  4. Hi Kimberly - do not despair! You are doing great so far! 23 pounds is a lot when you think that if you have 100 pounds to lose your are have reached 25% of you goal. I am going through the same thing as you are. Jodi is right, depending on the person it can take up to 6 months before you get to the "right" point for you. I had my surgery on May 8th of this year. I have had 3 fills since. I am still struggling with hunger sometimes (lots of "YELLOW" day!). When I spoke to my doctor about my concerns he assured me this is normal. He said I could be in his office once a week for 8 weeks till I get it right - but everyone is different. I just want to be at the point where I do not feel like I am still in a "diet". I hate to be hungry. I have found that drinking a protein drink in between meals really helps with the hunger. I had my last fill not quit 2 weeks ago and I am getting ready to contact the doctor to discuss another one. How often will your doctor give you a fill? Are you eating the same amount of food you were before your surgery? I think not, as even without a lot of restriction your pouch can only hold so much. I had my surgery 11 weeks ago and even though I am struggling with hunger I have still managed to lose almost 60 pounds. Are you exercising yet? I found that that helps me keep on track and actually helps with the hunger. So, give it time, stick with what you are doing and you can do it!
  5. Hi Everyone - my name is Diane and I am new to the online forum thing. It seems like a wonderful way to "meet" people who have gone through or are going to have the lapband surgery. My own primary care physician would not recommend me for the surgery - he said I was not fat enough! I was 5'4" tall and weighed 262 pounds! That is obviously more than 100 ponds overweight. It was so hard just to do everyday things like walk up a flight of stairs, bend over and tie my shoes, or take my dog for a walk without being out of breath by the end of the first block! Not to mention the high cholesterol, back pain and joint pain from carrying around so much weight. However, I was determined to have the lapband surgery. I have always been real good at "dieting". I know how to lose weight. It is keeping it off that has always been my problem. I lost over a 100 pounds about 5 years ago and gained it all back. I have been on every diet known to mankind since I was 11 years old. I live in the metro Boston area, and I found a wonderful Doctor - Adam Glasgow of Glasgow and Glasgow in Norwood.I did a lot of research and that is how I found Adam. The whole journey from the beginning has been wonderful. It took about 2 months from my first consultation till I had surgery. I found the visit with the psychologist beneficial. I am continuing with seeing him. He has helped me a lot. I still am seeing my nutritionist also. I had my surgery on May 8th 2008. Anyways, It has been 11 weeks since the surgery. In the 12 day pre-op liquid phase I lost 17 pounds. Since my surgery I have lost another 42 for a total of 59 pounds. Only 3 pounds to go till I am at an even 200! I look forward to talking with all of you!
