. I said no but then answered well, it could be considered a crime and then we both started cracking up 🤣 and it was hard to stop laughing to get back to business 😂 -
Psychology appt anxious
FarfelDiego replied to thinblueline's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I was also very nervous. I thought I’d be red-flagged as crazy. It wasn’t anything like I expected. Very low-key such as @grider described above. Afterwards I thought Is that all there is to a psych eval? -
I’m 60 and scheduled for RNY next week
