About Me

I grew up in New York (New Rochelle and Pleasantville). I am half Hungarian, a quarter Russian, and a quarter Polish. My mother recently turned 81. My father passed away in 1994 from Multiple Myeloma. I have a younger brother, who lives in Utah with his family.
I participate in Pre-17th Century re-creation with the Society for Creative Anachronism. I have a Judeo-Scottish persona, Lady Rebekkah Samuel. I do Quilling as a period art, decorating “reliquary boxes” (where local churches kept their saint’s relics. I have also used my longtime interest in embroidery to explore Opus Anglicanum (English work), a combination of silk embroidery and gold work. I am using it in Jewish-related images from illuminated prayer books.

I grew up with cats, and I currently have a black cat named Este (Hungarian for “night”). I lost her Momma on New Year’s Eve. I’m looking forward to adopting another cat after I move to a new apartment.  I have also had a love affair with horses since I was 9.

For sports interests I have participated in archery, softball, diving, and horseback riding.
For music interests, I love ABBA, Barry Manilow, Enya, Broadway  musicals, and Alfie Boe (including his partnership with Michael Ball). If you’ve never seen Alfie Boe, start with the Les Misérables 25th Anniversary Concert (you can find it on YouTube). That’s how most of us Americans discovered him via PBS.
The photographs I have uploaded are (top to bottom): Opus Anglicanum of my persona’s badge; one of my quilled reliquary boxes; my mom; my 15th century Ottoman Empire; my cat, Este; my 10th century Viking; Lady Rebekkah Samuel’s coat-of-arms; my 16th century garb; me and Mom; Opus Anglicanum of a Yom Kippur page; duplicate of the 16th century dress.
